Being from the south and seeing the remanence of the damages from our treatment toward Black America race still matters. Personally I readily bear the burden of reproach of the generation before me. While one cannot undo or be responsible for the many generations before one should and can be accountable for their on recent history.For every unkind word that is uttered out of white america it keeps relations in a pre 1950s era. I feel compelled to challenge this generation to embrace the similarities and humility of all people. Cornel West's speech ( Race Matters ) is as timely as any on race ever given. I was making myself a fruit salad during the introduction so can't speak to that, but I just wanted to say that Cornel West is a hero to people like me, too, and by that I mean white, female atheists. He speaks to everyone who has any love for humanity, and he does it inclusively, making everybody feel welcome and understood. He is an antidote to the tribalism and divisiveness so prevalent in modern American discourse. I only discovered him a few years ago, because he was campaigning for Bernie Sanders, and now he's my second favorite living celebrity, after Noam Chomsky.

You gotta understand there is nothing wrong with the ideal of race. There is nothing wrong with the integrity of difference, when supremacy is in play and is prevalent, with the order of assimilating and colonizing masses despite color , to believe that one race is superior over another that is when racism starts to unfold and develop. Indigenous people here we have battled, some have conquered land, there were casualty and captives of war, yet no one tribe rule the entire continent. No one tribe ruled other nations based on color, or superiority. That barbaric mentality manifested in civilization like Rome, the United States of America, in my opinion is like the descendant, the early descendant still young and in its prime, a descendant of Rome, and knowing the history of barbaric events and culture manifested, romanticized, taught, and celebrated, and even worshipped in Rome and the western part of the world, who's to say the American forefathers when they created this system did not look at each other and say metaphorically When in Rome do as the Romans do? Knowing that each and every race has specific and distinct characteristics despite the common gene pool, and humanistic traits, what exactly is wrong with the ideal of race? Its not race that is the problem, it is the supremacy that is the problem, it is the absence of the ideal of humanity that is the problem. Race is not a scientific ideals created by New Agers or a systematic pyramid chart of society, it is what it is, since the creation of man and woman, duality exist and has existed, race and distinction both exist and has existed. That's just natural cause of humanity, if we were fully mix and integrate culturally then what will we be? Without distinction and the integrity of difference, how can there be a self defined and independent humanity? Race gives you distinction, race gives you culture, supremacy takes away from the idea of race itself, supremacy is that mixing and melting pot, if a supremacist wanted to create an all one color one race world, what is one way that they could go about that? one way of course would be genocide, and that genocide doesn't just mean killing off the entire race through means murder, plague, chemical warfare, Etc. But the same way the Spaniards did Latin America and the natives there, by mixing their blood with theirs in an attempt to completely deplete and wipe out an entire race. So tell me, just because an individual claim they are for the better of man through the idea of integration culturally, does this mean that they are not a supremacist? And just because an individual is for the idea of race distinction , does this mean that they are a supremacist?
The answer to the 3rd question, IMHO Libertarian Socialism/Anarchist Workers Party EQUITY and Cooperation is peace love and life. Direct action must happen we all need to make time. 7:06 is so rare, yet is the single most prevalent thought in my mind and thoroughly makes this life both an event of universal proportions of beauty, and curiosity, as well slog through a mental swamp of the oblivious, and evil that would and do ostracize those that have Ventured from the cave and our shadow friends. Briefly: (1) 'Race' is, indeed, not a scientific concept; beyond the obvious observation that people around the world have different-colored skin, science threw away the concept once genetics made the issue irrelevant. (2) 'Race' has alway been meant to be, in fact, a SOCIOCULTURAL concept-- always used to speak about human beings and our contexts: society, community, and the individual. (3) 'Race' matters because the democratic discussion we are engaged in is not about science but rather about SOCIETY, COMMUNITY, CULTURE and HUMAN DIGNITY.

I know we are all supposed to be on the same side and there are many hateful things I'd like to express right now, but will hold my tongue re: Reparations and Ados/Foundational Blacks. Take a hard, long look at what we missed in our capitalist Bernie Sanders opportunity--Med4All--we Ados have the most health concerns and the most difficult time getting care yet comprise 40-60% of the deaths--25% nationally from Covid-19; black women, I know, I'm one, have the highest student loan debt--Bernie offered free public college, medical and student loan debt forgiveness; racial justice--civilian oversight of police, an attorney general who will try cases states won't with regard to police brutality and legalizing marijuana so it would no longer be a reason for cops to plant drugs or arrest and disenfranchise Blacks, repeal of bail so that poor and low wealth largely African Americans can continue to work, supporting their families and not be imprisoned while awaiting their court dates. But because he stumbled on Reparations, no Ados vote. Notice the other groups that received Reparations sued to secure it. A group needs political power and wealth to address their wrongs. We have neither and the two candidates that said it out loud did not receive any significant support. But Bernie did and you withheld your vote. Think about that Ados.

