I am now 44 years old and hearing this song for the first time in a very long time brought back some very strong memories and feelings as it reminded me of my youth. It's funny how music can make you feel in certain ways. Wonderful song. RIP Greedy Smith.
I swear that in my almost seventy years on this earth, Martin Plaza remains one of the most utterly GORGEOUS men my eyes have ever feasted upon. The man was simply stunning! 🥰😋
What saddens me to distraction about Greedy is that anyone who heard Chisel sing, "Getting the Band Back Together" and how they transplanted that 80's flair into a new song, would surely agree the Mentals could have done the same. I think Greedy would have loved to have recreated the old flair with the other fellows. Their tunes were great for celebrations and Greedy was a loss and a half because the Mentals exceeded "one hit wonder" status.
@bollyBob1980 I too could not fathom why only Martin Plaza agreed to rejoin with Greedy in reforming the band, especially since the O'Doherty Brothers certainly did not go on to enjoy anywhere near the success they'd had as members of Mental as Anything. I do know that the ONLY reason that Martin stopped performing with Greedy was because Martin was cruelly struck down with a grueling six-year battle with cancer, in which the cancer traveled from one part of his body to another. Martin survived the ordeal, but to the best of my knowledge he no longer performs music. If I remember correctly, Martin now makes a living doing erotic "glamour" photography and he lives in Mexico.

En dan te bedenken dat zanger en toetsenist Greedy Smith er eigenlijk helemaal geen hit in ziet. Ook al worden er geen hits meer gescoord, de band bestaat heden ten dage nog steeds, zij het in een gewijzigde samenstelling en sinds 2019 zonder Greedy Smith die in dat jaar overlijdt aan een hartaanval. Smith was het laatst overgebleven lid uit de succesjaren.
Waarschijnlijk slechte PR en distributie van singletjes door het label? Als de singletjes niet in de winkel lagen, geraakten ze ook niet in de hitparade.
Ik mis bij dit optreden toch wel het meisje dat dan in de achtergrond met gebarentaal het liedje karakteriseert zoals in de clip wel het geval is. Het nummer is daarentegen niets minder, maar het zou een hele leuke toevoeging geweest zijn als er op de bühne zo een meisje stond die dat deed of dezelfde die in de clip meespeelde.
But still a lovely place to live, family members moved there some years ago and now have grandkids born and living there, ye are still very lucky that the country is not declining as fast as here in Ireland 😢. The government here are running this place into the ground...
