If I could sing like this I would never speak I would just sing everything I would ever say. I’m glad my childhood rock heroes are at peace now but I just wish we could have enjoyed them longer.
True same with layne staley or even Cliff Burton
nicocho06 cliff burton was a little before my time(I’m 34) but Staley was another one of my rock heroes as well.
@@nico.ch029 Kurt Cobain as well
One of the best voices of all time. Such an enormous loss...
Check out Julien Baker’s cover. Not many women cover this song...
Chris never died... Earth was just one of his tours
His voice was on another level.
Unbelievably good
For sure well said the guy is sick !!
Not really he sounded good with some songs
@@justheretoinspireyou5803 shut your mouth, he's one of the greatest male rock vocalists of all time.
Props to the room to have a properly staged mic chain.
Sorry you had so many black days, rest in peace my friend......
His wife had him killed. Be sorry about that.
@@dlynn101 huh! Is this a joke? Just wondering
Amen
😢
Rest in peace 😔
This acoustic version is so pure.
It's perfect talent ✨
Anyone arguing between Layne and Chris is pathetic. Both unique and amazing artists.
EXACTLY...THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS
They're just as good as each other but for different reasons. Both are amazing and the two best voices in grunge.
Can we just respect them both? Their voices were not similar, but great in their own right. Two of the best voices in rock history.
Cornell was easily a better and more rich voice.
agreed. a creed voice vs this...cmon...not even close
Such a beautiful voice that is not with us anymore. We will all miss you Chris. 👼
Tough day
Your comment made me realise it has been three years. RIP
Chris....i will always admire you and listen your incomparable voice...!😓

Truly one of the greatest singers in the history of music. His range was otherworldly.
His voice hits directly your soul !
Yo seriously? I’m 43. I used to listen to this in college and not think anything of it. And now, in some very real ways, I’m living the very words this man is speaking. Chris, you are missed my man. Gone too soon like so many greats.
Everybody talks about his voice but he had perfect right hand strumming rhythm as well.
I had a hard time with his death because I thought that kind of gift would be enough to keep him with us. I think we all would cut off a leg to have that.
I see now that he told us what was going to happen in so many of his lyrics.
Indeed
I constantly write on RUclips how emotional I get. I can’t help it, this voice just moves me. RIP Chris, you are so incredibly missed 😔
Grown man crying like a child when I heard you were gone. :'(
i will never reconcile with the fact that you are dust now.. never.
agreed
Nor will I....i cry...
There is another option.
Oh goodness, neither will i!
His corporial body may be gone but his essence lives on in the hearts of those that listen to his music
This is one of my all time favorites on RUclips. I can't believe how few views it has.
Vocal control doesn't really get better than this..
Freaking incredible. Enraptured by his voice. Got to wipe away the tears now.
Love this song. Even as he got older i think his voice got better
I wouldn’t say better, it’s just different. I feel like Chris voice got better for acoustic stuff when he was older, but it got worse for rock.
@@jean-sebastienbelisle3714 Welll.. even at the " worst " of his voice , it was still fat better than a great majority of singers in any genre .
His voice is amazing...
I agree!!!
I had this sound on repeat in 94' while driving to school in hs..
I’m still gutted that Chris is gone. 😢
One of the true great talents of our
generation. R.I.P Chris.........🙏❤️
I've watched several versions of this song and each time you get a sense that Chris is reaching deep within himself to sing this. It's almost like he's doing his best to hold it together, all the while he continues to perform. The world misses man.
Dumb ass response..exactly the opposite
1qq
me too heard many song versions. this is my fav
I'm going through a lot and it's hard for me not to break down hearing this. I agree with your statement, he is singing with so much emotion it's visible
Chris your no longer here you saved my life with your music so many times victim of child abuse and I'm struggling & still here & your not your so loved life here will be short & your your talent will forever be cherished you beautiful human I know it was painful but so I'm so grateful for all you gave us ♥️♥️♥️
Eerily beautiful and so sad, it's take a special person to write such songs and be a frontman, as talented and gorgeous as he was; his fears caught up with him. Any Soundgarden fan knows that, a lot of the songs are very dark lyrically, so clever and punctual some even with riddles, what a brilliant man he was...miss him dearly.
The reaction of the base player ....priceless. He's hearing that spectacular voice on the headset. Even experienced musicians are blown away!
It takes something special to be able to make this song work on just acoustic and bass and sound this technically good.
Mourning you so bad today. Yesterday was your funeral the 26th of May. I will miss you!
Me too .I'm so glad my husband bought tickets we saw SG at northern invasion. You could tell something dark was gonna happen .
This performance. I'll always keep revisiting it. RIP.
Wow, just wow. What an incredible voice and talent. RIP Chris and thank you for pouring your soul into your songs and filling the hearts of your fans. I've thoroughly enjoyed your music for 25 years and you'll be missed by Millions.
Forever
Amen! Rest in peace my brother! This song still hits home and I feel his pain.
Dude could sing the phone book & it would be badass..I was fortunate enough to see them live 3 times 🤘🤘💯
You're very lucky.
