- Kde domov můj? (Czech pronunciation in English: Where is my home?) was written by the composer František Škroup and the playwright Josef Kajetán Tyl as a part of the incidental music to the comedy Fidlovačka aneb Žádný hněv a žádná rvačka (Fidlovačka, or No Anger and No Brawl). It was performed for the first time by Karel Strakatý in the Stavovské divadlo (Estates Theatre) in Prague on December 21, 1834. The original song consists of two strophes (see below). Although J. K. Tyl is said to have considered leaving the song out of the play, not convinced of its quality, it soon became very popular among Czechs and was accepted as an informal anthem of a nation willing to revive its identity within the Habsburg Empire.
Soon after Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918, the first strophe of the song became the Czech part of the national anthem, followed by the first strophe of the Slovak song Nad Tatrou sa blýska. Because of language diversity of First republic official translations to Hungarian and German language were made.
The split of Czechoslovakia in 1992 divided also the Czechoslovak anthem. While Slovaks have extended their anthem adding a second strophe, the Czech Republic's national anthem has been legally adopted unextended, in its single-strophe version.
A small motif used by Škroup was written previously by W. A. Mozart in Concertanto Symphony KV 297 b

Narážim tu na to, že ve městech sou furt velký známky komunismu, takže většina měst celkově nevypadaj tak dobře a neřekl sem, že to je příšerný, jen že to není nic speciálního.

This is a beautiful anthem which manages to praise your country without having to insult or denigrate any other nation, sadly my own (Irish) isn't so great. I love Czechia.

This is praise indeed from a country like Wales that is renowned for its singing! I am half Welsh and half English, and I ended up in tears as well. I recently listened to the anthems of all the countries in the world and placed this one as number one for both its melody and its lyrics. It really is a perfectly beautiful anthem.

Czech Republic and the world now cries. It's really sad to hear about the Charles University incident. I love this country, and I really wanted to visit it. Czech Republic is not widely mentioned in the news worldwide, but now media is returning to mention this country, but not for a good event.
I'm Canadian, and I'll always be proud being Canadian, and I love our national anthem. However, I absolute LOVE listening to the Czech national anthem simply because it is so beautiful, and I never get tired of listening to it. A lot of love and respect for the Czech people from Canada even though in ice hockey, we're bitter enemies.

I hope we will never forget. Big countries always piss on us, we should stand together. Most of Czech also feel shame for Havel´s agreement on bombing Serbia. So reciprocated friendships.... Bohužel. Už nemálo dětí i dospělých z 'novějších' generací nerozumí, což mě opravdu irituje, jelikož jsou si naše jazyky opravdu podobné a myslím si, že by ani neměl být problém rozumět Polákům.
Každopádně je pravda, že když jsme byli Československo, do popředí se vynášelo hlavně Česko, takže se Slovákům na jednu stranu nejde divit, avšak na stranu druhou si myslím, že to mělo něco do sebe.

Takový drobný detail, viď ;-) Taky by sis mohl uvědomit, že od roku 1993 má slovenské etnikum svuj vlastní stát, jsou to cizinci a není jediný důvod je neustále s námi spojovat, stačí že na nás neustále parazitují, platíme jim vzdělání atd. Tedy sečteno podtrženo než něco placneš, prosím, používej hlavičku.
Daniel Mills A tady je ta chyba... Většina Čechů nemá pravou národní hrdost, raději melou, jak je u nás všechno špatně. Národní hrdost je potřeba. Víš třeba něco o Kladsku? Podívej se například na naše "politiky". Ty hovada nemají o dějepisu ani zdání, natož pak aby měli nějakou tu hrdost. Svědčí o tom ty hektary, co jsme loni " vrátili Cholerám". Je to tak, ve škole nás učili, že jsme malý stát a nyní jsme ještě menší ;( A to právě kvůli chybějící hrdosti. Kdyby se nám chtělo, tak máme minimálně 85 000 km². A z druhé strany, kdyby se SSSR nepletli do Česko-Polských sporů (na straně Polska (ne)pochopitelně), tak máme dnes celé Slezsko nebo alespoň větší část... Čert ví.
Nehledě na to, že jazyk český absolutně stagnuje a de facto se nevytváří nová česká slova!! Berou se pouze slova z cizích jazyků a následně se jen počeští. A nejen to, ale berou se i slova nespisovná za spisovná. Třeba píšou je spiaovné -_-. Ze slov se často vytrácí měkké souhlásky, což nás pomalu odděluje od slovanských jazyků. Jde vidět, jací šašci se dostali do nejvyšších institucí. Pozři se na libovolný novinový článek a spočti, kolik je v textu cizích slov. Dle mého je i jedno až moc. K zblití, viď? :D
