It’s probably not alcohol in this video though, probably just something to help his vocal chords loosen up. I can’t say for sure obviously. But he had sponsors on the road helping him stay sober. Most likely he drank whenever he was completely alone. Never in front of cameras that’s for sure.

Damn I just realized that in that clear glass James was drinking out of it was whiskey he was drinking, damn it James, I don't mean that in a bad way cause withdrawal is a thing but I mean it wasn't a bad idea for Lara to come up with the fact of Metallica having their own whiskey I think he just should have maybe thought it through a little more and not have James involved so much cause if he would have done it that way then most likely James wouldn't have gotten back into the drinking, but now that James is sober and healthy physicaly and mentally again I don't think he will ever go through this again and he most likely learned how to be involved in the selling of Metallica's whiskey without needing to drink it just thought I would share this on here
He definitely was drinking heavily in that era but I don’t think it was whiskey. It was tea or something like that probably because he has some problem with his throat as you can hear.

@@jord9261 James drinks Yerba Mate. Grown in South America. I used to buy and drink it myself for years. It floats on top of water as a loose tea,the straw specially keeps tea there . It did mess with my throat ALOT.
