Dear O.P.I, In these times of economic uncertainty, I want to thank you for creating a collection composed entirely of polishes that I hate so I'm not tempted to buy them. p.s. As always Jess, I still watched the whole video because I love watching you swatch!
@@cherrybomb1386 Hi Carmen, wetting the sponge first makes it so that less polish is absorbed by the sponge when you start applying it to the sponge. It saves a little product.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I love it when they put loads of pearl in nail polish. I think the brush strokes you get gives life and texture to the polish
Hi Jess, I just wanted to say thank you. I've been under self isolation for over a month now and your videos definitely help me cope with the stress and anxiety. I really appreciate it.
Pearls get a bad wrap. They're hated before they're loved or even considered. As you showed, brushstrokes can be manipulated or you can just rock with the look of it. It's a matter of preference but I appreciate pearls. I find them to be classic and feminine. I liked the look of Shellmates, Mussells, Baroque Pearls, and Love/Lust-er.
What was OPI thinking with this collection?? Even though the polishes were awful it was nice to watch your review, Jess. Thank you for continuing to bring some normal to us. Take care.
I don’t mind brush-strokes (neat ones), and I appreciate your showing polishes as they’re actually used! I’m an old lady who loves pearls and shimmers!
I kinda liked... just a hint of pearl-ple. Both the name and the colour! I think I'm also a bit unique in not caring about the brush strokes, as long as they're done straight.
I guess since I grew up in the 70s and 80s this type of polish doesn't bother me. It was called "frost" back then. I'm digging it, because it makes me feel nostalgic and I actually like the brush strokes. "Did You See Those Muscles" reminds me of a blue Wet-n-Wild polish I had back then. I may be be the oddball but I LOVE this collection!
These are AMAZING. Pearl is so refined and beautiful, I wish more people would use pearlescence. And I'm dying for more sheers as well. These all actually look great as a single coat sheers, and the multiple coats do nothing but get ugly and highlight imperfections because like real pearls the pearlescence needs some subtle background from an organic surface (like a nail) to glow and glisten evenly. I don't know if OPI intended them to be sheers but I will definitely buy a couple of colors to use that way.
That is a neat trick for those frosty shades. The infinite shine is definitely the ones to go after, with that slight duochrome effect. It’s unfortunate that they did it this way because I know I don’t like frosty polishes and would have to pay more for the infinite shine ones. I figured I’d skip this collection since I have plenty of indies that satisfy the same effects of this collection.
I totally agree with you! I think that I will save my (limited) $$$ and buy indie. It irritates me that OPI was pretty stingy with the duochrome shimmer pigments; indy makers seem to be way more generous!
I think Love or Lust-er is my fave, which surprises me bc I don’t usually gravitate towards those colors. I just love watching you swatch, idk why but its so relaxing. ❤️
I do love your videos!! I love how you swatch and I learn so much from you! That being said, I hate the regular polishes in this collection. They ALL remind me of that pearly polish my momma used to wear back in the 70s. UGH! I do, however, like a couple of the IS colors. Thanks again for a great video! PS....I agree about extra steps to make a polish look better but I appreciate the tip on this one. Had no idea you could do that with a make up sponge. :)
So I started watching the first swatch and I was thinking, “I’m sure she will tell us how we can sponge it on to avoid the brush strokes, but I think I’ll ask her to maybe demonstrate that in a video or Instagram post some time.” Then I saw the sponge come out. So thanks!
I love them all except for Olive for Pearls. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I really enjoy them and always manage to learn something.
Thanks for reviewing this collection, the infinite shine varnishes are stunning. I hope you and your family are safe and stay well, look after yourself Jess. 😷
Great review Jess. I liked the infinite shine polishes better, even though I don't mind brush strokes I just liked the colours in the infinite shine better. Although I don't like that it takes 4 coats to make them look good. OPI must have watered the formulas down! Thanks for the beautiful swatches :)
Thanks for the swatch & review! I am not a fan of frosty, pearly polishes, so this will definitely be a pass from me. The infinite shines were the better half of the collection, but still not great.
Fantastic video as usual Jess, I always really enjoy watching your videos regardless of what I personally think of the polish. Wow though, I absolutely hate these 😅 I remember polishes like this in the 70s and 80s. They were horrible even then but we had a lot less choice so they were forgivable. Now though? No thanks.
SanFreeman1: If you’re looking for a sheer, or semi-sheer colour, it’s great to have good formulas like this which aren’t streaky, and spread evenly from the first coat! Not to everyone’s taste, especially today, though...
There were 2 I actually sorta liked but man... why does OPI insist on bringing pearl shimmer back and literally without any major improvements on formula/brush strokiness? Let’s move on already, OPI. Not happy with them so far at all in 2020. Great review tho, Jess. 🥰
Why is it so hard for OPI to make nail polish I like? The past few years, they're either releasing the same 12 boring cream shades every single season or they're doing something bizarre... and with a bad formula. I don't get it.
Why does OPI churn out collections of such awful finishes? Yuk. But great video - I knew you must've been hating every second of the first half, but you remained entirely professional.
Hi Lara, I appreciate Jess's professionalism, too, especially when she is swatching collections that I personally do not like. I may be cringing inside, but I'm happy that she doesn't overly criticize the product, because there is always someone out there who has a different opinion. If you offend too many viewers, you will lose them!!
Meh, I love a pearl finish, it’s the nostalgia of staring at the colours as a kid. That said, I feel like OPI has lost their mojo and have for a while. Haven’t bought one for many years now. Rather spend my cash on indies. 🤷🏻♀️
Man, this collection is just not it. And I knew you wouldn't be a fan. I'm disappointed this was such a miss, I need a new, not crappy collection to play with. If I had to pick one that I disliked the least it would have to be Glisten Carefully. But as usual, great swatches and great vid. Thanks!
Me too! I REALLY tried to find one to consider buying but I don't think that I will be able to bring myself to shell out money on them (even when they hit the bargain bin at TJ Maxx.)
Dear O.P.I,
In these times of economic uncertainty, I want to thank you for creating a collection composed entirely of polishes that I hate so I'm not tempted to buy them.

