This tournament was my first glimpse of Zidane. I was prompted by a friend who said to me: "Bro...there's this number 10 for France. You have to watch him play!" In those days I was only exposed to English football on TV & Shoot football magazines. So I followed Dwight Yorke, Paul Gascoigne, Steve Mc Manaman & Robbie Fowler. Then this tournament came along on national television and I saw Zinedine Zidane...and the rest is history....
First time I see him was in WC98. I am brazilian, I was a 8 years old kid that time. I was sad because we lost in the final. But after a couple years I understand How fantastic was this player. And I start to see all Real Madrid games just to see him. And when he retired, I stop watch football.
2:25 only him, the one and only zizou. doing the most unthinkable moves while he kept the momentum of his body, in the most smooth way possible. thank you for this brilliant super rare video.
It was exactly at Euro 96 that I had a greater contact with the football played by Zidane. I was 10 years old and up until then I basically only knew a few random moves from Zidane. It was in 1996 that I identified the extraordinary talent and technique of this super genius.
He was exhausted after a very long season with Bordeaux which started in July 1995 with the Intertoto Cup and ended in May 1996 with the Uefa cup final. And as you mentioned there was the car accident. These factors affected his performances at Euro 96....

❤zidane
🐐
The English media suggested he was overrated during this tournament. Idiots. His biggest problem here was France needed strikers.
English media are always big moaners. They hype up their local overrated talent to be world class before they even played a match😂
Who needs Zidane when you have Tim Sherwood 😂
@@gts8919this joke cracked me up pal🤣
He still went to semi in his tournament debut, almost reached the final by losing on penalties
Now they salivate over him, how times change
I swear Zidane was born with that bald spot on his head..
He was just 24 at this stage🤣
Late bloomer
Masih grogi... Blm lepas.... Masih blm dianggap di masa masa paul Gascoigne
