The speaker raises an extremely important point that gets overlooked by hodlers getting rich as bitcoin rightly increases in value against fiat. In the USA bitcoin is legally designated a commodity and therefore the law is that every sat you spend is taxed as a capital gain. That incentivizes people to save their bitcoin. So to really start spending bitcoin as currency that is not taxed, people need to move to a country where bitcoin is a currency and not taxed. Then there is the issue of finding merchants that accept sats. There is still a lot of work to do for freedom money to come into it´s own.
This is signal that’s seemingly unconventional in the Bitcoin space but an important part of Bitcoin’s initial thesis as digital money. HODL is great but why settle for one aspect of Bitcoin’s allure? Use it or lose it.
