I think most of the troubles started in my life when whenever I was faced with a problem, I would ask myself, "What would Jerry Lee Lewis do in a situation like this?
Love Jerry Lee’s playing… it just fires you up as soon as he starts pounding those ivories! There were many true R&R greats in the ‘50’s & ‘60’s, amazing characters like Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Elvis, Chuck Berry & Jerry Lee to name but a few… where are their like today?!
On this day in 1958 {February 15th} Jerry Lee Lewis performed "Breathless" on the Saturday night ABC-TV program 'The Dick Clark Show'... One month later on March 3rd it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #3 on Billboard's R&B chart, #4 on the Hot Country Singles chart, and #8 in the U.K. R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012} and The Killer celebrated his 77th birthday this past September 29th...
This video shows fine session drummer Ronald White, who played in the Shindogs band from February to October 65, along with the band Chicago, and many other bands over the years. Now residing in Nashville and still drumming.
Jerry was in another level musically speaking he had total command jerry and klein with sam philips went to visit Elvis at Graceland klein has said they both rocked for a couple of hours he also added he wish someone had recorded that session Elvis said " If I could play a piano like jerry I would quit singing " I dont know if they were close friends but they were both very talented
Think about it... Elvis died nearly 35 years ago now. Since then Jerry Lee has had 3-4 more periods of renewed popularity with extensive TV appearances, tours, and CD sales. He's had more careers just in the last 15 years than most artists get in a lifetime. Sure he's crazy, but that's what rock n' roll was all about when it was born - and he did it better, faster, and harder than anyone else, including Elvis. When Jerry dies, a lot of people are going to b re-thinking his importance on Rock
IM TIRED OF HEARING THIS WAR BACK N FORTH JERRY VS ELVIS , LETS SETTLE THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL... JERRY LEE LEWIS DID TOUR IN EUROPE ELVIS NEVER TOURED OUT OF THE UNITED STATES
Why does it always become a competition - Elvis had a versatile voice - made movies, sang 4 genres of music. Jerry Lee did boogie woogie, rock and roll and had his own style, different than Elvis - they both had magnificent talent - just different. It's like saying apples are better than oranges - both good, but different.
Maybe it's just me, but in this video I can actually see the physical resemblance between him and Jimmy Swaggart in his face. That's the first time I've ever noticed it.
Idk who deserves the title of king, but Elvis doesn’t truly deserve it 100%, unlike other artist like Jerry Lee, Ritchie Valens, Eddie Cochran etc; Elvis never wrote any of his songs I respect Elvis for what’s he’s done for the genre, I don’t hate him but I’m not a big fan either, Honestly if anyone deserves the title of king it’s Johnny Cash cause he dared to go against the norm in the Rockabilly genre and damn well sang his heart and soul
Elvis is definitely NOT better. DEFINITELY Jerry Lee lewis, truly a great great great performer ...did i always mention that he is awesome performer ? :D
Elvis is better than Jerry Lee Lewis. Other singers that are better also are Johnny Cash, Ricky Nelson, Carl Perkins and Bill Haley. Plus no one is better than Elvis Presley, except for Johnny Cash and no one is better than Johnny Cash.
Compare this version with Elvis singin, for example, Return to sender, who do you think is rock'n roll!! For me, anyway, Jerry Lee is the King of rock'n roll and will always be!
he was like Rocky Marciano=he was ,is unbeaten. though had some knock downs. Elvis was like Mohamed Ali,but only never went to places where he could be beaten, but he was beaten by something else. they are uncomparable.
Elvis didn't tour Europe because the Colonel, the great promoter of Elvis, was suspected of murder in his native Holland and didn't wish to risk arrest.
@gabe31g and what does that mean, do you honestly think that if elvis toured in europe he wouldn't have sold out? come on get real it was his choice not to tour europe not because of lack of fans. He didn't need to tour outside the U.S this reinforces his popularity the beatles idolosed him and they were from liverpool yet had never even seen him untill they went to the USA. Myself personally I love noth Elvis and Gerry lee,
Because he had dyed it blond, trying to look younger as he was getting nearly 30 and was afraid to be named an "older singer" - At those times people said "Don't trust any singer older than 30". That is no Joke!
@@markusr7421 was his hair getting darker naturally? To me the blonde was originally his natural hair color like it was in the 50s but he was getting some weight so he decided to go brown. Which personally to me looks better for his body image. I was thinking. "No wonder he went brown lol."
@@JJ-go2vo In several books you can read that his hair in boyhood days and as a young adult was light blond. It was getting darker by nature when he endet his 20s. That was when he started to mention his own name in songs by himself - STICKS AND STONES seem to be one of the first songs. He referrs to himself as "ol' Jerry Lee". Friends started to call him "old Master" and he didn't like it too much saying "I ain't old!". The reply was "that's what some people call god..." "Oh, then it's allright!" I would imagine he dyed his hair light blonde to remind him on his childhood days, but it didn't look too fine in my opinion. I used to have light blonde hair in my childhood and it went much darker during the years. Now it is more grey...
@@markusr7421 yeah. I thought his hair was getting darker. I can tell that that ain't real blonde. He looks fine with his desk blonde and brown:) and thank your for telling me:)
of course Elvis had better look. and voice more classic. but as for energy---he=Lewis was more intensive, vibrating. Elvis was made as a great idol. Lewis was struggling alone.
its not about elvis being better than JLL, and he´s not. its about elvis being the most cute face back then.... elvis os not better instrumentist, not better singer, not better nothing, he was one of the first products of the global media...thats it.
JackieWilsonLover, how did he make Presley's career different from any others? He forced him into 2nd rate movies, wouldn't allow him to star with actors of distinction, i.e., Barbara Streisand approached him to appear with her in a re-make of 'A Star is Born' , Sammy Davis wanted him in 'The Defiant Ones' remake, all vetoed by Parker as 'not good for his image', a manipulative, money-mad tyrant, at Elvis's funeral he was negotiating merchandising deals with Vernon, good riddance to bad shit.
I think most of the troubles started in my life when whenever I was faced with a problem, I would ask myself, "What would Jerry Lee Lewis do in a situation like this?
IS JUST DIFERENT STYLE GUYS THAT S ALL! ELVIS, JERRY, JOHNNY, CARL, RICKY ETC ALL HAD THEIR STYLE! AND WE LOVE THEM ALL! BELIEVE ME!