Lol
Yup
Same! Bored now (but not with Jess 🤗)
Ha ha ha 😂🤣
Stacy Pennock 🤣
I agree!!
Thanks for showing the sponge thing, I’ve never seen someone actually do it in a video
I have never seen anyone wet the sponge first I wonder what the purpose was there
@@cherrybomb1386 Hi Carmen, wetting the sponge first makes it so that less polish is absorbed by the sponge when you start applying it to the sponge. It saves a little product.

I love everyone of these! I’ve always been partial to pearls and I don’t mind the streaks. Thank you for sharing.
Blue Hydrangea I love ❤️ it too

I bought the regular formula ones and love them. I love pearl polishes, they are so feminine...
Not my favorite kinds of polishes but love watching your swatches!!
What was OPI thinking with this collection?? Even though the polishes were awful it was nice to watch your review, Jess. Thank you for continuing to bring some normal to us. Take care.

I love all of these polishes. Any movement of your hand and you see such pretty shimmer. Very pretty!
These are AMAZING. Pearl is so refined and beautiful, I wish more people would use pearlescence. And I'm dying for more sheers as well. wow, those colors are like a blast from the past. those frosty ones remind me of that chrome china glaze collection from like - 2009??
Except those werent as hideous
Mary Helen
I was thinking about a past about 30 years before 2009.
I was polishing my nails, in the 70’s so these pearl colours fit my taste, great!
@@Blessed-2-b-a-Hembree I survived the '70s and HATED those popular frosty nail polishes then and I still do!
I think more like a blast from the past from the 70s!
Gorgeous. Brush strokes are beautiful. 💕

