Thank you so much. I put on my smaller feed dog after years of sewing canvas etc and had no idea of why it was hitting the back of my plate or how to fix it. I am a diy person and i thank you for showing me this!!!
Hi. I came across your video a few days ago after trawling countless video's for weeks on how to set the feed dog correctly in a sewing machine. It was just what I needed as I have not long acquired a Jones sewing machine from a friend and it presented with the same problem where the feed dog was sitting too low and didn't grip the material properly when sewing. An excellent video presentation with clear instruction whilst showing how to fix the issue? I have fixed my sewing machine thanks to you. Warm and best regards.
Thank You for posting this video. The feed dogs were bumping and slightly lifting the needle plate when sewing on my Japanese SEWMOR Model 999B machine. This video showed me how to lower the height of the feed dogs so that they now no longer lift the needle plate, and the material being sewn still moves as it should.
Thank you SO much for this tutorial! I have projects backing up after attempting to switch from a rolling foot back to normal. I can't wait to get home and try your suggestions. When I got everything put back together the reverse lever bounces up and down with every stitch-- I'm guessing it has to do with the feed dog rubbing against the plate. Fingers crossed this is the fix!! Thanks again!
Some tips on how to tell how high or low your feed dog needs to be would be so helpful. What are you looking for? Does the bottom of the V in the feed dog need to be just under, or flush with the opening?
The bottom of the v on the feed dog should be Slightly above the top of the plate. This varies depending on what material you are adjusting but factory setting is slightly above the plate line.
We see you edited your comment but just in case -- if the text you referred to are the captions, you can move them around by clicking and dragging, or you can disable the captions by selecting the "CC" button on the bottom right hand corner. You can also click the gear icon and go to Subtitles/CC > Options to decrease the font size. Thanks so much for watching our video and commenting!
This is great - how do you adjust the proper position of the cam lobe when the cam lobe screw comes loose on the upper shaft that was rotating around the yoke fork, which is connected to the feed dog shaft. When the cam lobe screw came loose, the cam lobe would not rotate with the rotating shaft. This caused the yoke fork not to turn 360 degrees, which in turn failed to move the feed dog back and forth, and up and down. I have the unReliable (Reliable Corporation) Buccuda 200 ZW.
Is this the same for all Singer sewing machines? I have the 160 Heritage Singer Machine and I noticed my material would not feed through properly without some help. I was using an old scrap plaid flanel shirt to practice my lines and practice sewing straight....Some tutorials have shown with some machines, there is a switch for adjusting the feed dog height but I don't see a switch on my machine?? Do I need to use screwdrivers on the thing? lol. I'm afraid to ruin my machine lol. It's brand new and I am still learning about it.
Thanks for this good video, Thanks for 3:53!! Its helpful When adjusting feed dog , where you place the knob sew steps position ? (0,1,2,3,4,5 or max position)
I am attempting to do a forward and backward adjustment on a singer 491. Its not quite as easy as you show. Either i touch on the back or the front causing binding and the back tack lever to vibrate every stroke. Would height possibly play a role? They don’t seem too high though.
Hi, I have a vintage sewing machine was not feeding the fabric and I flip the machine and at the bottom a move the metal piece to bring the teeth up and since then the machine sews backwards, what I did wrong and how can I fix it. Thank you and many Blessings.
You said the rear screw controlled the front to back movement of the feed dog, but you didn't say where the feed dog should be relative to the needle, which is info I need?
the needle bar aligned to the left. it moves right and left. so it doesn't sew straight right.and it is no more sewing zigzag. .what is the problem? how to fix it ..help please
Thank you very much for your reply.. i see in this video how to remove completely the feed dog. Regarding the quilting style foot, can I purchase that anywhere? Is this what it is called .. a quilting style foot for a Juki 8700? So the threads tensions will work when doing these minor changes?.. thank you again for your help
@@ABCSewingMachine thank you so much .. you have been a great help... I did not buy the machine yet but now with your help I will buy it.. I will see if i can find this foot here ( in Canada), if not, I will get it from your link .. thank you again
Great tutorial. Thank you. My sewing machine is a new home janome 535 and my feed fog is different. Can you show us the control screw for the heights? Thank you very much. I subscribe to your chanel :)
Question: Should the feed dogs be at their lowest point, when the needle is at its highest point? My feed dogs are too high when I have the needle at the high point. Right now, when I lower the presser foot, begin to sew, the feed dogs are too high. Thanks for the video!
Yes you have to check the height of the feed dog when you change to a different style. Lower the needle bar to the lowest position (without needle) then feed dog will be at the highest point. Adjust the feed dog height so the full waves of the teeth are exposed above the plate.
Hi a friend has a Brother CE8080PRW sewing machine. I lowered the feed dogs to show him how to do free motion embroidery and the feed dogs will not come back up. How do I fix them
That's great if you have that particular machine but I don't 😔. Mine works great anywhere other than beginning a seam near the edge of the fabric or going over folds, even with relatively thin cottons. (???) Frustrating.
It looks the author (channel owner) didn't answering the people!!! Right now I have a problem with my jack F4 sewing machine, while sewing the tissue didn't go forward, is this the feed dog is to low or the leg is high? Thanks.
ZAK-MAD Vlogs if you need to reach me directly then you can email me at Joseph@abcsewingmachine.com. I have no notification of a comment or attempt to contact us so email me directly. If the material is not feeding back then check the following: -put material under foot and turn pulley by hand. -Check to make sure the material feeds back and at no time feed towards you. If it does go toward then the feed dog may be too high. Make sure the foot touches the plate when the feed dog goes down. I am unfamiliar with the Jack brand so I am assuming it is similar. Email me pictures and a more detailed report of the problem and I can assist further.
Joseph Park , thanks for your quick reply, I used to pull material just when sewing the thin material forward that means "I guess" the presser foot is not goes down well or the feeding dog needs an adjustment (more higher) right now I'm so far from home and once I back "God willing" I can make live video with you to see directly what happening. Or recording a video and send it to you, I'm afraid from touching the feeding dog and ended up with a problem. Cheers.
Guys ! Cant even tell you what this tutorial meant to me... Totally saved my day, my week!! My little sewing shop thanks you all profusely😄😄😄😄😄🌈💪💞💞💖💞🎶

