The 2024 Genesis GV70 blew me away with its luxury and refinement. Now stronger than ever, is it a better pick than the #LexusNX #AcuraRDX #BMWx3 ?
GV70 offers an optimal fun-to-drive experience with its powerful performance fit for a rear-wheel drive-based SUV.
GV70 will be offered in the United States with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, as well as an optional 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 power plant.
GV70 will offer a total of four drive modes including eco, comfort, sport, and custom modes for dynamic driving in various road conditions. The Sport Package is also equipped with an additional Sport Plus mode.
GV70’s fun-to-drive nature is enabled by an enhanced body frame structure accomplished by increasing the ultrahigh tensile steel plates and expanding hot stamping steel plates. GV70’s performance is enhanced by reducing weight with lightweight technologies such as application of aluminum materials to the hood and tailgate.
Enhancing the Emotion of Driving through the GV70 Sport Package
The optional Sport Package offers an eye-catching and differentiated design that further enhances the dynamic nature of GV70.
The exterior design of the GV70 Sport Package presents a sporty and dynamic image with a strong blackout bezel, three-dimensional pattern of dark chrome garnished grille mesh design, exclusive bumper design, large circular exhaust tips, a body-colored diffuser and exclusive wheels. The interior design of the GV70 Sport Package also emphasizes dynamic elements with unique interior colors, a bespoke steering wheel, and carbon fiber details on the console and door as options.
Genesis announced that its lineup of GV70 SUV models will begin assembly in the United States joining the Electrified GV70 which started production earlier this year. A significant investment of over $300 million has been made to enhance the production facility to accommodate future growth which includes GV70. Warehouse space has been added and modifications to the stamping and weld shops will allow for the creation of the vehicle bodies.
“We are pleased to bring further assembly of Genesis vehicles to the United States, bolstering availability of our products and investing in our communities,” said Claudia Marquez, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America.
GV70 is currently the best-selling model in the Genesis lineup and the localization of its assembly in the United States is a significant step forward in delivering the highly desired model to American consumers. Starting with the 2024 model year, all GV70 vehicles for the U.S. market will be assembled in Montgomery, Ala.

Good review. I bought one of the very first local 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestiges back in 2021. Love it, almost 3 years in I would buy it again, former BMW and Jaguar owner, Genesis is earning its place with the established brands.

In December of 2022 I purchased a 2023 2.5T Select (to add the pano roof and ventilated seats) in Cardiff Green with Black Interior. Paid $48k w/ tax/title etc. Hands down the best car I have ever owned; even over the BMWs and Lexus I have previously driven. Smooth, quiet, quick, comfortable. I could not ask for more. It's still the unicorn here in California. Not many on the road. In the 1.5 years of ownership, I have never seen another green one. People compliment me weekly on how it looks. I would highly recommend and would buy one again in a heartbeat.

As someone who works for Lexus but also a Genesis owner of the Gv80 and g70 sedan.
Someone who's bought multiple cars from different luxury brands Genesis It's by far my favorite so far It even comes with the most benefits. Genesis has came up very strong to the point there's a lot of things that they do way better even quality in certain vehicles than Lexus by a huge margin. Not only that there's a few co-workers that work with me at Lexus to have got rid of their Lexus models and went for Genesis. So now our manager gets on us about not trying to own a Lexus 🤣🤣. And on top of that I've even lost customers to Genesis because they found it much better and actually easier to use in some cases due to the certain models than the Lexus.

I love the GV70s design and it was between that and the NX but trying to reach the infotainment screen and controls was so much better in the Lexus. With out any dealers I went to one of the Genesis events at which I was just left to my own with the catering staff serving drinks gave me little confidence to buy it. Add to that no hybrid system..

  • @fenrirslip

One detail that does bother me on the exterior of the GV70 is where the front-most points of the hood in between the top headlight housing and the top left corner of the grille don't exactly sit flush into the overall "face" of the car and it looks like there's a gap right above the headlights from a visual perspective.
Granted, I know that it's a detail that's difficult to work with given the fact that the upper headlight housing on the GV70 is so high up. As a result, there's not enough space between the hood and the housing. Despite this little nitpick, it wouldn't deter me from getting a Genesis GV70 over the likes of a Mercedes Benz GLC or BMW X3. Regardless of what you may think about Korean automakers' reputation in terms of reliability, they have created some very eye-catching vehicles and it has done wonders for them.

    • @ayushmalpeddi2793
      @ayushmalpeddi2793 2 месяца назад +1

Actually, believe it or not it, it was 100% done intentionally. The reason they did it was to helps frame the headlights better. Hard to explain, but basically if they did not do that, you would have a traditional body cut through there that would draw more attention. A couple additional benefits is should allow air to flow better around that section. Also their likely are benefits to better quality control by designing the hood/front section like that.
Even though it sounds counterintuitive, this design choice allows the connection between the hood and front end to be more seamless when viewing from more than 5-10ft. Up close it bothers me to but I believe it was the right decision overall

@@ayushmalpeddi2793 I suppose that does make sense. Although something tells me that they could've done something else. Especially when you consider that the GV70 is the only vehicle in the lineup that has this design cue.

I hate when people like you make apple to orange comparisons. A base GV70 costs ~59K and is loaded at 69K. A 2024 X5 Xdrive40i with ZERO options cost ~68.5K and a 2024 Mercedes GLE450 with ZERO options cost ~71K. Add all the features of the GV70 and you are looking at AT LEAST 80K-85K. Completely different price bracket.
And even at that price, the GV70 STILL has a higher quality interior with better materials (leather/leatherette on the seats/dashboard/door panels, real metal trim, switchgear quality, etc). Hell the GV70 has a higher quality and luxury interior than a brand new 100K+ Porsche Macan GTS with all its fancy 5K leather package that I was checking out. For under 100K, the Genesis, bar none, have the highest quality interior of any "premium" sedan/SUV brand. Only other vehicle of such high quality I can think of checking out is a LC500. BMW, Benz, Audi, etc still use more plastic/soft touch plastic, etc. I've checked out all the German brands recently and all disappointed when it came to interiors compared to the latest Genesis.
On the flip side, some of the other premium companies offer better powertrains, efficiency, and driving dynamics. Specifically the Benz/BMW I6 48v is so damn nice and Toyota's hybrid system is nice even if not super refined. Porsche easily still have the best driving crossovers. But at the end of the day, I expect all that for the higher prices they charge... I also expect them to have a Genesis rivaling interior for those higher prices compared to Genesis.
At the end of the day, the SQ5, X3 M40i, GLC43, etc all cost 70K+ loaded and have significantly worse interior quality/luxury. They may drive better but they all feel about as expensive inside as a mainstream brand higher end models. Sure it is fine but not very special and substantial. Furthermore none of them come with a 10 year/100K mile warranty. Given Genesis has had a solid reliability track record since its inception, it's one of the few performanc-ish premium brands you can buy and keep for 10 years without having to worry about incurring heavy maintenance costs.

Stay away from the e-lsd equipped in the Prestige models, it has been very problematic. Same with the 4 cylinder engines, random misfires reported on those. Find a V6 with the regular AWD (not e-lsd) and you're golden! Those seem to have little to no issues. And Hyundai V6 engines have a pretty good record of reliability, same with their discontinued V8. Some going past 200,000 miles with only regular maintenance. Every brand has issues these days, including Toyota and Lexus. Look up all of the engine failures on the forums for the new Tundra (same engine as on the LS500) and the differential issues with the newly released Tacoma (it even happened to one reviewer, TFL Car, it was all recorded) the Tacoma broke down on them while testing, quite hilarious actually but very concerning!
