    Get out of debt
    Smoke cigars and pipes
    Drink whiskey
    Sit on the porch
    Ponder frequently
This is what I do at least once a week, usually on Friday afternoons. Having a ritual is paramount to balance

I always find it interesting when a child says ‘I’m bored’ and the parent responds by treating that as a problem that must be solved…. We have created a generation that expects to be perpetually entertained…. Good video.

Totally agree. Slow down, take a walk / hike, sit on the porch, focus on nothing for the time a pipe will allow, and amazing clarity and or calmness can happen. I’ve made it a rule that if I’m enjoying a pipe on the back porch there’s no phones or chatter about stressful current events (myself included). Always regret when I break my own rules during “unwind time”.

I told my wife I wouldn't smoke a pipe, but I have one in my mouth frequently. I started at 18 after joining the navy (pre-insanity) when we could still grow a beard and they gave us beer rations. I had a chief who would smoke a pipe, then spin it upside down and run on the beach, so I did too. Sir Ralph Richardson, my favorite actor smoked a pipe. Great video even for the insane!

As a member of the young generation, I have felt incredibly overwhelmed by the fast paced and unnatural nature of modern life. The chaos and panic inducing movement compels me to be chaotic and in a state of panic and distress. It's incredibly difficult to slow the mind and body down and the pipe is a beautiful way to achieve it if you take to it well.

  • @RasThavas

You are right about slowing down and getting away from it all. Too many people today think that the cure for burnout and anxiety is to attack the problems even harder next time. People never seem to notice that their efforts are not more fruitful when they do this. "Sometimes the bucket just can not hold any more water". Highly intelligent people have trouble coming to terms with this simple truth.

I guess he was like his father a Yorkshireman who i could never understand as a kid but they both enjoyed their pipes. Well, i'm 57 now and i think i might take up pipe smoking now. Partly to remind me of my dad but partly to make me stop, slow down and unwind. Yeah.....its time. See you at the tobacco shop !

Tonight I smoked a pipe for the first time. I smoked cigarettes for a bunch of years but haven’t touched one in half a decade, however a few weeks ago I bought a pipe kit and some tobacco thinking that it might be something I want to do from time to time. Tonight I decided to try it out, and I really enjoyed it. The experience reminded me of the difference between listening to a Spotify playlist shuffling in the background while at work vs sitting in front of a record player listening to an album front to back through headphones... Smoking cigs or vaping is like this mindless extra task that you layer over the list of other things you’re doing at the same time, but the pipe took some effort and thought to get going and once it was going I didn’t want to set it down and look at my phone or anything, I just felt content doing nothing.

Often times creative thoughts come from moments like these. Given most don't do this anymore, it might explain why there's a lack of creativity in the world (e.g. sequels galore rather than new and original screenplays). The world needs more creativity.

I enjoy the little ritual of rolling tobacco. I don't like nicotine much, just puffing smoke and relaxing, so I try to get the "lightest" tasting tobacco I can get. A pack of 30-40 grams lasts me months, not an everyday smoker. I also have a pipe but it's maybe a bit burnt and I should take better care of it and try to find some light tobacco for it.

I keep seeing videos like this to justify pipe smoking by asking all these questions such as how antiquated it is, but it’s really so much simpler. Guys like to go to cigar bars and no one is trying to philosophically justify smoking cigars, so why pipes? They taste better, smell better, and is less of a time commitment than a cigar. It’s sort of a no brainer.

Since discovering my love of a tasty, spicy and sweet cigar, I have said the exact same thing. It allows for thought provoking down time. On rare occasions I enjoy a glass of bourbon or brandy with a cigar and that sets the mood for a nice relaxing sleep

Light up jump ropes are at the dollar store and it's still possible as an adult.
My kid said i look like i am in a ball. Lol
Worth a dollar to teach how to jump rope in a way that captures the attention and is exciting.
    Led hula hoops are cool.
Led wheel clips on the bike tires.

I do the same once a week but with weed combined with slow long held yoga stretches and meditation. Its total bliss and very spiritual.

I tried pipes. Several times. I really wanted to get into them. Truly. Mostly because of price. But cigars are just better in every single way. So I smoke 1 a week because of price. Life changing. Great channel though!