When I saw the thumbnail, I told my boyfriend that you were gonna hate this collection. He looked at me weird and continued to play his video game xD
LOL who in their right mind wouldn't tbh 😂
Haven't even watched the video yet, but I had to stop and comment and tell you HOW AWESOME YOUR HAIR IS OMG I LOVE ITTTT
I love the sponge trick, game changer for those pearl polishes!
Funny how everyone either loves or hates them. I'm a lover! 😀❤️
I think Love or Lust-er is my fave, which surprises me bc I don’t usually gravitate towards those colors. I just love watching you swatch, idk why but its so relaxing. ❤️

So grateful you tried black beneath olive for pearls. It’s closer to the much beloved and badly missed/discontinued just spotted the lizard!
So I started watching the first swatch and I was thinking, “I’m sure she will tell us how we can sponge it on to avoid the brush strokes, but I think I’ll ask her to maybe demonstrate that in a video or Instagram post some time.” Then I saw the sponge come out. So thanks!
Im in love with them all 💗
I love them all except for Olive for Pearls. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I really enjoy them and always manage to learn something.
Thanks for reviewing this collection, the infinite shine varnishes are stunning. I hope you and your family are safe and stay well, look after yourself Jess. 😷
I love the pearl stokes. That's what's is intended. But it's good to be able to use the polish in a different way if you want a different look.
I still get excited for OPI collections but damn do they keep letting me down. Hoping the fall collection picks it up again
I actually like the way the brush strokes look 🙄 I love pearl polishes...to me they look very 70s😊
Karen t Rodriguez: We both used nail polish in the 70’s, eh?
I LIVE for a brushstroke-y pearl. It’s so classic and classy and reminds me of Ladies Of A Certain Age, a vibe to which I aspire, tbh.
Love your videos, Jess!! Thank you for sharing them with us!! We appreciate it!! xoxo
I feel like Olive for Pearls actually would look good over a darker shade of lavender
Usually I'm not really into pearly colours but these look pretty cute :3
Wow that sponge tip is so genious!!
Interesting polishes 😃
Grabbed Olive for Pearls solely to place over a darker polish. Makes a world of a difference to me.😍
Great review Jess. I liked the infinite shine polishes better, even though I don't mind brush strokes I just liked the colours in the infinite shine better. Although I don't like that it takes 4 coats to make them look good. OPI must have watered the formulas down! Thanks for the beautiful swatches :)
Thumbs up for your video Jess but the collection itself is a fail for me.
Love these. Thanks. Be safe 😷
Would shellabrate good times go with any colour outfit? Like everyday polish?
Thanks for the swatch & review! I am not a fan of frosty, pearly polishes, so this will definitely be a pass from me. The infinite shines were the better half of the collection, but still not great.
How can you have the sponge effect with gel polish? Is it the same?
Do you think think they were meant to be sheer?
Omg shellabrate is so beautiful
I like this collection.
Passing on all of these 😓
Fantastic video as usual Jess, I always really enjoy watching your videos regardless of what I personally think of the polish. Wow though, I absolutely hate these 😅 I remember polishes like this in the 70s and 80s. They were horrible even then but we had a lot less choice so they were forgivable. Now though? No thanks.
I love olive for pearls on it's own. 😍
I like the 2 Pearl's in a pod
They are pretty but hate that they don’t seem to go on very easy.
I like the shades in this collection, but I hate the pearl finish.
Ugh! I wouldn’t buy any of these. Who wants to struggle with three or four coats?
SanFreeman1: If you’re looking for a sheer, or semi-sheer colour, it’s great to have good formulas like this which aren’t streaky, and spread evenly from the first coat! Not to everyone’s taste, especially today, though...
Am I not supposed to like the brush strokes? The texture makes it look more organic, it reminds me of the insides of a seashell.
Despite the opinions of people I love ❤️ all the colors
Jeez OPI, what were you thinking?
I'm here bc a vid recreating Hailey Bieber's pearl polish went viral & I need to hop on this rn haha. I like the pink 😊
I’ll be honest, I hated every single polish. They’re too streaky and sheer.
LoveNathasha I was just thinking that! What is OPI doing with these?! The formula is way off!
They’re designed to be sheer!
You clearly don’t like sheer or pearl polishes. And no comments on the beautiful colors. They aren’t meant to be opaque!
Can’t stand brush strokes either so this collection is a big pass for me! Love or Lust er is my fav of the bunch
What was OPI thinking?! The frost polishes need to stay in the 90s. I like the look of the infinite shines but they are way too sheer.
There were 2 I actually sorta liked but man... why does OPI insist on bringing pearl shimmer back and literally without any major improvements on formula/brush strokiness? Let’s move on already, OPI. Not happy with them so far at all in 2020.
Great review tho, Jess. 🥰
Sorry opi, I do not like any of the polishes in this collection.
I'VE NEVER FELT SO SEEN.
Glisten carefully 💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽
Why is it so hard for OPI to make nail polish I like? The past few years, they're either releasing the same 12 boring cream shades every single season or they're doing something bizarre... and with a bad formula. I don't get it.
Yay. First comment. Thanks for the video. I really appreciate it.
Great review Jess! Opi these are a hard NO for me :|
I like just a hint of pur-ple
Why does OPI churn out collections of such awful finishes? Yuk. But great video - I knew you must've been hating every second of the first half, but you remained entirely professional.

