Hello, I came to your page looking for answers about my 6176. It is only 2-3 years old, so I do not believe it is one of the tubes (preamp side tube), but I can be wrong. I only use it for vocals, and I never used the compressor side, so compressor is not hooked up. I am unsure if it is working or if I have it connected properly. My chain is tlm 102, 6176, apollo twin mkii quad, MacBook pro. About 2 mths ago I decided to shut my studio down, and that time everything was working great, no problems with anything, but now that I decided to start recording again my mic is not working when hooked to the 6176, so I have to bypass it in the chain to record. When I flip switch from split to join and turn knob to compressor side, and it is still not plugged in, the meter moves when speaking into the mic, but I still have no sound 😠🤯. My question to you or someone who can help is how can I find out if something is wrong, could it be something in the chain (apollo twin I attempted a factory reset), or run some type of a test. That piece of hardware outboard gear was 3k. Thanks in advance.
Greetings! Please write the full name of each lamp! I think it might change too. How long is the lamp life in general, would you like to know? And how often do you need to change?
Hey dude thanks for the video, I am wondering if you changed them also because a low signal on the preamp side, namely, the mic and line inputs. In join mode and meter set to pre, the meter hardly shows input coming from the preamp section. The unit works great only in the Hi Z setting. Otherwise it sounds muddy and not very loud (mic/line). The compressor seems to be functioning great, but the mic preamp doesn’t seem to be producing gain properly for mic / line inputs. So I’m wondering if we had similar issues. There are some forums with guys with exactly the same issues, but no one seemed to resolve the problem with the 6176. So did you notice any significant changes after changing out the tubes? The 6176 sounds great in many videos on RUclips and mine sounds nothing similar
Thanks for dropping by mate. First of all, I change it because of the muddy sound and lack of low frequency when I recording the vocal. It is great now after I changed it. Second, I know what you mean. My device to doing fine, no such a problem of your mentioned. So I only could share my 6176 front panel to u, here is what I set up, I hope it does help a bit for your case, cheers 🥂 From the first nob : Gain : 0 Mic : 2.0K Next to the gain ; PAD IN
JJ Electronic is a horrible tube. also in new condition. rustling crackle. like a campfire in the wild west i switched to telefunken as described in the film above. they make a good jop very powerful and voluminous
Thank you for this helpful video! I was wondering what types of tubes are inside this unit.
