    A point for beginners because I hardly ever see this mentioned even in up to date tutorials, if you experience accuracy problems and can't paint at certain angles, click the options tab in texture paint and untick occlude, this will will let you paint close up and at any angle as you'd expect it to without blender restricting you and being weird. If you're having issues after that with blurry textures close up, you need to up the resolution of the texture itself.

    i would have loved to see the whole blade made into a single uv texture paint so we could have learned how to set up a mask for the part that are metallic and other that aren't :o