That's very informative. It there a height adjustment? What is a good height for it to be adjusted to?
I want to know this as well. My foot rides too low to the surface fir anything bulky.

Thank you soooo much for this tutorial. I was able to higher the feed dog on my White 844 that wouldnt move fabric. Now it perfect. :0)
Can you lower the feed dog enough to do free motion embroidery? It was an interesting and informative video, thanks.
Hello

Also would love to know
Thanks so much it helped
You have a video on how to set the single needle timing?
Waoooo thanks so so much be blessed
You are so welcome
Will it harm the machine if you sew without the feed dogs in place.
Can one sewing stretch fabric on an industrial sewing machine?

Do you have to adjust the timing when you change the feed dogs?
Can you make a video of a sewing machine without electric , it's a hand use paddle ( not leg).... the problem is the feed dog cannot move left n right
My needle moves up and down but presser foot does not advance, I've checked everything but no resolution to this problem. What am I missing?
Does this work for any sewing machine?
You said the rear screw controlled the front to back movement of the feed dog, but you didn't say where the feed dog should be relative to the needle, which is info I need?
when needle is all the way up - feed dogs all the way down. When needle is all the way down-feed dogs all the way up.

Is it possible to use this machine (Juki 8700) to machine quilt .. meaning no feed dog and needle at 0.. thank you

What if my feed dog is lower on one side?
Pls help, my feed dog keeps dropping. I keep adjusting the height and it keeps dropping after a few minutes. What do I do?
If you're able to move it up and down freely then you are not tightening the screw tight enough from the bottom of the machine.
I have problem with feeding dog. It doesn't move fabric forward. It moves just up and down but not forward.
@@ABCSewingMachine It doesn't matter what is the stitch length. The only way to get fabric forward is to pull it.
no one talks about the height it is suppose to be, is it 0.5mm, 0.7mm, 0.9mm?
When you put the regular feed dog on, you want the bottom of the teeth to be flush with the top of the plate.

Patricia Johnson this just happened to me. Did u figure out how to fix it?
These feed dogs have bee removed and dropped very low. Those screws to adjust do not match this machine. Singer 6423
Instead of sewing to the back my machine is pushing out the fabric. Going the other direction
don't see any reply's from author? did I miss them? regards
