Great video, I appreciate how your willing to post your mistakes for others to learn from even if the comments get toxic about it. Also that fire and lightning photo would make for a killer desktop photo
I'm only allowed to comment on another post and not make my own but as a car person, how tf could they justify 2500 to replace a radiator. You can get them for $100 and they take a trained mech like 30mins to replace if it's just a radiator. I'm in florida, so I use water, but coolant is like $20. You got ripped off.
I’ve been covering Tornadoes for 3 Years now, and This year was by far the worst of the Three! I went out to Greenfield After the Horrific Tornado there in May. And it was the Most Terrible thing to see in person!! I have So Much Respect for what you Guys Do, 2024 will go Down in History.
I highly have to agree with the fact that 2024 is a insane year and its still going, really unbelievable that we have seen a tornado with winds of 300+ MPH in Iowa this year and Arkansas having its largest tornado in state history all happening in the same year, really awesome video Chris !
Oh, you’re a fellow coloradian, We do gets tornado warnings down in the springs and sometimes golf ball sized hail, but the tornadoes rarely form… (except that one time on pikes peak) I can also confirm that Colorado is great for skiing and snowboarding. (Except when you break your leg 😭) I love your videos, and they have inspired me in many ways. Keep up the great work!
In 2008, my first year chasing, I drove a whopping 20k miles and only bagged five tornadoes on two days - waiting from early March to May 22 and nearly 10k miles driven before FINALLY seeing my first tornado. In 2009, I saw a whopping two tornadoes, a landspout in IA on the big hail day in Northern Missouri and a ten second birdfart later in June. By the time Aurora, NE happened, I was dead broke and couldn't go. I got better through the years, but as time went on, finishing a PhD in math, getting a professorship and managing family life took the front seat. I didn't stop chasing, though, and I won't stop until my body stops. I've asked myself if it is worth the frustration, the misses, all the days I have to sit streaming someone else's successes on must-work days or chase days in states like Texas too far away for me to reach with life's many considerations. Is it worth being a total unknown after 17 years of pretty damn hard work for a part-time chaser? You bet it is. I only have 101 tornadoes in my "career", but I wouldn't give up a single second of a single one of those experiences for anything, and I have met some good people I continue to see under the meso (or under occasional clear blue skies) across the decade and a half of this crazy hobby of mine. Stay safe out there.
Your excitement over the little dust rotation made my day! 😂 I like your reactions when you find something cool or scary. Calm and quiet storm chasing videos are always nice, but seeing someone get a happy adrenaline rush from something they've been working very hard to achieve is great. Enjoy that feeling as much as you can because someday when you've captured footage and pictures of countless storms with years of experience, that excitement goes away unless something extremely rare occurs.
I watch ur vids every night before sleeping and even simetimes fall asleep to them. Its the only thing that quiets my mind down. Keep up the amazing work. I love ur channel
The Elkhorn tornado missed my house by a little over a mile. It was truly a crazy and frightening day because I wasn’t home and all I had were news updates. I truly thought that my house was gone. Luckily it wasn’t.
It's incredible how the storm season was rather quiet until April 26, 2024. Then, an absurd stretch of severe weather simply bulldozed its way through the remainder of the season.
As a retired Toyota technician that loves everything outdoors including crazy weather with hurricanes being the common denominator of where I lived for 25 plus years I must say I’m suffering from Post Tumbleweed Seeing Dysfunction now. Seriously, lighting is my weakness although I loved watching lightning over the Gulf Stream from my deck. Waterspouts were also common and something I used my high school photography class to capture but my god, those stills you captured are something I’d buy and frame. Stay safe Crazy Chris.
All the okc tornados almost hit me every single week! One time, I was locked outside during a tornado. I thought that I should be scared, and I was, of course, but I also thought that the tornado was beautiful! Love your videos! ❤😊
@highriskchris I also realized later. Btw can you make live streams next year like other storm chasers? This might also get you more money if you add a donate button
Regarding the smashed window, have you considered using a protective transparent guard on your windscreen? I've heard storm chaser Daniel Shaw use one and apparently, it works - for hail, not sure about turkeys
I just subscribed. I like your style and your videos! I stay at home and eat popcorn and watch you! Amazing, I live in Kentucky and yes we do get Tornados here but not like you do out west, but I only saw one very small tornado. Although they have hit all around me. Its amazing to see them.. the biggest scare I had was in 1974, 50 years ago as of 2024. Huge tornado started in RISING SUN , Indiana and went through Kentucky and crossed the Ohio river destroying SAYLER PARK, a trailer park community. Every trailer was wiped off the foundation. There was nothing left. I remember being scared, my parents put us in the bathroom with a mattress. We had no basement. Channel 5 of Cincinnati was , Tony Sands weather man who was very good giving us advice. He said if you hear what sounds like a locomotive take cover right away. We did hear that sound. everyone huddled in the bathroom .. it was very loud , the house shook and then it stopped that fast..maybe 10 seconds and itg was gone. It was that huge tornado that wiped out Sayler Park. Sorry for those people. Then in 1977 we had a massive Blizzard which we dont get too many of those, but that one that year of 77 was something else. So Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati get wild wseather here sometimes. Keep safe on your journeys! I will pray for you to keep safe!
