Az I agree with everything you say but you get Vanguard and Blackrock's roles wrong. Blackrock and Vanguard don't issue loans because they're not banks. Blackrock and Vanguard make financial products that investors buy like index funds and ETFs. They essentially buy stocks in a basket of companies that represent either the whole of the market or a sector. They then turn around and sell investors shares of that basket and collect an extremely small fee for this service. That's what makes Vanguard and Blackrock popular. And because so many investors use their products they amass enough shares to award a board seat(s) to whomever they want and put pressure on the C-suite to adhere to ESG guidelines. That's what makes this so much more offensive, they're not even doing this with their own money. They're doing it with ours.

Az I agree with everything you say but you get Vanguard and Blackrock's roles wrong. Blackrock and Vanguard don't issue loans because they're not banks. Blackrock and Vanguard make financial products that investors buy like index funds and ETFs. They essentially buy stocks in a basket of companies that represent either the whole of the market or a sector. They then turn around and sell investors shares of that basket and collect an extremely small fee for this service. That's what makes Vanguard and Blackrock popular. And because so many investors use their products they amass enough shares to award a board seat(s) to whomever they want and put pressure on the C-suite to adhere to ESG guidelines. That's what makes this so much more offensive, they're not even doing this with their own money. They're doing it with ours.
It will be a lot harder for the gaming press to run defence this time because they have become so irrelevant since Gamergate, probably in part due to them betraying gamers last time around.

If you want to escape ESG and DIE, then play indie games made by little studios who don't have HR departments or need giant loans to make the games.
