      "Visit Me" was hands down their best piece of *ART. The creative direction of it alongside the addictive production all over a slew of tracks like "Baby U Ain't Got Me", "Come Over" & "Ladies Man" ---- def could've helped bump the album up a few chart positions. But like Cassandra alluded to interview sources it really fell on the label's hands and they def missed out. That album is still a hot one 20 years later.

    These ladies were a staple in 90's R&B. I still remember when 'That Other Woman' single dropped in the summer of 2000. I was 16 and that was arguably the hottest R&B track that year. That song has become one of my favorite R&B songs and I still listen to it till this day. I just realized these ladies are from NYC, one from The Bronx and the other from East Harlem which is crazy because I grew up in The BX and now live in East Harlem.:-)

  • @tincredible
    @tincredible 3 года назад +34

    I had no clue that Changing Faces did a rendition of "Come Over." Learn something new every day! I paused the video to look it up, and I must admit that Aaliyah's version edges out Changing Faces' rendition. Though the girls of Changing Faces were the better overall singers in my opinion, Aaliyah's more whispery, hummingbird-like voice was just more suited for that particular track. At any rate, I'd put either act up against 90 percent of the mainstream R&B garbage that's come out in the last decade.

  • @UnreleasedUnderratedRnBgrooves
    @UnreleasedUnderratedRnBgrooves 3 года назад +9

    "Visit Me" (2000) will always be hands down one of the best R&B albums to churn out from the very early millennium. The production sounds on that effort were very left-field, it def screamed of a Timbaland/Aaliyah composition but still maintained the usual Changing Faces flow + brand. There were so many potential hits, not just "Come Over" but other gems like "Ladies Man" & "Last Night" that could've really turned out the chart positions had their label not foolishly put the duo on the backburner. I swear there were so many obscure pieces back in 2000-2002, especially when noting Darkchild's & Missy Elliott's crew of artists (Mocha, Canela Cox, Rhona, Debelah, Nicole Wray, etc.)

    Their debut album was my first cassette album purchase ever! I think I was 9. I'm 36 now. I never got the second album, but bought a bootleg copy of Visit Me from a guy who was selling CDs in college when I was 18. Music really is the soundtrack to life at times.

    It's the music executives that tell us R&B is dead, however it's those same people pushing the garbage (not all) we hear today. Thankfully social media and streaming services reminds us how good and varied the music was from that era.

    Despite R Kelly's personal issues very few people can match up with him in the studio. Changing Faces were one of the top groups of the late 90' early 2000's because of R Kelly hit making skills hopefully they will reunite for another album
