Then there's Gintama which can make you cry, scare the shit out of you, and make you laugh till you're insides hurt in the span of 3 seconds. In that order
I was completely like the girl in the bottom left. I was crying the whole time. But I had also seen this before and just anticipating what was going to happen I started crying. Such a powerful scene in the series.
What I love about this scene is he declared war *before* he rescued her, or even confirmed that she *wanted* to be rescued. He showed her how far he was willing to go for her; and so did the rest of the crew. That's what gave her the strength to live.
To be fair, Luffy needed a lot more help in Impel Down to stay alive. Of course, Magellan was the only real threat, but he was a terrifying threat. Still, Luffy might have been able to fare better against Magellan if he was smart and not reckless.
Luffy declared war precisely TO allow Robin to finally admit she wants to live. Luffy realized that she was saying she wanted to die in order to protect them from the government. By Luffy declaring war, Robin's deal with Lucci and Spandam became meaningless. She was no longer sacrificing herself for the strawhats because they'd be at war nonetheless. Luffy's choice lifted the weight off Robin's shoulders and took away any excuse she had for giving up on her life. Without the excuse, she could finally be free and actually declare the truth that she wanted to live as a strawhat.
The funny thing is, that this scene happens like 5 or 6 times over idk 10 episodes? But i still cant get enough of it. Water7/enies lobby was one piece at its best
Enies lobby is honestly one of my favorite arcs in any anime. Everything about it is just badass the fact that Luffy a rookie pirate broke into a world government facility and raised hell broke his friend out and then did the same thing in impel down I fucking love one piece
yeah, enies lobby is maybe my favorite arc too. the pacing is horrible tho if I remember correctly T_T it's no secret that they stretched the anime 2x for ad revenue or whatever I believe someone should reedit those episodes like: cut out all the bs
@@sebastianm.6669 I think it needs something like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or Hellsing Ultimate but keep the music and voice actors. It's not like it wouldn't be profitable. Toei usually doesn't roll that way but they did do something similar with Dragonball Z Kai.
MAN, Robin's voice actress knocks it out of the park. She finally breaks in that one moment and sounds like a child crying out for safety, but it's after 20 long years of trusting nobody and carrying her burden all by herself so you can hear the breaking of a long, long silence in that moment too. And now she finally found people she can rely on. Incredible stuff
I always imagined Robin would pull a fond memory from her childhood upon hearing how the straw hats were so willing to have her flaws and all I imagined she'd be crying while still laughing like Saul jaguar...
This was Nami's "Help Me Luffy" moment cranked all the way up to INFINITY. And I love Luffy's progression as well. Although he doesn't say it or reflect on it on screen, I believe he acknowledges the parallel as well. That is why he demands Robin to declare that she wants to live. Luffy remembers that Nami was in this exact position, and when he demands Robin to make her declaration, Luffy is making the declaration: "Say the word, and we will crush everything and everyone in our way to save you!"
she was cosplaying as robin, so the resemblance is intentional. He also cosplayed as ace, while watching marineford, his chat is somewhat malicious when they choose their cosplays

I hated Nico Robin while she was with Crocodile in Alabasta. After the Enie's Lobby saga, she became my animé crush. I love Nico Robin. She's my favorite Straw Hat character.
This made me love one piece the most and made me appreciate life. A lot of people going through hardship in life but I never thought it was a option to wanna live for other. Now I’m adult and a lot happier. I will always be thankful to one piece.
Yes she was, she even had contacts for the eye color. She made different cosplays while watching the series, Argentine twitch streamer called Camilanga.

