While fireworks lit off the night sky in Columbus during Red, White and Boom! on Wednesday, law enforcement agencies covered every corner around the Scioto Mile.

For real people are trying to defund the police because of the bad ones here and there, but really all you need is to hold the bad ones accountability while supporting the good officers and encourage mingling with the police. I think another problem is undercover cars, because it creates a sort of distrust like why is a police officer hiding unless they are on a mission then it is clear why. But patroling in one what if someone needed to flag down the officer for help and did not know one was near them because they were patrolling in a hyundai or nissan that can only be distinguished as a police officer when they turn on the lights in the car. But that doesn't mean defund them that means we need to start being a community with each other they shouldn't need to feel like they have to hide to patrol safely and the citizens shouldn't have to feel scared when an officer does happen to be a bad one. I know that is idealism but that doesn't mean we cannot try for better cooperation with eachother.

Good comment. Trouble comes in many forms when close to a million people attend an event such as Red White and Boom. I went only once, and the trouble we had was some jerks throwing firecrackers at each other. But of course, some idiot had to throw one close to our truck where we were sitting with our girlfriends, and my roommate was getting real upset, and I was the first to speak up to which the idiot was getting smart mouth. He threw the damn thing on purpose because his friend was no -where near the truck, and in the opposite direction. Two of us, and about four of them but did not worry us one bit. They finally left but it made no sense why this knucklehead was being an a##. Pretty girlfriends? Who knows. Little things today lead to more serious problems, and the police have their hands full enough.

@tomodonovan5931 exactly that is probably why my school was big on self policing we didn't "snitch" on eachother but we also did not have bullying problems because we kept eachother in check of course you had joshing and horse play but nothing that got to constant level especially once I grew to 6ft I was probably one of the more bullied because my weight but turns out I was just about to shoot up after my biggest part of my life.

If criminal cops were actually held to a higher standard nobody would care about their budget as long as it didn’t take from other programs. Programs that would create more opportunity and higher morale in communities in turn reduce the need for more police and military-grade weapons.
