This is fantastic Joy! Thanks for demystifying the consultation process. I'm going through the trail runs of this process as I build my portfolio and it's so fun feeling more professional every time. I like to treat my clients to food/drink because I like having food be a part of the experience and I like slowing down to be present with people. I also like your ideas about having a card or giving candy...and having things be branded. I feel so far ahead of the game because of photographers like you. Thanks for so freely sharing so much useful content and investing in other photographers. It really helps!
Hi Joy, I really appreciate your step by step break down and guide of your process. A huge plus on the advice on making it personal and giving a little gift to the couple to stand out. I’m just starting out in the industry and your advice has boosted my confidence a bit :) I’ve subscribed for more!
I really want to start booking clients but I feel like such a hermit 🥲 I get major anxiety just thinking about zoom meetings and meeting in person but I think the points you made about bringing your portfolio and a thank you gift makes me feel a little better about doing it.
Yes it truly helps to have these things because it guides the conversation so you don’t have to be constantly be talking or asking questions :) I will also say that it GETS BETTER! The more people you meet with the better you’ll feel about it
Hey Melissa! Hm idk what’s up with that link! learn.joymichellephotography.com/wedding-consultation-guide when you click this is it still not working? If not shoot me an email :) I’ll get it to you
Hey Amanda! I have done around 20 a year for the past 5 or so years but of course this year has been totally off. Thanks COVID! I have done 5-6 a month in my busy months (usually september and oct) and now I would take a max of 2/month as a mom with my education business. Gotta find what works for you! Some people love shooting back to back weddings friday through sunday but that's not my jam anymore ;)
I like to have the contract at the bottom, the collections on top, and any collateral materials at the top (like biz card, thank you note, little gift etc) :)
I know this may be a far stretch but, could you film an actual client consultation? Even if it is a past bride and groom, so we could kind of get an idea of how one would go?
How soon before the meeting do you send your collections, pricing, contracts, etc digitally for virtual meetings so they have the content and don't need to remember it?
After the last couple of time I downloaded your guides, I now get your emails twice at the same time... I guess I'm about to get three of them! Oh, well...
Can you tell me what’s in your gift box!? I don’t even know what kind of candy to put in there. I’m worried about chocolate because if they don’t go straight home it might melt in their car 😂 imma get gummy bears! Help me lol
@@Joymichelle thanks. I’m meeting my first couple today and I ended up making a branded “movie ticket” and getting them movie snacks like popcorn and candy!
I’ve been looking for this conversation for the last 2 weeks and God has brought me to this video. Thankyou so much for this ❤️
Yay!! So glad you found me

So glad to hear it!! 🙌🏼 😊
So helpful! How many weddings do you typically shoot per month or year? Thanks!

Same here for us Joy, we book more at in person meeting rather than zoom:)
Interesting!!! Been wondering if it’s true for others. Thanks for sharing!!
Glad you're back! Do you think it's better to bring a portfolio book or a sample wedding gallery/album?
Hi Faith. Great question. For weddings - a gallery of a real wedding or an album ALL THE WAY
Thank you for sharing this!! This is so informative!
You’re welcome! 🙌🏼
Hey Joy, I loved the look of the album you showed in this video. Who do you use to make these albums? Never done one and would love to try!
Thanks - this album that I showed was from Nations!
Such helpful tips!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome tips!
In which order do you put the contents of the leave behind folder? Gift gift card first or?
I like to have the contract at the bottom, the collections on top, and any collateral materials at the top (like biz card, thank you note, little gift etc) :)
Which companies do you love for Albums? Love your videos so much!
Thanks Tiffany! 🤍 I love Nations for affordable quality, and RedTree and KISS for something a little extra 💫
@@Joymichelle Thank you so much!!

Great video :) thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!

Hm that should happen only if you used two different emails. Can you shoot me an email so I can check on this for you?
@@Joymichelle I think I might have figured it out, it was my fault!
So good.
You should really break this video into topics and paragraphs. it would definitely help you boost it in here.
Hey Pedro, can you share more?

Yes I have a video all about gifting here on my channel if you search client gift
