    I'm 100% with your opinion about sheep and wolves. We have the same discussion here in the Netherlands and there are only 12 wolves living here.
    What a nice ride! Keep it up! I hope your spirit has gone up since the last. ride

      We use German shepherd 8 or 10 of them to run with the sheep nothing bothered them.

    Good effort. Well ridden, that looked difficult, again.
    But worth it for views like that. I don't think it is any coincidence that countries that are not yet over developed are the friendliest, and often the most beautiful. With less to worry about it's just the simple, important things that matter.
    They just need decent coffee!
    Ride safe, happy travels 👍

    Met a shepherd with horses down I Bosnia a few days ago. That was a bit unexpected I must admit. A bunch of horses in the middle of the road.
    And I’m on your side in the Norwegian shepherd-debate.

    If you think about it, it's amazing how wolves were trained to go on the other side of the fence and protect the sheep from the wolves remaining on the other side.

      Hehe yeah that is pretty interesting to think about 😅

    in Belgium too there are problems with wolves and sheep, but the farmers receive compensation if they put a fence to protect their animals so wolves cannot kill sheep anymore.

    • @RidetheBean
      @RidetheBean  Год назад +1

      I didn’t know Belgium had a lot of wolves. That is interesting 🤔
      In Norway the farmers also get compensation. But a lot of them also want to get rid of the wolves entirely. I think they are an important part of the wildlife, and should not be exterminated because farmers feel it is too expensive to watch them. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    It's because in Norway you don't have beasts like wolves and bear? @sheperds
    Or am I wrong?

    • @RidetheBean
      @RidetheBean  Год назад

      No we have both wolves and bears here. Not too many left unfortunately but I’ve seen both a few times.

      @@RidetheBean I once saw a map of Europe, showing where bears and wolves lives. And I remember there was none shown for Scandinavia. 😄 I guess it was not right. Thanks for the info and happy and safe riding! Cheers!

    The cost of living is too high in Norway to be able to afford a shepherd. That same person could be doing something different that had a lot more economic value.

    • @RidetheBean
      @RidetheBean  Год назад

      Sure. But maybe the profession of sheep farmer is not for you then if you feel it is too costly to take care of your animals? 🤷🏼‍♂️

    We have a similar problem here in my area of Tennessee. We have a lot of outsiders moving here and they just allow there dogs to roam free. They end up killing my chickens and ducks, along with other's in my area of the county. We are allowed to shoot any dog, or coyote, that is attacking them. I don't want to hurt someone else's dog, but I have lost far too many birds, and their eggs, to someone else's dog. I did catch one of my neighbor's dog in the act of killing one of my chickens. I told the neighbor that if I catch his dog again, I will end his dog The problem was solved. Coyotes are different, we don't need a reason to take out a coyote any time. What a beautiful place, but potentially dangerous by yourself.

      I guess it’s a little different if the animals come into a fenced area at the property. But if you had your chickens running wild in the forest I don’t think you should expect animals not to take them if you are not there watching them.
