In this video I walk you through the very difficult phrases in Django's composition "Rythme Future". Are you up for the challenge?
This is the most underrated gypsy song in my opinion
Dennis B This is GREAT !! Please keep these suggestions coming!
Thanks Dennis!
Why is that "C" part played differently by different players? Olli's version seems to be closest to the actual clarinet part, why do others play it differently?
The opening lick of rythme future reminds me of the difficulty of the opening lick of la Gitane. There is a lot of nuance in it, and it takes a while to get it.
Indeed, it's quite tricky. The key is to be very aware of both sweeps (even/especially if only two notes) and upstrokes!
I'd like to use this as a lick - 4:12 ... F#7b5b13 seems a bit difficult and not much reusable chord I'd say... is there a way to simplify it - can I play it over F#7 or some other chord suits better this lick?
Thanks!!!
Do the fast chromatic run Django plays in the J'attendrai video when going from A7 to Dm on the second chorus of his solo made easy lol
Yeah good idea, I'll get to it soon!
I've been learning la pompe for about a year now and want to start getting into soloing, but it seems really difficult to get into. Where do you recommend I start? Should I just start transcribing Django? It's all too fast for me :/
+Epsdude Z Definitely start transcribing. Anything you like really and just take slow tempos when practicing the phrases.
To me the 1st lick sounds even better slowed down
Haha yeah, I can see that. You hear more of the augmented nature of that lick that way!
Hi Christiaan, Stochelo does play that long lick (btw sec 0.54 and 0.57) ruclips.net/video/AKrP82tKh6k/видео.html slighlty different, so does Olli (btw 1.01 and 1.04) ruclips.net/video/RPI6ggAuzT8/видео.html The way they play it is a lot harder !
I think Olli's C part is what the oboe part actually plays. I like it better but then realized other players do it differently, why?
"focus on the work, not the results"
My mantra!
"Too much pinky" haha :)
+Paul Gibby DON'T DO IT!!! ;)
Hmm in this vid ruclips.net/video/AKrP82tKh6k/видео.htmlm Stochelo seems to alternate his ring finger with open strings rather than play the diminished lick you mentioned.
Yes he plays a different phrase which is much, much more difficult. It has a G instead of an Ab. You can't tell the difference really, it's too fast!
I watched at half-speed :)
+Christiaan van Hemert Haha, ok you can SEE the difference but you can't really hear it. Btw when I showed Stochelo my version he agreed that made actually more sense and was easier but he was just used to playing it with the open strings!
Always interesting. Here is another master of consecutive downstrokes, hope you enjoy.

Wow, amazing!
