Fun fact the first ruler of pergamon under the Attalids Philetaerus was an enunch by birth, leading to him adopting his nephew Eumenes I which didnt have any known sons either, therefore the throne past to Attalus I Soter which was Eumenes first cousin once removed.
One of the most interesting things I find about ancient history is how aggressive nations were back then. No mass communication and yet every kingdom was like, "Fan out as far as possible, we must own the world!" Sucks that Pergamon was caught between the expansion of the Romans and Persians. I just did a bunch of research on the Viking Age for an episode and was dumbfounded just how much they had managed to conquer.
I always find it amazing how much people of this timeframe ACTUALLY did. Take Alexander, Seleucus, Pompey, Caesar, Augustus, they were all over the place within a short amount of time!
@@AncientHistoryGuy There is indeed a small problem visibly, I have seen it on an 'annex' page, it has not appeared in the news ... but I do not see where the problem comes from ...Cheers, Phil.
Hey Quill! Was watching your latest vid this morning. And it's going slow, lots going on not a lot of time to dedicate to the channel! I have scripts written and ready to go. I'm currently in the process of planning something quite big for AHG but its a lot of planning and logistics are proving to be a bit chaotic! But yes ultimately things are in the works, its just lots of other stuff taking up a lot of time as well! :D
Not to nitpick but this kept coming to my attention. Where you labelled Pergamon (modern day Bergama) isn’t correct. You labelled closer to Troy. Bergama should be further down next to Izmir
Fuck Off, one one cares about your petty, childish feud with Republic of North Macedonia. The FACT is Macedonia, while a Greek PERIPHERY, was not not part of Greece itself.
@@SirAroace nope, it was Greek, they were considered Hellenes by other Greeks aswell as considered themselves to be Hellenes, they spoke Greek, there was no unified Greece since the Myceneans by then so they simple were one of the many separate indepent Hellenic states and one of the least liked among all after the Athenians, dosent mean they can't be independent now tho, so stop lying and saying they werent Greek when they were