What’s a phone book?
Came here to shed a few. Sending love to any of you that come across this. 🤞🏾
Much love
Forgiveness and love. Don't let regrets keep you in the dark my brother.

Tools stop comparing musicians I feel blessed to have been a teenager in the nineties and I cherish Eddie, Layne, Chris,Scott, Kurt, Maynard and anyone else I forgot
Annie Mirra Jeff Buckley 💙
@@MsSez Yes!! I often feel like one of the best musicians from the 90's is forgotten about, my goodness, what a voice Jeff had.
You forgot Dolores. 😕
Andy Wood.
what a sad, soulful voice. amazing talent. unreal.
It seems as though Chris's eyes are sealed shut in this video ... which I miss since he has the most soulful, penetrating eyes as any man alive or dead, and I still can't get over that he is gone now ... but his voice supersedes everything ... a most beautiful artist, man, musician, and poet anyone could ever hope for. May God bless and keep him.
Paul Newman
So good.
Tomorrow I'll wake the same as an other day. But, his voice will be in my head.
when you truly realize what we lost, this video becomes all the more important
🖤
Missed so much never forgotten R.I.P Chris
So powerful, tears.. the man had so much soul, so much music in him.
damn dude, why’d you have to leave?
Because he fell on black days
That was beautiful, Chris Cornell and Maynard James Keenan - two best voices in my opinion, i'm from Poland, my english is not so good so i'm sorry for any mistakes
Flawless
Your English is perfect. So much better than my Polish! 👍🏼❤️
Rip dear Chris and your daughter is going to be a star like her daddy. We all miss you and Chester so much. I love this clip!! 👍💜🎼🎸🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤘😪
Chris was truly special... Exceptionally gifted!
What an epic and momentous performance. Damn, still can't believe this guy is gone. Rest easy, Chris.
I’ve never related to a song more in my life....this hits hard rn
Whatever you're going through man itll get better, stay strong
Good luck 🤞
me too
Just goes to show how dangerous depression and aniexty is having a dark cloud hover over you all the time never feeling happy . In a battle with yourself everyday gets old and tired. I will always relate too chris soundgarden for life . R.i.p chris your audioslave stuff is awesome too thank you for the music . Rock out in heaven the Lord must have some great concerts going on up there .
In a battle with yourself everyday gets old and tired...... So true and Chris seemed to me exhausted and worn out from the fight.
May he rest in peace.
I feel yuh . 6 attempted. Failure to even end my life . And I am nobody.
Chris did not choose to give up on life that night in Detroit, check out the facts for your own peace of mind
This may sound void of empathy, and perhaps it is because I am autistic, but I like to consider how many lives Chris saved by taking his. How many people changed their mind and decided to stick around because his death made them feel something again, even if it hurt. Or how many people saw the fallout of his death and decided they didn’t want their loved ones to experience the same. I have a very oriental view of self conclusion. I believe humans should have the right to do so with dignity and pain free. I believe a meteoric suicide like his is essential from time to time, it replenishes the rest of us aching souls.
Man, those lyrics... I've felt them so many times, yet I've never been able to put the words right. Chris did. RIP
I'm the kind of person that when I hear music that hits me hard I go out and buy all their music I fell in love with temple of the dog audioslave and soundgarden never really looked at the covers just listened to the music the lyrics somehow helped my anxiety & depression somehow this man spoke to me when he passed I was devastated and when I saw what he looked like I couldn't fuckin believe it hes as beautiful a man as are his vocals song writing and truly so unbelievably talented soul we've lost R.I.P Chris I loved you and your music and this one tragedy has hurt me the most 🌹🌹🌹
First off, R.I.P. my man. You will never be forgotten. You’re in heaven mixing it up with the greats where you belong. From C.C.TX
Thank you for everything. You will live forever through your gift.
Holy shit, just heard for the first time.. took me to another place for 4min.20sec … very sad that he is gone.🙏
3:03 we went sideways!! I LOVE IT!!
Chris' voice splits velvet..
I was just thinking it's like sliding into honey.
Wow, just amazing, Chris. Thank you for being so cool and understanding to me when you knew you had your darkest time, minutes away. Forgive me for not being more perceptive, I didnt want to impose, you seemed tired and maybe you were. I'll regret that for the rest of my life. Someone once said we should never meet our heroes because we will only be disappointed. Well, whoever said that didn't have you or your fans as an example. Your talent, lyrics, voice, musicianship and melodies are what I imagine many, many, many musicians and myself aspire to. I hope you are in a better, safer place now. it may be better to burn out, than to fade away. But you will always Outshine the dark times and your music has and will help many people through their darkest time, perhaps, even as dark as you have experienced.
kustom hooligans. well said, chris cornell would have been one of those heroes you met and came away even more impressed, dude was an incredible musician and as humble as they come. he had his demons but don't we all?
