my father couldn't carry a tune and he LOVED Phil Harris so I grew up with all the 45's and hearing my Dad "recite" these tunes...they are so ingrained in me that I actually do a SPOT ON impression of him. I didn't know just how spot-on it was until I made a tiktok this past weekend (Smoke, Smoke, Smoke That Cigarette) and I shocked myself. I lived in KC Missouri for a time and my next door neighbor Misses Swan said she and her husband were great friends of Phil and Alice. I didn't enough sense to ask any questions at that time. I wish had.
Nice and informative and entertaining and… all sorts a fun! Just discovered these, but this is the only one so far where I haven’t seen the actual special. I’m fascinated with shows that exist out of the star’s key era, like the 3 Stooges in the ‘60s making jokes about the Beatles’ haircuts, so these specials are real treats. You talk about things that you couldn’t put on the air today, but have you seen Jason Alexander in “Big Time In Hollywood (Florida)”. He plays as himself, offering the main characters cocaine in his huge mansion, and when one makes a comment about “Seinfeld money” he responds “F-- Seinfeld” and proudly expounds on how he made most of his money in child sex trafficking, describing the “business” in far more detail than you would be comfortable hearing.
