Yeah, that could be a job. Tbh I've started thinking that realism is impossible with cgi. You can 3d-scan of course, but you cannot do that for the whole forest and it would create repetition.
I think the tick season is quite much gone for this year here. The temperature might be too cold for them. But also, I've never had a tick, not even at summer. Tho I've heard so much about those, but I am thinking that they are not too common here or maybe they just hate me. As kid I used to be all day in the bushes like this.

About 60-100 years maybe, but only at summers.
