I don't think I've ever seen Magic Soap (that is, the ability of a save point to recharge you actually be turned on from an in-game item) EVER implemented into a hack before. I must say also, Junko's pose when she acquires a Suit is... awesome. This little lady's been through a lot but she's still spunky and spry and ready to face the world ahead. And ready to probably become an indie game star, I'd say. I've played Guacamelee and Gato Roboto, or "Mexicotroid" and "Meowtroid" as I call them. Junko absolutely might join them.
World Building Lore: The snake has followed her every day for years after she gave it water. Because the snake worshiped her to the point of idolatry, it wanted her to be a goddess. But the snake was small and mundane, until it entered her dream where it could be great and powerful. Every night she dreamed the same dream of the snake trying to place her as a goddess, but the dream was imperfect and the snake struck her down in the dream, which is why there are so many twisted and broken Junkos in the world. It did this every night, each time trying to make her a goddess in the dream so that it could worship her for years, placing things in the dream to make her more powerful until finally she was strong enough to lay the snake low as it worshiped her, and ascend from her dream back into the waking world.
The moment the intro music stopped, I kinda got chills. Damn, this girl really had no chill over an overly affectionate snake... Then again, that snake's probably a creep. ...in hindsight, I think I now understand a bit better what the snake is meant to represent. It is called Asmodeus, after all... Also, this is one a those hacks where it feels like it being a hack of another game is actually holding it back, because this looks so good, it might actually become even better if it became its own thing, freed from the constraints of another game!
@@PastelHime yeah... not only that, it seems like it's trying to clone Junko, down in the Deep Purple, with the many failed clones being sent to the Blood Bethel. And now for some extra squick value: we already know what the serpent motif is meant to represent by its... shape, so to speak. So what do you think is the white-ish, gooey substance that's filling the lower levels of Sheol? Also, I found a secret room right before the final boss. A bedroom, arguably a recreation of Junko's bedroom, with a frog statue that says something along the lines of "why can't we stay here forever?" Something that brings me comfort is that the gigantic malformed Junko clone sacrifices herself for the real Junko, and when it dies it gives her the power of Love, which is the beam power that kills Asmodeus. As the demon of lust, Asmodeus only understands carnal passion, and blind, obsessive worship. Sacrificing oneself for another is indicative of a deeper bond than flesh or crazy devotion... it shows true, actual care and love for others, which Asmodeus can't truly understand. I don't know why that particular Junko clone was the one to spare Junko (other than the fact it has to fit with Super Metroid's structure), but still, it's nice to think about.
