My mom just bought me a Volkswagen Beetle in beige, with beige leather seats and a black top. At first I didn’t know how to open the soft top but then I watched this video. The owners manual was a bit confusing, this made it so easy to understand.
@slafszoor did u fix this? We have the same problem. VW say replace the electronic unit that controls this but I think we can get away with just replacing the stage 2 sensor. will let you know if it works
My garage did a great job off fixing the sensor and applying a spot weld on the hook to stop the play. The play was causing the sensor electrics to burn out.
well, I have a manual top and it does need explanation, please. Are there latches to secure like the old beetle convertibles ? I get a chime, chime, chime when I drive it with the roof down....I must have missed something... thanks
@@paigeoppman7584 there are two latches with switches, and sometimes, I just drive knowing they are latched ... I'm done with this car and going to sell, life's too short and I have too many vw from 1956 to 2006.
I have a question: I have an 05 Beetle GL convertible that I just got today. I can't find this magic "top lowerering" button ANYWHERE in the car and when I try to put it down manually it doesnt sit all the way down. Can someone help me?!?!
Have you ever figured it out? I just got a VW beetle 2008 and same, can't find button and by doing it manually I can't get the top go all the way down and it obstructs my back window :(
Did you ever figure out the cause of the chime. I have 2010 and everytime i put the top down and start driving the chime comes on the indicator light starts blinking.

Because you have to hold the bottom down to secure it

Don't follow this instruction as they've forgot to mention that after turning the engine on you must put all the windows down.
