Hi Jeffrey- Great shave today; thank you! The Super Speeds are nice razors, especially the Red Tip. Glad to hear the weather is cooler for you. Have a great weekend ahead. Be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Jeffrey!
Great looking shave Jeffrey! My Superspeed is the milder 1950 version, which I enjoy. I with you on drying the blade between shaves to prevent rusting: I take them out of the razor and mostly pat them down, if necessary wipe towards the edge and put the blade back in the razor for next shave or keep it in it's original paper sleeve. Take care and keep safe.👍🤠🤟
Nice job. Appreciate your information on the art. I have always rinsed the Alum off after 30 seconds or so. Agree about the hot towel. Professional barbers have been doing that forever. You are the only you tube shaver that does. Thanks and take care.
Great shave Jeffrey! Well, you're starting to show up in my feed again as it takes the algorithm a little to catch up when you get rolling again. There's a guy on Etsy too that does plating and he does really good work from the razors I've seen. Back Roads Razor Works or something like that. Bay rum is probably the scent I would choose if I could only have one scent. It's probably the one scent that no matter who makes it, from whatever time period, that I'll enjoy even if it's not a great one.
Good to see you Jeffrey! Those Super Speeds are fairly popular razors on B&B, not as popular as Fatboy's, Slim's, Aristocrats, Executives, and Toggles, but still quite popular. Its IMO, that you got a pretty smooth shave. And honestly, its said that the red tips are the most aggressive, but I didn't hear a lot of feedback from that, so it sounded more on the mild side if you asked me. If it were truly aggressive, like a Merkur Futur on 6, you'd know it, cause it bight you the minute you dropped your guard down lol. I think Pre-shave is worth it, its the difference between having a smooth shave, and a bloody one full of nicks. No, you don't need to buy another bottle of Humphrey's, you have Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel. lol
You can never go wrong with anything from Black Ship Grooming. Black Beard is Bay Rum with a twist of Lime. Really love Thayer's too and hoping you finish that bottle of Humphreys some time this decade! Until recently I was always under the impression that the warnings about not wiping the blade were so that you didn't remove whatever coating they had applied to it. Recently I saw a post that suggested it was just a legal warning from the manufacturer so you didn't cut yourself. Just like "don't eat the Tide Pods". I was also under the impression that you should rinse all the alum off your face. I always let my block dry out before I snap it back in the case.
😁Over time I tweaked the "guidelines" , I haven't rinsed alum in quite some time and it has seemed to work for me. I think the witch hazel and the aftershave help with keeping my skin from getting worse. I gently wipe the blade and so far that has worked well for me. As time goes I am sure I'll change a few more things that may seem out of the norm but as long as it works for me I'll following the sound of that drummer. 🌞
I used my 1951 Gillette Black Tip Super Speed last week but it only lasted for one day as it's too inefficient compared to my modern razors. I have six vintage but now they just feel too dainty to me.
@@JeffreySmith I'm using my PAA Copper Ascension Twist razor and it's just about perfect for me. The double open comb design and slick surface create almost no drag whatsoever, and it's very efficient to boot. I'm gonna try different blades in it just for fun, and this week it's a Dorco Titan which is working extremely well.

Thank you Mike and even with temperature only being ten degrees cooler, it makes a world of difference.

Nice shave, as always. The flair tips do shave well, especially the red tip and the medium (ie, uncolored one). Have a great day! 👍

If I remember correctly it is a milder shaver of the SuperSpeeds. Some of the modern shavers can be very efficient.