I'd love to see a Hall of Fame of Jerry's barbers.

Jerry also did country and blues
Jerry is rock and roll and country music singer and pianist
Elvis was rock and roll singer
compare isn't needful
Very cool

Yes, qabe31q, Elvis did not tour outside the U.S. but he did perform in Germany when he was in the U. S. Army! LOL!
did anyone else notice the i love you sign language signage he did i this video?
@dimges Buddy Holly was a country, western, bluegrass, rock, rockabilly, pop, ballad singer, guitarist, pianist and violinist.
I wonder who wins :D
Da Killa!!!

@sunrecords56 Indeed.

Kenny Dobbins yes Jerry lee is
Elvis all day. Every day. No comparison. They don't belong in the same sentence. That's why Elvis sold a billion more records than JLL.
Compare this version with Elvis singin, for example, Return to sender, who do you think is rock'n roll!! For me, anyway, Jerry Lee is the King of rock'n roll and will always be!
Those 'professional' dancers aren't quite like we have these days lol.
Holy shit Jerry Lee Lewis throws the horns at 1:20.
@melkiemelkie To me it just seemed a lot brighter in this video. I guess because of the lighting
he was like Rocky Marciano=he was ,is unbeaten. though had some knock downs.
Elvis was like Mohamed Ali,but only never went to places where he could be beaten, but he was beaten by something else.
they are uncomparable.
@gabe31g If JLL Had Colonel Parker for a manager, he wouldn't have toured outside of the United States either.
AH SUCH A FUKINLEDGE!!! He changed allot in looks from 1957 dint he
1:20 HE invented the rock symbol
Lol
God Bless America .
How about they're both Legends of Rock and Roll? I'd rather go with that then argue about who's better.
Elvis didn't tour Europe because the Colonel, the great promoter of Elvis, was suspected of murder in his native Holland and didn't wish to risk arrest.
This is about the time Leon Russell was playing with the Killer.
I believe Elvis came here to Canada once...either way, I love JLL and can't stand mr Wigglehips
Your comment's are much appreciated!!!!!

Elvis who?
Elvis the King Elvis!

@sunrecords56 exactly
Guess what? I found out you can like them equally...much easier on the 'ol braincells that were working up a sweat trying to pick LOL
WHEN ???????
@TheRitchardgaleHater
They had color later in the 60's or if they thought it worthwhile.
Why does his hair seem so blonde in this video?

NOTCH JOHNSON!
Just think how much more good music we would have had if he had not married his cousin.
We had magnificent music anyway.
Cocaine is a helluva drug
All Killer no Filler
actually, the parents were right..Jerry Lee WAS dangerous....
this is just an OralB commerical---no video!
@gabe31g well Jerry is alive and well and elvis has been dead for 34 years, so i say jerry lee all the way...
@baretta369 there would be no gerry lee without Elvis remember this, Elvis made the breakthrough before the rest
of course Elvis had better look. and voice more classic. but as for energy---he=Lewis was more intensive, vibrating.
Elvis was made as a great idol. Lewis was struggling alone.
XXXOOOXXX
ELVIS FTW. PLUS ELVIS NEVER MARRIED HIS COUSIN IN MY BOOK THAT MAKES JERRY A VERY NASTY PERSON.
its not about elvis being better than JLL, and he´s not. its about elvis being the most cute face back then.... elvis os not better instrumentist, not better singer, not better nothing, he was one of the first products of the global media...thats it.
Jerry Lee lewis was so much sexier
Why can't people just listen to what they prefer? It's sad what the industry did to Elvis.
Am no , it was Jerry.
2 people like Justin Bieber
@mrgbennet Hakley was never the grandfather of rock. He copied the Black acts music. Hed was good, but never R&R royality
