- A song by Utopia from the 'Swing to the Right' era. This wasn't on the album, but was released as the b-side of 'One World', and its only CD release (to my knowledge) was on a Japanese reissue of the album from a few years back (it wasn't on the 2012 reissue for some reason). The lead vocals are by Kasim Sulton...or Willie Wilcox...I'm not sure :-/
This is Willie singing. Thanks for the post, I've been a HUGE fan since I was 10 in the early 80's. I have never heard or known about this song till today and it made my day to find it. All these years I've been wanting to hear a "new" Utopia song! Now I need to find an MP3 of this and Umbrella Man to download. :)
This song was supposed to be on the album but pulled because Bearsville thought the album was too political. The original running order of the album was Side One: The Up, Special Interest, God and Me, Fahrenheit 451, Shinola, Swing to the right. Side 2: Last dollar on earth, For the love of Money, Lysistrata, Junk Rock (Million Monkeys), Only Human, One World. Special Interest was used as a B side and God and Me was canned. The album was re submitted with the running order it was released with but Bearsville still let it sit for nearly another 6 months before they finally released it.
This back story is of more interest, than Special Interest is.
Pulled from the "Swing to the Right" album for being ... too political? That's adorable!
I like the tune. Thanks for posting, @LaineyCrusoe!
This is truly a gem with that hooky "Todd" guitar magic.Definetly a Wille song.
The track "The Up" for some reason isn't uploaded anywhere on YT, somebody should...
Actually, I think the vocal is by Willie Wilcox
This fits well with the theme if the album and is better than some of the tracks on it.
Yeah, sounds like Willie.
great tune!!!
I love Kadim
Sorta mastered from the acetate raw cut.
Nope Kasim
Nope, Willie
