    If they would have added a check box for enabling ssh, that would have been great.

    • @_den_
      @_den_ 4 года назад +7

      Enable SSH on a headless Raspberry Pi (add file to SD card on another machine)
      For headless setup, SSH can be enabled by placing a file named ssh, without any extension, onto the boot partition of the SD card from another computer. When the Pi boots, it looks for the ssh file. If it is found, SSH is enabled and the file is deleted. The content of the file does not matter; it could contain text, or nothing at all.
      It is not worth waiting until someone else makes you a button for this purpose.

    • @k_8609
      @k_8609 4 года назад +6

      @Svein Are Karlsen i know how to do that, if they are making their own program to flash iso, they should add some extra features to it.

    • @mrsem6670
      @mrsem6670 4 года назад +6

      @@_den_ that's the point, instead of creating a empty ssh file every time I install the os. A simple button that will do the same and take less than a fraction of a second would be so much easier and better

    • @k_8609
      @k_8609 4 года назад

      @@_den_ I know how to, I just do a lot of testing, i always open power shell and type "New-Item ssh". I would be good if they just added a check box.

    • @_den_
      @_den_ 4 года назад

      @@k_8609 Yes, pressing a button is certainly easier, but it’s much more interesting to write the installer yourself, which will use the DD and add the options you need, it’s quite easy and useful to train your skills. As a result, it will be even easier to perform this procedure multiple times.

    Would be cool if it would also expand the partition, etc like a pi does on initial boot. Since I don't daily drive win/mac or Ubuntu, I'll stick with Etcher for now, but this is cool thing for the people who have had problems running Etcher etc in the past. Seems there is a flood of less technical people getting into emulation etc lately, all looking for "plug and play" solutions, so this will be good for them.

    The way you can choose your OS in this program reminds me of berryboot , they should build a cross platform tool to manage berryboot and install OS'es in this way. Another example to explain what i mean, the way that you control your XCP-ng server on your LAN from a Windows XCP-ng Client. Off topic just a thought , I started thinking of it when you said it was also doing a netinstall on top of flashing the image, like Rufus but different. So I guess thats the biggest benefit of having this app is a repo of netinstall images you can't get anywhere else unless your using something like berryboot.

  • @daa3417
    @daa3417 2 года назад

    I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to re-image a card. I’m not sure what’s happening but I’m pretty sure it has to do with the way the imager handles user password, first off only typing it ONCE is a major mistake as there’s a reason everyone wants you to type it twice. I’m sure I’ve made typos and with secure passwords it’s impossible to play with combinations until you guess it, so I tried to copy/paste the password to ensure it was right but there’s no option to show password like there is for the wlan pass... I think the imager does something to the pasted password because I simply cannot log in via SSH when I do that, it’s incredibly frustrating imaging a card multiple times over something so absurd. It could all be fixed by allowing the user to reveal the password and/or making you type it twice. Without the default user doing it wrong can only be fixed with a fresh OS install.
