@@sploo13 If you're from a 2-plate state like TX or CA, remove your front plate when traveling through all the 1-plate states. This vastly reduces the chances of you being singled out for a speeding ticket.

Never stop these podcasts
Utah Highway patrol told me that they'll basically never stop a car going 7 over the limit, 8+ is progressively entering the danger zone, take it for what it's worth. 10 years of doing 7 over and I've yet to get a ticket

The problem with the big grill BMW's is they look goofy in pictures.... Much better in person where you can take in all the proportions. The grills are still very big but make more visual sense irl.

The Lamborghini Espada looks great in brown. And older Porsches have some truly desirable brown cars. The XKE, Aston Martins, actually, there's a lot of sexy brown cars.
As someone who lives in a single plate state and in CA, I have never put a front plate on my CA cars and in 15 years that's never been an issue. Plus you don't put holes in the front bumper for when you sell in the future.
A fix for your drain plug dilemma, use a shop vac on the oil in side and the suction should keep the oil from spilling out the bottom.
Subaru Outbacks, Metalic Brown in the 06-09 years was actually nice.

Living in Illinois, we just risk the ticket for not having front plates on our cars: we got my wife's van in Michigan so no front bracket, and I'm not drilling into the bumper of my weekend car. We do have "Disabled Veteran" plates on all of our cars for the very same reason as the Purple Heart or 9/11 plates...hopeful leniency from the Police.

I agree with Doug re the BMW museum....somewhat disappointing. The Porsche, Audi and Mercedes museums (in that order) are much better. The Porsche and Audi museums also have very good restaurants.

The worst 1980's & 1990's era's Manual transmission 4speed . 1'st is almost USELESS UNLESS CLIMBING a 30%↗️ grade while towing. And i did convert the manual to AUTO. LOL

Doesn’t Doug own a Toyota Sequoia or tundra. I wonder what his take is on the systemic issues w those engines. That would answer any critics who believe RUclips interviewers are paid off or subsidized w cheaper than MSRP or sticker (if used) purchase by certain manufacturers or not.
W regard to W Springs, it’s only feasible if long term mortgage rates are less than 4% and labor and insurance costs fall significantly . That facility is a money pit unless your entire family can fix, maintain and possible expand it themselves at cost.

The issue with the Alex Choi situation is they knowingly turned off their transponder and lied to the FAA. It was also near an air force base. You can’t mess around with the FAA and they do not like being lied to.

Yeah, their take that it's essentially okay to start fires on BLM land while flying without a transponder and misrepresenting a flight plan with the FAA... is stupid. Really stupid to defend it in any way.

They didn’t read into this story, so they didn’t know that Choi messed with a government agency. They just assumed that the government has now decided that stunts in the middle of nowhere is illegal in the U.S., but that’s not what this was about.

When Kennan questioned why folks weren’t buying a used Bentley because they were so cheap for so much car, Fillipo replied because you have to afford the maintenance, Fillipo became my “go-to” Guy on this podcast. I’m still extremely relieved a podcast like this finally exists!!

why is BMW constantly messing with the grill? its the most iconic part of the styling and they just love reinventing it constantly for some reason.

Best brown car is the Citroen SM
I don't think that the BMW XM was meant to be BMW's answer the the Mercedes G-Wagon. Maybe part of it was the intent, but primarily I believe that the XM was BMW's take on the high-performance SUV market to compete with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT or the Aston Martin DBX 707.
The thing is, BMW already has these performance SUVs that compete with the likes of those by Porsche, Aston Martin, etc. and that's the X5 M Competition/X6 M Competition. Not only do they make pretty solid power at 617 horsepower, but they're lighter and perform way better than the XM. Really the only thing that the XM has going for it is that it's a status symbol just like the G-Wagon since the majority of people wouldn't take the new one off-road. Lastly, the XM is also just a huge slap in the face for BMW's M Division if you ask me. It's the second vehicle in BMW's history that was sold solely as an M-branded vehicle, with the first one being the M1. Simply put, the fact BMW decided to follow up the M1 with an overpriced, heavy, and weirdly designed SUV is really disappointing.
X5M is smaller, better looking, better performing, just as luxurious (even can get a real glass roof) and more practical. It’s literally better at everything.

But if it was their attempt at DBX 707 etc equivalent they would make it more powerful, I think both you and Doug could be right because this car fails similiarly in both attempts

To say willow springs is “wayyy out there” is very misleading, Doug lives in San Diego (the bottom of CA, it’s 3 hours from LA. So if you’re him yes it’s about 4 hours away from him. If you’re like anyone else who may be interested willow spring is in Rosmond, CA, it’s just out the Antelope Valley (Lancaster, Palmdale) which is 60 miles north of the heart of LA. It’s actually LA county. However the race track is technically in Kern county, rosmond is the first city in kern county coming from LA. Realistically if you’re anywhere near LA, willow springs is about an hours drive +\- . So technically DOUG is WAYYY out there. He’s in Mexico.
I applaud Nick for wanting to get involved mechanically. A swap is not a swap, unless you turn the wrenches yourself.
