Fun fact the first ruler of pergamon under the Attalids Philetaerus was an enunch by birth, leading to him adopting his nephew Eumenes I which didnt have any known sons either, therefore the throne past to Attalus I Soter which was Eumenes first cousin once removed.

I'm currently in the process of planning something quite big for AHG but its a lot of planning and logistics are proving to be a bit chaotic! One of the most interesting things I find about ancient history is how aggressive nations were back then. No mass communication and yet every kingdom was like, "Fan out as far as possible, we must own the world!" Sucks that Pergamon was caught between the expansion of the Romans and Persians. I just did a bunch of research on the Viking Age for an episode and was dumbfounded just how much they had managed to conquer.

    • @AncientHistoryGuy

I always find it amazing how much people of this timeframe ACTUALLY did. Take Alexander, Seleucus, Pompey, Caesar, Augustus, they were all over the place within a short amount of time!