First year actively stormchasing. First tornado I’ve ever seen in person was Greenfield. Yeah, hell of an opener. Got plenty of close-up photos and videos. Also bro, you gotta get away from Subarus if you want something reliable to get you through the year 😭. Spoken from someone from both the car and chase communities, we call them “Su-Go-Booms” for a reason.
The older ones with the EJ253’s are the ones that go boom if they weren’t taken care of originally. If you can find an outback those aren’t bad. But otherwise look for other cars
We had a tornado on the beach here in Florida in the middle of January this year. First tornado I've ever lived through. I'll never forget how loud it was. Never imagined how LOUD the sound actually was and I'm pretty sure this was just a lower end tornado.
Kansas also saw a number of tornadoes, including an EF1 near Herriman, which caused notable but less severe damage. In Colorado, the tornado activity was somewhat more isolated and brief, with minimal destruction.
Hey Chris seeing your journey with your forester reminded me of my ups and downs with mine. My husband and I called it Franklin 🐢 because it was green and you had to go slow and steady so that it would not overheat or cause any other mechanical problems 😅 i miss that car because of the memories and storms we went through but not the costs lol. I wanted to watch this yesterday when you posted. But I got caught up. But I’m glad to see you finally got a new car! Yay! Hopefully you’ll have a much better experience next season. Also, I would get so excited every time I seen a tornado too. Idc what anyone says. Even though we don’t always want to hear extremely loud yelling, we are not there to experience the excitement of the tornado. The power that it holds and the magnitude of its structures. I’ve always wanted to chase. One day I’m telling you i will. ONE DAY, I’ll get that chance. lol. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving, Chris!

@-xirx- it's true I wasn't thinking of it from a content creator perspective. That being said the cost of two broken windscreens has got to be enough to justify the cost of finding a solution
Gotta watch out for those tumbleweeds man 😂😂. Your content is some of the best Tornado videos on RUclips. Don’t stop what you do Chris you’re awesome. And you’re not alone a turkey flew into my pickup truck as well in 2022.
I’ve been chasing for 5 years now and this year was the best. I also never had any luck in IA… until this year. I saw the new London and the greenfield tornado. Definitely will be trusting Iowa from now on lol.
I can't believe you missed the Greenfield tornado! It was an absolute BEAST of a tornado. Even I knew that while I was sitting in my bedroom watching it unfold. The twister had multiple vortices, tore through a windmill farm and even threw a few windmills far into the air.
Nice to see a fellow Coloradan! I was "ban" from storm chasing this year because I was pregnant at the time 😂. And no one trusted my mini van to make it! Glad you go to go out!!
When you talked about constant lightning, I was fortunate to see a 1 in 100 year lightning storm in Dayton Ohio in 1974. Yep, the same year Xenia got hit with a F5 tornado, which I was there a hour after it happened. I could spend a hour telling you what I saw that day for damage and cloud formations. But back to this lightning event. The lightning was in the clouds only and you would occasionally see it below the clouds. But it was like a strobe light going off. If you could count as fast as you can, you still could not count the lightning strokes. One year later, there was a 1 in 50 year cloud formation. Small whispy clouds from horizon to horizon filled the sky.
Chris, thank you for another excellent video; I really enjoyed it. The tumbleweed attack was terrifying! 😆 Your lightning and storm structure shots are gorgeous. I also enjoyed the brief cameo of Daniel Shaw's leg/
Crazy, I went back through the photos on my phone on all of the dates of this video and relived some wild weather! That 4/16 day spawned an EF1 tornado down the street from me!
I watched the Greenfield EF4 live on Ryan Hall’s channel. That thing looked like a monster on the radar and looked even more terrifying in person, from all the footage I’ve seen.
I was on the High Risk in OK/KS. I feel it dude. When we got to the one tornado emergency a few hours before my god damn truck check engine lighted right at the oklahoma border. Then I got the luxury of driving back to East KC with it on AVOIDING the shit
That May 25th storm in OK rolled through Bentonville, AR on the morning of the 26th and hit my place. One supercell dropped 7 tornados at 1am. Shit was wild.