Kustom Hooligans yeah I can articulate what Cornell meant to me..but I did have the pleasure of meeting him twice...i was 17 in 08 and he toured in atl..there was a meet and greet and I was the 1st person in line waiting 3 hours to see him, when he arrived I was more than fn pumped up.. I saw him come up to the booth sit and down a red bull. I approached the booth with my merchandise smile real giddy shake his hand and say "Your a badass" he just smiled back politely and say "Thanks kids" as he signed my stuff as my brother snapped pics of us.The second time I got to meet him,I conned my way into to 'premium VIP line' and took a standing picture with him...my soul will forever be missing a gap where he filled with his music.i will tell you this, meeting my idol those days was everything I could imagine and more...his artistry pulled me from the brink more times than I'd like to admit..have a good one man
Kustom Hooligans perfectly worded I know he's in a far better place now and In great company, tremendous loss to the world of not only music but to a ton of his fans and those who never knew how his kindness help the masses
😭😭😭😭😭
BEST Voice ever in rock n roll
The 90s will always have my heart
🙌
The world was better with Chris, Rest Peacefully 🙏🏻
Still can’t get over that voice is no longer with us. Such a talent and a good guy.
rest in peace brother..miss you...so sad
I like the shot of the bass player laughing after Chris hits the long high note. I think he saw someone's face melting off!
His voice sounds like eternity. Incredible.
Voice sounds amazing as ever.
Prophetic. So sad. I was listening to this on satellite radio today and the line, “sun spots fading” made me realize for the first time … and what’s so incredibly tragic is that he glimpsed good days before he had to begin, “doing time” inevitably again. As I get older, Chris, I understand more and more what you meant and why you’re gone. Depression is real, folks. Think about it. Neither Good looks, extreme talent, money, fame, the respect of your peers, or a freakin daughter in your life could relieve the pain. You live on for so many others for so much longer than you would of - way past your sell by date, your still carrying that miserable, dark voice in your head that whispers constantly to just quit. It’s as serious as malignant cancer. Hopefully now it has lost its stigma enough that people will try to get help enough to carry them through the black days.
I’m couldnt agree with you more! My personal experiences are just what you’ve said. Would love to connect.
People will always look for happiness. True joy can only be found in a life filled from Jesus.. He came to this earth to die for us and defeat evil. Every day comes with new struggles but we will someday be with him living forever where there is no pain or hurt. Get on your knees everyday and thank god for everything you have. He will give you the strength to finish the race
Undeniable voice forever missed
I'm not crying, you're crying.........Miss you Chris.............
Unliked just to like again. Can’t get enough of this song. I feel his voice, his emotions in my blood. Running through my veins. Pumping through my heart. And when it ends I feel numb but happy.
Great voice! As had Chester may them rest in peace
We are all so privileged to have heard Chris.......
Absolute MASTERPIECE
The world has lost another true legend 😞😞😥
Look after each other brothers & sisters 🙏🙏
He is one of my favorite artists of all time❤ Rest easy brotha & thank you.
Simply beautiful 😇
Wow! Astonishing as it is moving and beautiful. Sure don't mind the change.....
I get chills listening to this.
This is such an amazing version of this song.
indeed, makes me so sad to hear his voice now :(
His ability to relate to the darkness that lives within us is unprecedented. He's telling us about his pain with no filters....many understand, and live in the darkness he describes so eloquently. It was his pain, and unfortunately for many, it's ours...
We love you Chris, Rest In Peace
Whom soever ive cured i sicken now. Whom soever ive craidled, i put u down.... chris always had CRAZY POWERFUL lyrics!
This man is the epitome of all artist's who have so much versatility and is absofuckingloutley hot as hell!! You're missed so much!! I listened to your daughter sing she's lovely & brave and misses you bunches!! Sadly gone but NEVER forgotten!! Love from 🇨🇦✨💫☄️🌠
Uau...This One hits much more than the original. Wonderful job on the acoustics. Seems he's piercing through the screen to be in front of you.
Effortless beauty in Chris’ voice 🖤
Those “I shouldn’t mind a change” pierced me through. RIP Maestro Cornell 😢
One of the best voices ever!!!
Absolute perfection!
No one sings like you anymore. RIP
I just think about a unplugged version Cobain/ Cornell ..wow..that would be like heaven...just where they are both now...love you guys...true artistic hero's
An infinite spirit with God's voice. Captivating performance in any sense... Exquisite artist!!! 🌹❣️♾️
Damn. I really miss that rock and roll voice.
Heart breaks every day for the loss of this amazing soul.. may you've at peace, beautiful Chris 💔
A voice that cuts thru the noise and speaks to your spirit. Reast easy my friend.
Love the acoustic of this song.
Stunning performance.
This song had been my mood for nearly 8 months, can't even guess how many times I've played it

Amazing, live moment, to share with your fans and yourself. I wish you well, within resting, in your own peace, Chris.....
when i'm rich i'm gonna have a huge wall outside with a projector that plays videos of chris live performances.
I played this on my Tamagotchi and still got 7.2 surround sound.
Excellent job on the recording!
I’ll listen to Chris until the day I die. Beautiful
His voice is hauntingly beautiful. This has always hit hard, but its a different level after he's gone.
Absolutely amazing, miss that man.
