I love that he performed without an audience. I know the kind of anxiety that comes when you don't like feeling perceived, but you still have the urge to sing out. Want to be heard but not seen. But the empty seats speak to the message of the song and I'm here for the layers. I love his voice and I'm proud of him from watching him grow and change over the years. He's truly an artist.
thank you for your comment, i couldn't imagine phrasing all this better ; it says so much, i love that he stayed true to himself and as you said, it adds layers to the song aswell. i love him so much.. !
Finally after 8 years he performed again!! He did it amazing i'm so proud of him! Alienated is such a beautiful and emotional song along with his new album room under the stairs 🥺❤️
It’s underrated cuz he made pop music for fan girls of 1D, but with this album he might reach a bigger audience and people will truly notice his talent. Similar to Gaga, people appreciated her voice when she started to do jazz with Tony Bennett and ballads.
I think not doing interviews might partly be at fault as well. But it's pretty obvious that he wanted to start doing interviews when he was ready and comfortable to. Either way, I think he's gaining the recognition he deserves this year and I hope that he'll maybe win some award. He totally deserves that.
I've been obsessed with this song for a month. Wake up, go to sleep, and everything else between! Honestly, all of Zayn's songs are addictive. Especially this one.
I did NOT expect this style! That timeless blues and soul and OMG the falsetto! Gave me Prince vibes a couple of times and now I got the goosebumps. Those lyrics hit hard too.
‘Room Under The Stairs’ is an incredible album. Everything is done so beautifully.. from the vocals to the lyrics & production. Zayn really put his soul into this album, and what makes it even more special is that he wrote the lyrics of almost all the songs, and co-produced them too; very real, honest, and raw. So proud of him.
Zayn, you did a phenomenal job! So proud of you for getting back out there and sharing your immense talent with the world. This is only the beginning 🥹
The growth in Zayn music and his voice is unreal. His live versions sound better than studio. He wrote, produce and composed the songs himself now this is what we call talent. So happy to see him like that and looking forward to everything he will be doing in future
Amazing! I originally thought he chose the empty studio because of his anxiety, but now I see it fits the vibe of the song perfectly. Alienated, on his spaceship alone. Thank you Zayn, for coming out of your sanctuary to grace us. 💛💛💛
His voice was so …fragile, tho towards the last verse he sounded more confident. I could be wrong but maybe he had a case of “nerves?” His studio acoustic version was hauntingly good, flawless, I’m sure in time he’ll grow in comfort getting back in the saddle and all. A+🎉
@@waternymph4444 That's what made this performance especially captivating for me: IMHO he has an incredible vocal range and voice control/stable voice and puts his full soul in 💎. (So for me it sounds def not fragile in a kind of nervous way). It sounds even better live

Zayns a legend. He deserves an audience of not just teenage kids, but much more. Hope his music reaches them and they get to discover this amazing album he made. Truely one of the best albums from the best male vocalist.
@@bluengrey yeah i didn't get the words right, but I hope yk what I'm trying to mean. It's like our dad's generation can also enjoy his new music. They love organic stuff more than people of our generation. Today's artists only sing on computer generated beats.
This surely is his most mature album yet. I was never a "directioner," was already a mom at that time & never really paid any attention to them. I didn't really like Zayn's early solo stuff; just dived into his work after NIL. This album is the first one I can sincerely listen to multiple times a day, it's so organic & honest. Just loving this direction he's taken. This would certainly appeal to a more mature audience, I hope they'll adopt this to the radio stations. And I hope they'll stop talking about him as an "ex-one directioner". Harry has finally shaken that title, I hope Zayn will, too.
This is so beautiful! He performed live after 8 years again, and it’s just so beautiful to watch. I just love his voice and these high notes are just perfection! 💛
@@kJ922-h3j it was prerecorded from about a month ago. he had an ONO show a meet and greets in the UK and yesterday in NYC so my guess is it would've been way too much. especially after Sunday
Empty studio for this track and (mostly) full darkness was all a nice touch. Fit right in for the name of the song. Well done. Everyone has really been coming on fallon and doing work lately. The trend continues.
Now I dont know much about Zayn. But Im sure this album has a story to tell if he wrote the lyrics. This performance was unexpected in my eyes. Effortlessly sung and played with such beautiful country, bluesy sound melodies. It is clear he deserves our every attention as he wants to leave that old persona behind, whatever that may have been while introducing his musicianship and vocals with soberness and a comprehension that he has arrived. And that, he has indeed. ❤ Bravo!
the best decision that Zayn ever made was going solo and focusing on his solo career because his voice is just different he has such a soulful tone to his voice he really does sing from deep down in his heart and it’s beautiful.
How could this man always surprise us with his voice he’s amazing and talented I love you Zayn you’re the best and you did it we love you we love you 💙🤎

Wow I had dosed as usual watching Jimmy Fallon. Then I heard this beautiful voice and seen who was singing it. Never heard of him before and sure would like to hear more.
Better late than never. Be prepared to be more blown away by his vocal dynamics with such control and modulation that has layers and tones. He can go from Terence Trent D'Arby (Sananda Mietra or something now) warm smoothness to the husky raspy edges of James Morrison and Chris Stapleton (who he's emulating on his latest album) to way way back to the early R&B funky grooves. I'm a great fan of the vocal masters of the early R&B in Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and the cool harmonies of the Philly soul bands (Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes) and silky, smooth lush melodies of groups like The Moments. Man, Zayn is the modern reincarnation of many of them. He got a lot of flak for covering Jimi Hendrix's "Angel," which Hendrix's estate commissioned Zayn personally for the re-issue of Angel in commemoration of Jimi. But the complaints were mainly from the purists and gatekeepers trying to protect their idea of the legacy of Jimi. Zayn was never going to threaten or touch Hendrix's legacy, as the instrumentals were still laid down by Hendrix of the original music. Anyhow, I thought it was a brilliant take and such a honor. Also be prepared to go on a wild ride. Zayn doesn't move in just one lane, though his true love and pocket sits in R&B. His first album might be post-Neo Soul (I'm not a musician so I could be shoehorning the genres), while his second is a trippy voyage across genres (even experimental jazz or alt-pop or indie). Though I like his third album, it's generally a miss among fans. Here in his fourth album, he further pushes his artistry into new territory with fusion of blues, country (maybe only in the acoustic instruments and his forced twang, "whiskey" singing), R&B/soul/funk to perhaps 2 songs of mainstream pop. ENJOY the journey. Welcome to the rabbit hole!!
One Direction, former member. He Always had a beautiful voice. Unfortunately the management at 1D were always pushing the Playboy, (hardly) Harry Styles so hard the other boys got eclipsed. Zayn was the first to leave, looking skinny as a stick and miserable. Then the band broke up, they all went their separate ways musically, and all bloomed into amazingly skilled musicians.