One Piece is always really good at portraying the fact that overcoming our emotional blocks are half the battle. As long as Robin is resigned to her fate, there is uncertainty. But as soon as she admits that she wants to live, there can be no doubt that the straw hats will prevail.
I love this so much. Your typical anime would have the person refusing to be saved all the way up to the point they are saved. With Luffy it matters just as much whether you want to actually be saved. He needs to hear it because he doesn't pretend to be a mind reader; you tell him something, he takes it to heart. He needed to know that what he was doing was in her best interest, that she wanted it. I can totally see him saying 'okay bye' if she hadn't. What you want, your true feelings in your heart, these things matter so much to Luffy that he would never brush it aside and force you against your will. But as soon as you ask for help, the man will go through hell and back for you. This is a captain I would follow to certain death if he made the call and I was part of his crew because I'd know that whatever led to that decision, it was straight from his heart with the intent to help someone in need.
Not really... the previous scene to this one Luffy tells Robin (after she says she wants to die) "We made it here already, we are gonna save you anyways, you can die after the fact" more or less... He is in essence very selfish but good hearted Then the rest of the crew arrives and Robin explains the reasons why she doesn't wanna be saved... Luffy proceeds to make it very clear to her that she is not a burden to them, like she thought, witch allows her to be honest about her feelings, and mostly to herself. Hell, Robin even told Luffy to let her die in Alabasta and he refused... He was gonna save her one way or the other, in this case it just turned out that he saved them from the WG and from herself
I feel ya! I'm tearing up watching this like I did when I first saw it. Still on the Enies Lobby arc. Robin is a woman in pain, running all her life and just wants to end it. The Straw Hats teach her she doesn't have to give up. She has friends behind her.

Robins backstory to me is the single most tragic of the crew. To think to watch your entire island get nuked and everyone die BUT you. That’s just something I feel like no other straw hat has went through. I remember watching this scene and breaking down the first time. This arc and thriller bark are the two arcs that got me into one piece.
After all this time, all these years, I've never managed to hold back the tears whlle watching this scene. I always end up like the woman in the bottom left panel. Every single time.

When luffy told Sogeking to burn down the flag. I knew at that point luffy understands people at a level that no one truly get(characters in story). I had to look back at certain things to see what made me understand this. The viví moment was one too
The funny thing is the significance of that line "I'm fully aware of who Robin's enemies are". Luffy isn't just being gung ho, he is 100% ready and willing to accept what this decision means. Not even just Luffy. There is not an ounce of hesitation on any of their faces. This is after facing an admiral, after being betrayed, after going up against Cipher Pol. EVERY one of them knows the significance of declaring war on the world. It could mean their lives. And EVERY one of them is, without hesitation, ready to die in order to save Robin. From Luffy and Zoro to Nami and Usopp. Robin truly has people that she can depend on. And they all let her know that. That's what makes this scene so damn tear jerking.
I just started a rewatch of the series. The anime didn't seem like Luffy and the crew were this deeply badass, but they've been taking on Pirates and the World Government since the beginning. Zoro hated pirates; Luffy saved his life and fought the navy; then Zoro resigned himself to be an enemy of the World Government. This scene shows what that status really means, but The Pirate King has been doing this from the beginning. It's awesome to see members of the crew get to spread the relief they each received when they joined the crew.
@@ivckrxs118 Are you sure about that? I know he didn't intentionally seek out the Pirate Hunter title, but I think he was pretty solidly against pirates as were his 2 followers. It should all be in his first episode while he is tied up. I'm back up to Water 7 so the details are fuzzy again, lol Update: rewatched. Yeah, he just saw pirates as criminals and he was on the other side of the law.
Out of every scene in One Piece that I have seen, this one to this day is the best in my opinion. Truly a powerful moment that brings tears every time. This is why One Piece is in the rafters 😭

Kin-uchi is when a samurai pulls out his sword for a bit, then puts it back in its scabbard and makes a vow. It is cool that Zoro, who was wary of Robin until the end, silently vows to “save Robin without fail,” putting his honor on the line as a samurai.

Only One Piece can make you laugh while crying at the same time.

I’m an adult male and I’m not ashamed to say I cried whenever I watched this scene
The visuals of her being surrounded by darkness. And the quote of sal sayig. Shell find friends and the straw hats standing there sbinging a light on that darkness is just. Perfection. And thats credit to the animation on top of the source material.
いつ聞いてもこのロビンの声優痺れるわ
The scene of Zoro's sword is a tradition which means it is a promise, it is even better
I cried when I saw the scene for the first time, I cried again watching the scene with your reaction and I'm sure I'll cry watching the live action when I get to this part
Beautiful reactions ^^
I've seen this scene so many times and it still gets me ...
Yup, even this censored version brought tears to my eyes.
I reacted the same way as the girl down left i couldn't even speak all i wanted was for Robin to scream it omg such an awesome moment
Yes one of the emotional moments in one piece. Like the death of the Going Merry. The story of Koala. And the story of Nami and Chopper. Al of these moments are for me epic during the One Piece Stories.
