This is an amazing book. It treats you like a real musician. No tab, you're learning to sight read. And as you learn to sight read you are learning technique and, quite importantly, how to constantly visualize where you are on the instrument. Since the player is blind to the instrument, you have to constantly keep a mental picture of where you are. It's really good.

...thanks for this lesson, excellent...I got this book a month ago to use by myself (have a chromatic teacher that I work with twice monthly), this book is great fun, your guidance is enjoyable...hope I find more...thanks for being human! Your encouraging style is helping a cancer patient (currently in chemotherapy) work on my chromatic harmonica to help with my breathing and fatigue issues...playing daily to every other day keeps me smiling and feeling hopefully...best to you for paying it forward to others...your tops to me (dana in Maine)...

I have the book 'Love of Chromatic Harmonica' ,which I have read it twice and watched all the videos on doing bends, breathing techniques, vibratos, holding the harmonica, and artistic styles and such and I will say that this is A MUST for anyone who wants to learn how to play the chromatic harmonica! Dave not only can play like a pro, he explains the techniques so well and it,s very easy to understand, which has helped me a lot. Good job Dave!

Hi Manuel....I also play a Hohner CX-12 Jazz, and feel it's a great instrument. The world famous player Tollak Olestad also plays the CX 12, so I guess we're in good company.

As Robert Bonfiglio told me many times never take your index finger off the bottom and use and use hand vibrato with two fingers of the left hand.

I have just received that book, so this was actually very useful. It never occurred to me to use the backing tracks for my own melodic improvisation. You mentioned trumpet books; can I ask whether the 16 or 14 hole can cover the range of any brass instruments? I think the 14 is the same as a violin (not sure about brass, but I have a book on jazz violin), and I believe the 16 can cover alto sax range. I'm not sure about the trumpet's range in relation to the chromatic. (Basically, I'm wondering what harmonicas fit established jazz repertoire on brass.) Good lesson, though! Gave me new practice ideas! Thanks.

Thanks for a great lesson. I have your book 'Love of Chromatic Harmonica.' You have written a classic. Simply wonderful. Can you help me with staccato. I play with a tongue block technique and cannot find a good method for creating clean, controlled staccato. Do I have to change my embrouchre to facilitate this one articulation? (It is easier to play staccato with a pursed lips embrouchre) help, please.

One approach is to do what are called tongue taps. Allow your tongue to flutter...good luck

I want to learn how to do that fall off stuff. Could, please, teach how to do it? Thanks

bertrent1 The fall is a bend...the technique is to drive air from the diaphram, bring the tongue close to the roof of your mouth, and constrict your larynx glottis a bit. Our new book LOVE OF CHROMATIC HARMONICA...TECHNIQUES & ADVICE FROM THE WORLD'S BEST! will be out in June or July of 2015, it has alot on how to do bends. Look for our new videos on bends on MASTERSOFHARMONICA.COM also.

David Kettlewell David, my weakness is vibrato. I'm having trouble mastering the throat vibrato. Does your new book address this at all? Thanks for your work.

I have to decide if I should buy SCX 48, 56, or 64. You said there's not much difference concerning the level of difficulties of play, Ok, now would you kindly tell me in terms of sound effect, SCX 64 would be more nice, more pleasant to listen?

These are the choices of the artist, listen to various RUclips videos and you decide. My choice would be a 16 or a 14.
