These troops are Austrian .There are two military bands here , the first that is seen playing and carrying the Schellenbaum is German , the second one is Austrian ( Drum Majors mace carried by the tip not the head , Drum Majors distinctive sash , the horns hung with tassels (Austrian not German practice) and the lack of swallowsnests on the uniforms. I would say this is a film of an Austrian regiment arriving in a German city and being played through the streets by a German band and their own band in turns.

@@haydnbures1421 Yes true , the Austrians had their own parademarsch style where they would snap the leg forwards at the knee but here they are just marching at ease. The officers sword salute and the trousers worn outside the boots are two other points of detail.

How the teacher expects the class to leave when there's a fire:
Don't just condemn. Look at it; try to learn. What lead to it all? What caused this to be? Look at their flags there, serving as a genuine symbol of hope for the people. We know where that lead up to. I firmly believe that videos like these are crucial in helping us understand how the people felt, back then. That it didn't just came out of nowhere, somehow.
Yes, absolutely. I couldn't have said it better. It's important to retain this kind of record, even if (as you can see from some comments) it inspires some people and makes them want to commit the same mistakes.
@@dogchaser520 We must avoid that.
@Elvia Darkgrape Edgy and original. I'd say the military expansion was probably their first "great" mistake, though obviously scapegoating Jews for their problems (you always need an under or slave class in a society that wishes to propel itself forward quickly) would be a social one. Oh, and Hitler's massive misreading of Nietzsche and associating Nazism with Nietzsche forever by including Thus Spake Zarathustra in every soldier's bag was arguably their worst cultural crime, come to think (though there were many crimes of culture in that awful place). Nietzsche despised anti-semitism as a common, low-effort and obvious angle for people who would not put in any work to try and understand the world. He disowned his sister for marrying an anti-semite, condemned Wagner, etc...
@Elvia Darkgrape The mistakes were that some things were not achieved: complete success on the Operation Barbarossa and complete success on certain solution.
Yes exactly. I've been studying this stuff lately trying to see how the hell this all led up to killing thousands of people. We need not forget.

This must have been in Munich- the towers of the Frauenkirche are in the background. Maybe just after the outbreak of war, given the enthusiasm of the crowd.
Thats Munich right after the Anschluss of Austria. So before the war. The troops are austrians marching through Munich to celebrate the Anschluss.
Only the first band is German. The second one is Austrian army. So are the infantry - notice their collar tabs and their fahne isn't German. I guess their helmet decals are German because after Anschluss they were 'Greater Germany'.

Don't flatter yourself. Pathetic little f**k. Go and vote SNP or something. 'Civic nationalism', right?
I wish that the Bundeswehr would go back to the Prussian traditions. The goose step looked amazing when it was done by the Reichswehr and Wehrmacht and it has no real tie to Nazism. It was a feature of the Prussian army since at least the time of Frederick the Great.
And World War 1 wasn't even Germany's fault (though it's been convenient for Allied propaganda and history to paint it as such). It was Russia that mobilized and triggered the series of alliances. In fact, the Kaiser cabled the Tsar and asked him not to mobilize and leave it as an affair between Austria-Hungary and Serbia (which it should have been since the whole war started because Austria-Hungary invaded Serbia in response to state sponsored terrorism, which is an age-old acceptable causus belli). Beyond that, France bears more blame for making it a World War by declaring war on Germany instead of leaving it was a purely Eastern European conflict. But then, the Entente powers like to forget that the French were warmongers, eager to avenge their defeat in the Franco-Prussian War. Just like they like to forget to teach us that the British were looking for war as a way to curb the alarming growth of the High Seas Fleet and its threat to the Royal Navy's dominance of the oceans.
The rise of Nazism is directly linked to the First World War and the humiliating terms of Versailles (once again, heavily influenced by the French). So ultimately, if indirectly, France bears a great deal of blame for the rise of the Nazis. Had France stayed out of the war, it's likely that Russia and Serbia would have been defeated. Communism would likely not have taken hold in Russia (had they had the troops free, the Kaiser would likely have propped up the Tsarist regime). Austria-Hungary would likely have ended up splitting up anyway, as the next Emperor was more open to the idea of self-determination than Franz Joseph. Would we have remained with imperialist traditions? Possibly, though it's hard to see the Germans and Russians fighting a retrograde action against popular government for much longer. However, probably a hundred million or more lives would have been saved with no World War 2, no Holocaust, no Stalinist purges...and all the French had to do was use common sense, not warmonger and let the Austrians, Russians and Germans fight it out in the East. Which arguably would have benefitted France more anyway, since two World Wars fought on their soil did horrible damage to their economy and nation.
I AGREE 100%
Damn i would be proud af if someone cheered on us while marching. Let alone they give flowers...
