Unfortunately Air India is facing severe penalties and fines by government bureaucrats whose privileges to free upgrade, contracts have suddenly seen a huge cut by the new Air India Management. My sources tell me that Mr Modi has been made aware of civil aviation ministry officials who still treat Air India as their play field and still make indirect requests for special treatment for themselves and their family members. Recently one DGCA officer got very angry and fined Air India when his family that was traveling to Europe for vacation was not upgraded and was not given access to the Air India lounge.

Air india should order those 370 optional planes as firm orders, with at least 80-100 wide body planes, 470 planes are very less and extremely slow for Indian market, I dia can't be an aviation hub with so less planes, an average airline in USA has 900 planes and in China 700 planes, so 400-500 planes are nothing for sir india😢, they should go for 700-800 at least.❤
Growth needs to be sustainable. Air India can't just grow massive overnight, if they do, then they will fail badly. USA and China would have way more passengers who can pay the air fare. In India, the middle class still can't afford that much, believe it or not the people who can afford air travel are busy paying rents and mortgage on properties that are reaching first world valuations. There's complete disparity between real estate prices and average incomes, along with it, these people also pay 40-50% of their income in taxes (direct and indirect). Leaves very little cash on hand for discretionary spending. Hence the spending power of the consumer also needs to be taken into account before going for investing in expansion.
