  • This is elevator #4 at Cabela's. in Hammond IN. I assume 1 and 2 are service elevators. Anyway, notice the interesting propulsion system this holeless hydraulic employs. the actual ram appears to be fastened to the floor in the pit and the cylinder is on the side of the cab. These are not roped hydraulic.
    These are telescoping holeless hydralic.
The ropes are used to keep the hydraulic pistons/rams in-sync so it can "telescope" properly.
It is also holeless like you said because the piston/jack is upside down to prevent a hole from being dug into the ground.
You can also see pretty well how the 2-Speed door system works.
Very nice elevator and very nice video. I have the exact same pair in a parking lot. It squeaks and bumps a lot.

I noticed they go up faster than they can go down.
I rode one similar in the speed ddepartment. I'll send that one along, too.

2:37 Most Schindler holeless elevators (even the former 300A) use that type of jack setup (It is pretty weird). The jacks are mounted upside down in the elevator cab, with the pistons rods facing toward the floor.
I even found a video of a DOVER machine room with an upside down jack as well (Similary to a Schindler 321A): ruclips.net/video/rkhliwNsZy4/видео.html

The Cabela's in Kansas City has the same type of elevator, but they could have made them glass.
