Thank you all so much for watching and supporting our journey! We hope it inspires you as much as we enjoyed creating it. Watching these vines grow and eventually harvest kiwis right from our garden gate is something we're really looking forward to. Have a great one! Cheers ;)
It inspires me a lot. Specially your ground work to collect water and make a foodforrest was SO interesting. I have herited a small field and I am going to "built" the structure keeping your advice in mind. Growingseason is of course shorter here in Finland, but still I will use few of your hacks there. I have dreamed to move to Southern country for winter times and this food forest idea may make that possible so that I live partly North and partly South. Drive just caravan car and live there. I will continue to live "with" your journey hoping lots of kiwis and everything else to become. 😊
Moreno...you and your family are creating a functional and productive paradise! The smile on your face when the arbor was completed was worth it all! Excited to see the progress of your plants and then the harvest! Happy for you and what you're accomplishing.
Just to help > Kiwi vines need a male plant and a female plant to fruit. Down here the lovely gate would be well covered by year one, and reaching for the sky... but then you could add 8m+ of fence ( - in both directions) - it would be covered eventually, (And so worth it! Yum.) Regards all - Kiwi (person), kiwi(fruit) 'central' (Bay of Plenty, NZ).
Moreno, I was smiling the whole time I was watching. Really love this design and the vision more! Will indeed keep following for updates. Congratulations!
I'm so glad to see you work your homestead so diligently but with respectful knowledgeable techniques doing your best to work WITH THE EARTH not forcing growth unnaturally. ❤
Wow die omheining hadden we nog niet gezien. Jammer dat het nodig is. Prachtig aangelegd hoor. En mooi dat je extra drainage hebt gedaan om de planten water te geven. Jullie zijn all ver!
Nice job! You will notice next year that you will have 2 more pergulas. A very beautiful plant. You can also use it as a patio overgrowth, better than grapes. They provide a dense shady canopy and grow less wildly, requiring less pruning.
Hey, in the arch I would have just planted the female plant male plans can pollinate about 50-100m radius female plants. As kiwi wines are growing really big I would suggest you to plant the male one on a not that visible and valuable place. So you earn more fruits and even the male can grow bigger and produce more flowers as if the have to fight about the nutrients and space. Best regards DoM
't Is een kwestie van geduld.. Rustig wachten op de dag dat heel Portugal Hollands... Nice place you got there, you look proud and rightly so. "God created Earth, the Dutch will make it work one way or the other". 😉
What i noticed about passion fruit is that bumblebees in the north are too small to get pollen from the flowers while being attracted to it. Which means they are working hard without any yield, which probably kills hives. In south america the bumble bees are huge and easily knock the stampers to attract pollen. Passion fruit is banned from my garden.
I'll be building one for my garden this year, but mine will be very different. The new fence it's going into will need to be fairly solid to cut down the prevailing wind which damaged my plants last year. Likewise, the gate will also be almost solid. And it will be asymmetrical and it won't be brown. What you've done is great and very practical, my architectural technologist autistic brain works differently 🙃
I think you will need a lot more space for Kiwi''s they take a lot of room once they get established, I have one coming over my fence from my neighbour's yard, we have put in more uprights and crosstrees with wires to accommodate the spread.
I see that you added a fence around your veggie garden and your firepit relaxation area. I suppose that it is meant to keep the wild pigs and deer out?
We have no deer pressure here and the wild boar don't come as close anymore with our dogs. We installed it for a bit of wind protection, but primarily to keep weed seeds from flying in the garden 😉
Boa Tarde Moreno, we are currently staying in Portugal looking at land with the idea of a possible purchase. Our ideas are pretty much the same as yours as you started out. How far are you from Seia and would we( me, my wife and 3 boys) be able to visit you at some point?

Moreno, that is a beautiful arch! Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️. You guys turned a bare dirt into a beautiful and productive place/garden! Blessings!
I like to send a couple of messages per video because it really does help send them higher on the algorithm!!❤

Awesome, thank you!
My grandma had one of these when I was a kid, she'd planted a pear tree on each side and spent a lot of time carefully weaving the brancines into it
Absolute. Genius . The rainwater harvestibg with swales in a dry semi arid areas. I try to promoteire these principles

Beautiful
I'd always wanted a passion fruit archway 🤗 but, kiwi sounds more yummy 😋 🙃
Passion fruit archway is the next one!! It'll need a bit of extra protection here, but we'll make it work 😀

Fijn dat je er weer bent👍🏻
Amazing to see what one can do with his hands. For someone like myself with 2 left hands, it's still joyful to watch. Keep up the great work!
Fabulous, a joy to watch.
I think I will build the exact same arbor. It looks easy and I have extra wood. I will have it for my grape plants. Thanks for the instructions.
love those videos
Have you considered keeping bees? Would love to watch that journey
Thanks, that was very well done! 👏
You have a wonderful super team!👍👍👍👏👏👏😊
i made one on my allotment 😊

I love your journey so much!
Beautiful, your smile says it all! I would love to grow kiwi … can anyone share the min and max temps they need to thrive.
I will follow the idea, thanks so much.
Very NICE🥰👍

Love your attention to detail! Do you plan to sell your excess food?Earning a living always hard in Portugal!!
Leuk gedaan, mooi al die materialen in de tuin die je in de omgeving vind. Ik vind speelse lijnen ook leuker dan alles recht.
Wouldn't it help your trees if u added some compost under and around the roots?
Nice addition to the garden! What is the barrier around the garden for? Wind? Sun? I'm assuming its not permanent, were the new plants suffering?
GREAT information here and your instructions a perfect. Sadly this technique will not work here in Massachusetts due to all the boulders in the earth.
Great work 😁
I subscribed to your channel 🎉 I also gave a like 🙏 Have a happy day..
My experience is the spikes are rusted out in just a few years. I hope your spikes won’t rust.
I see that you added a fence around your veggie garden and your firepit relaxation area. I suppose that it is meant to keep the wild pigs and deer out?

Nice, would you mind sharing what type of fabric you have surrounding your garden and why you do that? Is it for wind? thanks so much.
How are things going with the wild boars on the property?

Thanks for sharing your creations with us! I'd like to create a similar one. Could you tell me the dimensions of your garden entrance ? 😊
Hi. How tall and thick are the beams?
I hope EVERYONE sends a few messages his way!!
Tegen mij is gezegd 1 mannetje op 3 vrouwtjes ,in viseu agri shop
😊
Why the plastic fencing around the veg garden. Wind, seeds blowing in?
Yes! Exactly that. A bit of wind protection, but primarily for weeds.
Jesus loves you!
The music is a little too loud compared to the narration
Got it! Will keep an eye out for it. Thanks ;)
What makes this so Kiwi??? coming from a New Zealander ( Kiwi ).
What did he plant the side of it 🤔
There now.
there is an animal called kiwi like the one from new zealand, but there is also a fruit called kiwi from around meditenary grounds. It's very healthy
