You've basically echoed my thoughts exactly. I think most of us wouldn't get as impatient with waiting, as long as we had some sort of idea of how development is going. I am completely fine to wait for Deltarune, for example, as Toby Fox frequently communicates with fans and gives detailed progress reports on development - he doesn't share that many spoilers. I personally don't want many more spoilers, because I'd love to experience the game as blindly as possible. They don't even have to go into as much detail as Toby does - that tweet from Leth is an alright level of communication that cultivates a healthy relationship between fans and developers. It probably wouldn't take that much time or resources to put together some sort of small update.
Unless they're locked down in contracts or something and are obligated to not talk about the game. I don't know. I always prefer to give the benefit of the doubt with things like this. There must be some reason for the silence.

@@HarryButHarry I also thought they might be under a contract but in case they are under one, I didnt really want to talk about it. I didn't want to cause more problems and backlash for team cherry.

No they wouldn't , they already said this multiple times and people didn't care because that is sort of common sense , the only news they want is either a release date or at the very least a progress report on how close they are done to finishing the game . Its been over 5 years since the announcement and that is the only thing they care about at this point .
Saying we are working on it are just empty words at this point , too much time has passed for a response like that to have any meaning .

honestly, i wouldn't. unless team cherry say something along the line of "sorry for keeping you waiting" (a reason for not communicating at all would be ok, but not neccesarily needed), I don't think I'll be satisfied.
@@vinhnguyen-o5z sane, not happy... but thinking about it (after my comment), they would need something, if it isn't an apology or a date, then just how advanced they are, but being specific, at this point, they should just have the last area or just some fixes until they finish. But that could probably not work just because of their lack of communication
They were backed into a corner, but it's also of their own design. They had to announce Silksong, since the planned Hornet DLC was getting parceled off into its own game. But then they released a trailer and that E3 demo showcase with Nintendo Treehouse 5 years ago, which implied the game was much further along that it was. Then they had that Xbox trailer 2 years ago, with Xbox saying all games showcased would be out within the next 6 months, and that obviously slipped by after bringing people to an uproar.
I legitimately think a planned release date, even if that's a year or two years out and subject to being delayed further, would be enough to quell a lot of the discontentment. If it's for a game that's not "complete" at release and subject to free DLC additions/expansions/readjustments, similar to Hollow Knight, that would be great. Just set the date two years out as a hard commitment. If the game is still not "done," wrap up the core story and design elements and fix/expand it with DLC. If it gets done early, move the date forward and everyone will celebrate that we get an early release.
Instead they're just in this weird limbo state where we just get an ocassional "this is still in progress" every 6 months, plus *other* partners occasionally saying "the game is coming soon" without any committed dates . Their website and company Twitter don't even post updates. Just get it out of this limbo.

I hadn’t realised it would have been 8 years of development, that’s a long time. Hopefully it’s similar to Hollow knight and the scope is just getting bigger and bigger and it’ll be incredible. Anyway, it’s going to come out tomorrow…

It hasn't been in development for 8 years. Hollow Knight's last DLC (before the Hornet DLC that became Silksong) was released in the second half of 2018. Development on Silksong as its own game had to start after that point, which means it's more like 6 years.
Well, I can't be sure but in an interview, Team Cherry did say that they started creating Silksong shortly after Hollow Knight's release so the Silksong DLC for Hollow Knight was started 8 years ago and was probably scraped when they decided to create a whole game. So Silksong the game started development 6 years ago but the Silksong DLC was started 8 years ago. Sorry for the misunderstanding I should have put that in the video as well.

I know this is a dumb argument and isn't necessarily Cherrys fault but some people who adored Hollow Knight and would have given anything to play the sequel are now dead and I can't help but thinking if they wouldn't have taken SEVEN YEARS this wouldn't have been a problem.

Team cherry must have gotten a couple more staff as they could after the success of hollow knight. After this game does is released, 2025/2026... I think they will take a huge break, not expecting anything after. It's not hard for them to say we are almost there or still have some time to spend. Do they think fans will turn on them if they said it needs further improvement?

You make comparisons between 2 games that have both been out for like a decade to a game that is a sequel to a game that had it's final update released in late 2018 those 2 are not gonna have the same level of communication, let's be realistic they will release the game when it's ready. Besides the gaming community as a whole has shown that it doesn't deserve information on releases I mean if handed an inch they take a mile, if you say you'll release a game 3 months from now and delay it by 3 more you just get death threats... I think Team Cherry is entirely within their right to share as little as they want. They should be allowed to live their lives normally, and not have to suffer because of the greedy, slop oriented space the gaming market has turned it.
Can people just let Team Cherry cook and focus on something else in their lives?

What makes you say “we’re not getting enough information! This means that the game is clearly not worth my money!” They decide to go through a regular ass development cycle with little communication so they can focus on work and your response is to say “I’ll just pirate it”

Bruh you guys be acting like team cherry owes you something. They are just some indie studio that wants to make a sequel to their game. Stop putting so much pressure on them.
I think a lot of people like myself have just become burnt out from the wait and hoping for news and have since turned out attentions to other games.
I myself have turned to Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, another Indie Metroidvania that reminds me a lot of Hollow Knight, but is a good game in it's own regards.
When Silksong News does come, I will flock back to the community. But until then, my own hype shall remained sealed away and dormant. I other games to look forward to, Silksong can wait
My problem is that I played all the games I wanted while waiting, just like you I have played Bo: Path, I have played Nine Sols another incredible metroidvania and I liked it so much I made an hour-long video about it, but by now I have played everything I have wanted
@@Nymm_ That's unfortunate. I find myself lucky in the fact that there is still a decent list of games I want to get and play while waiting for Silksong, some new, some older. But I do fear what will happen once I reach the end of that list, as the only thing left to do will be to replay what I've already played and wait for the next game that catches my eyes
Give me a break they're not developing a triple A title and even then they're just not valuing their community at all, I've backed this game and I regret doing that no matter how great you think you are you don't turn your back on your community like that not even a peep for this long is ridiculous
Stop acting like you backed Silksong. You have not backed this game. You backed Hollow Knight, the game as a whole, and not just the "second playable character" goal. Yes, that DLC is not coming out, but Hollow Knight already turned out so much better than what most people expected and you should be greatful for that. This is how Kickstarters work, you are not guaranteed to get what you pay for, but if you have faith in a project, it might be worth it. Moreover, Silksong's scope is far beyond a second playable character in Hollow Knight and you WILL get a free copy when it comes out.

@@ahmadramzy2716 funny how you complain about not getting Silksong (which you will eventually get) but not complain about all the other stuff that was promised on the Kickstarter but were not in Hollow Knight when it released. Multiple NPCs, enemies, bosses and areas. Why is it that you only care about the 2nd playable character?
