My grandfather George Lester Haerr was chief accountant at the St Joseph Lead Co mine at Hughesville , MT 1927-1930. Fantastic to see this film. I have several photos.
Wow--interesting. A lot more automation than I realized they had in 1924. My Grandad was working about that time in Montana. but I think mainly on the dams. William Allsop. I'm not sure but did I see a man walking away under the "safety first" sign with his arm in a makeshift sling--and another with head bandaged. Couldn't tell. Sandi
Wow! Just look at the lack of safety gear. No hard hats, safety goggles, hearing protection, etc.,. Back in the days of "real men" where if you got hurt on the job, "too bad!"

Unfortunately, indeed with no hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, probably no steel toed boots and hearing protection (hear today, gone tomorrow).
