    Thanks for this video... have been looking for some live recordings of these newer Dell EMC machines that aren't sponsored or infomercial-style. Need to watch your other stuff now, too; want to see that T330. I will probably need to upgrade my infrastructure in about a year or two at home, as well. Only server I've got is a T110 which a friend of mine's about ready to throw out the window, he's had to come and fix it so many times.

      The higher end machines seem to age very well compared to the lower end ones.

    Hey Bob,
    Thanks for the video.
    Could you do a video or talk about the the advantages and difference between using a dell R or T series server for an homelab case scenerios from less beefy to more beefy specs, which would be better :)

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  Год назад

      The T is more versatile having more space to work with. It's essentially the same server but with a different case. If you have the space get the T. If you need to stack them up in a rack, get the R.

    Bob do a video how to attach a storage to to dell server

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  3 года назад

      You mean a SAN or NAS? That would be via the OS (VMware or Windows Server) and would not be Dell specific. If you mean a DAS (Direct Attached Storage) then you would simply insert an HBA (Host Bus Adapter) card (aka controller) like you would any other card and connect the wire to the external enclosure.
      I don't have a DAS installation coming up in the next month, so I can't do a video on that at the moment.

      Oh it’s loud at startup! I will try to make a video on server boot noise if that is something people want to experience.

    Gaming ? 4k HDMI ports etc ?

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  3 года назад +1

      They come with a VGA port, no HDMI. This isn't aimed at gamers. Some servers are certified for NVidia A100 or A40 GPUs, but it's for processing AI, for example.

      Windows server 2019 will run fine directly on this hardware.. These aren’t optimized for Windows 10 pro. Get a workstation with a Xeon and a high end GPU if that’s what you need.

      I confess I practically only install VMware ESXi on servers. Ubuntu and CentOS run great as VMs. :)
