Sparge water doesn't have to be hot. Or even warm. You can use room temp or tap water and get the same result. All you are doing is rinsing or flushing out the residual sugar. Cooler water will do that just fine.
Yeah it's definitely something I need to try as it does reduce the chance of tannins but it It is generally accepted that up to a point, the hotter your sparge water the better or more efficient. I must try a cold flush tho
