Thank you for this comprehensive video; I feel like the fashion industry is kinda elusive in its workings, specially to outsiders so this was super helpful in understanding the basic scaffolds and categories within the industry. It would be interesting to hear more about your day to day (ex)job and what that work entails. Thanks again & good luck with your future endeavors, you will shine regardless!
As a fashion designer, for the last tip you mentioned I would also add - ask yourself do you really like fashion or do you just like shopping? Because many many people in my course dropped out, after a month, when they realised they liked shopping/looking at luxury fashion but NOT making it (we started with around 100 people, only 26 of us graduated).
I would say, the team in Production House and the group of Sales' Staff (marketing, including E-commerce) are totally different kind of jobs/tasks they performed. Even from time to time they met to incorporate on the TREND, the Tip-in Style, the Outstanding point of Attraction, the Seasons' mix & match, the Selection etc that brought on to lots of debates (which you called on the meeting as a headache of Very, very delicate/minute details, including the Client Complaints.. that should belongs to the Production (& Design) staff, but as you're in the same BOAT.. the cons of too many (multiple) tasks that kicked you in ..for 5 years, i think it's quite understandable...the reason(s) while YuYu finally ended her career there.!! (I felt a bit sad of missing the chance of 5-years' effort, esp in a big name brand, don't you feel?)
Thank you so much for sharing this yuyu! Have always been curious about this industry and was so excited when I saw ur IGS collating these qns. This truly came at a perfect time :-).
fashion student here, thanks so much for the info. i'm currently switching fashion schools and majors from art direction to business and you said a lot of informative things, so lots of thanks. when it comes to the salary and payment i've heard (from my professors) that people working on the business side of the industry are way more stable than the creatives, that's one of the reasons why i made the switch. i believe that with a few side incomes, i won't be struggling one day. wish me luck 🥺💛🍀
@@kathrynhu9571 If i work in France, why would I be paid in any other currency? Yes, I am paid in euros. Mid-level buyer at a department store my salary is 39k and I had to fight for that even they originally offered 36k/an and I have a masters degree.
When I just came out from college (near to 20 yrs ago) I worked in “beauty company that distributing the luxury cosmetics, skincare, and fragrances … all colleagues in office (all ages) dress up nicely everyday carry different branded bags and branded heels , nice watches … but I was only earning near 3k a month… I wondering where their money came from … even if you make 2k more than me I don’t think you can afford so many branded bags and nice stuff since we all need to pay for cars , rental , food …
@@ho-thoo-family I think in many cases, especially in the fashion industry, people are coming from already wealthy families so these people don't care so much about their salary. I remember when working for a big e-comm brand in Germany, many of my colleagues had nice Audi's and the newest Prada shoes or bags, while me and most of my other colleagues were taking public transport and essentially living pay check to paycheck. As much as I love fashion and truly consider it my passion and expertise career-wise, I am slowly venturing out and looking to move more towards consulting or finance roles in the industry :) Also, working for 1 specific brand as opposed to a multi-brand reseller, you do making a better salary but it is much harder to enter in this big fashion brands.
Come over to work in Thailand, Yuyu. So we can watch your Bangkok vlogs everyday lol...On a more serious note, all the best with your decisions what to do with your life going forward.
So on point! Thank you so much for sharing. Very comprehensive and reasonable and such insider knowledge. Love this so much!! I feel like sharing and recommending your content on my own platforms.
thank you for acknowledging location is key. you could be the most creative, innovative marketing professional in the world but unfortunately companies don't care unless you went to a well-known school in a big city... speaking from experience :(
Such a helpful video yuyu! I’ve been following you for a while and was always curious about your fashion job, so I’m glad you ended up talking about it! Would you mind sharing a bit about what you’re doing now? 👀 Did you just change industries or are you doing something completely different?
omg thank you so much for sharing your experience with us and for all the tips. i am attending a master in fashion business in milan and for someone approaching this industry for the first time this video was so helpful. i'm an online student though, so i'm not really sure what i can do to develop my network ): manifesting an in-house job and wishing you all the best for the future... 🤞
This was helpful! But also now idk if I do want to work in fashion now haha 😂 can I ask why you quit your job? Is there another industry you’re interested in working in?
She s already talked it all, in pros & cons, what she loves & hates the most. I guess the Hate weighs a bit more than her love for it (fash).. stress, multiple tasks, the EXCEL (i wonder, nowadays most people use Power Point for presentation, not Excel?) And i think yuyu also think about traveling around, rather than 24/7 in Shanghai (& Milan) same place (& same Mall, after lunch) for 5 years.!!
I personally think a person should do a study or job he or she is happy with and truly interested with. Well, atleast yuyu is happy with what's she's doing.
I really love your videos and your personality, but please look into the lens and not at yourself on the monitor/screen… much more engaging. Super informative video ❤️❤️❤️
This job in thailand they need who can english communication but so "Personal Connection". Do not expect high salary. Maybe as regular labour just working in the stall office.
Ah.!! I can see mostly the Marketing Personnel must have a LOOK,.. esp in Fashion. You must tell all the Junior High,...so you guys, just look at me,... See.? That's partially, if not all, that's how i can get a job.!! (Oh, or mostly it's on-Line.(!?!)... e-commerce.!)
you should be a full time content creator!! there is something so magnetic about you and your vlogs ❤
On point low wages and slow growth. Beside higher management. All the best for your new career