Some of us love pearls, and pearly polishes!
They’re so patchy. 🤷🏼♀️ You do a great job tho. 👍🏼
Many of these colors are dupes from other brands.
I don't love it either the green
I don't like any of the Infinite Shines. At all.
Same. I don’t like Infinite Shine at all. The formula completely changed the color of two of my favorite nude polishes: Bubble Bath and Passion.
That's better
I'm a fan of OPI, but I don't want ANY of these. All awful!
Meh, I love a pearl finish, it’s the nostalgia of staring at the colours as a kid. That said, I feel like OPI has lost their mojo and have for a while. Haven’t bought one for many years now. Rather spend my cash on indies. 🤷🏻♀️
At least they didn‘t throw that glitter inside like they did with those horrible polishes from the Tokyo collection 🤦🏻♀️
Hate the collection. Still watching the whole video 🤷♀️
Great review as always but the polishes are so boring - none of them I want to buy.
Pretty but nothing I need tfs ✌️❤️
They are not cheap, at least not in my country, so it's a big disappointment to see formulas like this!
Man, this collection is just not it. And I knew you wouldn't be a fan. I'm disappointed this was such a miss, I need a new, not crappy collection to play with. If I had to pick one that I disliked the least it would have to be Glisten Carefully. But as usual, great swatches and great vid. Thanks!
Almost the same as the first color
The Infinite Shine is the best part of this collection. OPI, STOP the pearl finish!
Ugh i hate all of these so much
Me too! I REALLY tried to find one to consider buying but I don't think that I will be able to bring myself to shell out money on them (even when they hit the bargain bin at TJ Maxx.)
Highly underwhelmed. Sad.
I love OPI so much, but dang, they managed to take one of the most undesirable finishes and put it into a whole collection 🙅♀️
Love Jess' videos, hate the polish. I can almost feel her cringing every time she swatches these polishes.
reminds me too much of my mother's 1970's, early 1980's nail polish collection--no thank you.
Don't care for abalone
Was never a fan of pearly polishes
Don't like the blue
I like love or lust-er
Yet another totally disappointing collection from OPI. Thanks for the swatches.
😒 guh. Pearlized polish has been trying to die since the 70's, just pull the plug and let it go already. Why prolong the suffering?
Essie the best. OPI👎
I can already tell by the tone of your voice in the video, you don't particularly love this collection lol.