I was making myself a fruit salad during the introduction so can't speak to that, but I just wanted to say that Cornel West is a hero to people like me, too, and by that I mean white, female atheists. He speaks to everyone who has any love for humanity, and he does it inclusively, making everybody feel welcome and understood. He is an antidote to the tribalism and divisiveness so prevalent in modern American discourse. I only discovered him a few years ago, because he was campaigning for Bernie Sanders, and now he's my second favorite living celebrity, after Noam Chomsky.

Dr.West has the rare capacity to make the academic appeal to popular potential for growth.
You gotta understand there is nothing wrong with the ideal of race. There is nothing wrong with the integrity of difference, when supremacy is in play and is prevalent, with the order of assimilating and colonizing masses despite color , to believe that one race is superior over another that is when racism starts to unfold and develop. Indigenous people here we have battled, some have conquered land, there were casualty and captives of war, yet no one tribe rule the entire continent. No one tribe ruled other nations based on color, or superiority. That barbaric mentality manifested in civilization like Rome, the United States of America, in my opinion is like the descendant, the early descendant still young and in its prime, a descendant of Rome, and knowing the history of barbaric events and culture manifested, romanticized, taught, and celebrated, and even worshipped in Rome and the western part of the world, who's to say the American forefathers when they created this system did not look at each other and say metaphorically When in Rome do as the Romans do? Knowing that each and every race has specific and distinct characteristics despite the common gene pool, and humanistic traits, what exactly is wrong with the ideal of race? Its not race that is the problem, it is the supremacy that is the problem, it is the absence of the ideal of humanity that is the problem. Race is not a scientific ideals created by New Agers or a systematic pyramid chart of society, it is what it is, since the creation of man and woman, duality exist and has existed, race and distinction both exist and has existed. That's just natural cause of humanity, if we were fully mix and integrate culturally then what will we be? Without distinction and the integrity of difference, how can there be a self defined and independent humanity? Race gives you distinction, race gives you culture, supremacy takes away from the idea of race itself, supremacy is that mixing and melting pot, if a supremacist wanted to create an all one color one race world, what is one way that they could go about that? one way of course would be genocide, and that genocide doesn't just mean killing off the entire race through means murder, plague, chemical warfare, Etc. But the same way the Spaniards did Latin America and the natives there, by mixing their blood with theirs in an attempt to completely deplete and wipe out an entire race. So tell me, just because an individual claim they are for the better of man through the idea of integration culturally, does this mean that they are not a supremacist? And just because an individual is for the idea of race distinction , does this mean that they are a supremacist?

But can we be sure that the dialogue is "meaningful"?
There’s not going to be a reparations check in every mail box. Never happen. Stop looking for a hand out or set aside. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said it best. Do for self.
The two Democratic candidates that touted Reparations did not get any form of overwhelming support--Marianne Williamson, whom I supported and Tom Steyer, whom I did not.
The best Democratic candidate--Bernie Sanders--supported by Dr. West-- offered the best comprehensive platform for ADOS, the marginalized/vulnerable, women, poor and low wealth citizens; the southern African Americans--the group who chooses the Democratic nominee, chose Joe Biden who is most directly responsible for the police state and the round up of African American men and women today and he continues to surge.
I know we are all supposed to be on the same side and there are many hateful things I'd like to express right now, but will hold my tongue re: Reparations and Ados/Foundational Blacks.
Take a hard, long look at what we missed in our capitalist Bernie Sanders opportunity--Med4All--we Ados have the most health concerns and the most difficult time getting care yet comprise 40-60% of the deaths--25% nationally from Covid-19; black women, I know, I'm one, have the highest student loan debt--Bernie offered free public college, medical and student loan debt forgiveness; racial justice--civilian oversight of police, an attorney general who will try cases states won't with regard to police brutality and legalizing marijuana so it would no longer be a reason for cops to plant drugs or arrest and disenfranchise Blacks, repeal of bail so that poor and low wealth largely African Americans can continue to work, supporting their families and not be imprisoned while awaiting their court dates. But because he stumbled on Reparations, no Ados vote.
Notice the other groups that received Reparations sued to secure it. A group needs political power and wealth to address their wrongs. We have neither and the two candidates that said it out loud did not receive any significant support. But Bernie did and you withheld your vote.
Think about that Ados.
