Sweet! Quick tip though. Of all of the islands, Texel is least like an island and more like a ‘polder’. Islands like Terschelling, Ameland, Vlieland and the tiny Schiermonnikoog are very much true island getaways. Terschelling offers the most for tourists in the sense that it has several villages with great bars, restaurants, shops. Lots of nature reserve and kilometers upon kilometers of bikepaths.
And to think that English is a West Germanic language that originated from -Frisian dialects brought to in the mid 5th to 7th centuries AD by -Saxon migrants from what is now northwest , southern Denmark and the Netherlands.
There is far more things to do in a small area, that's what makes the country so great. You never have to travel far to find a medieval town, a castle, forest, river, sea, city, amusement park, museum, bar, restaurant, even if you don't visit any major city. In other countries you have to travel for hours.
Mimolette is not Dutch. if you ask for mimolette in the Netherlands that will not understand you. Mimolette is French (Lille region) and just likes to be referred to as Dutch in France because of the good name Dutch cheese (Gouda!) has in France!
@@raatroc Never said Mimolette was Dutch. My point was basically "I have been a fan of Gouda and an imitation of Edam so why would I criticize Dutch gastronomy?"
Sounds cool! You should have a look at our other piece about the Netherlands: ruclips.net/video/wxaKy9_mrU0/видео.html Let us know if you spot some places of interest for your trip
