This is by far the best sound quality I can get out of the grooves of this old (1961) mono LP that was intended for children, but the musical quality of the composition is just superb, still love it, its a mix of an american style western score with some Ennio Morricone "drama" and a pinch of John Barry (between the lines)...06:31 this short orchestral part seems to be a kind of quintessence of this album, this melody is so glamourus hollywood like but still italian gracefull and melancholic...wonderfull, they just dont make soundtracks like this anymore...I just love this unique early 1960s Mono Soundtrack from my childhood, its the rare Italian version, composed by the famous Italian movie composer Riz Ortolani instead of Martin Boettcher who did the german versions. In fact this very dramatic melody is strongly reminiscent of the contemporary Elmer Bernstein "the magnifiscent seven" soundtrack. I am not sure whether this 1961 track was ever released on a stereo LP? In more than 30 years I have not seen a second vinyl album of this tune, this one came as a birthday present from my uncle who used to live and work in Rome more than 30 years ago.

Thank you, I wished this wonderfull tune would be available on a HQ stereo Album, this 1961 score was used only for the italian and south american market (maybe USA too?) In Germany, UK, Spain and France we had the smoother but less dynamic Martin Boettcher composed soundtrack. Yes I can highly recommend the Stanton 310 stage, very low noise and a superclean reproduction, one of the best broadcast stages ever built and its very underrated due to its industrial looks.
Over the years I had owned, sold or repaired just about every bit of audio equipment ever made.. I worked in the industry for 40 years and have seen everything....Well so I thought! Sorry to ignore the music, but the Soviet turntable has me wondering and salivating (yuck)..I guess like most things of that Soviet era - built like a tank?
I have used the Philips GP422 cartridges and they sounded marvelous, even if not rated or praised at the time. I remember being shocked how nice they sounded.

Yeah welcome ;-) The dutch broadcast company in Hilversum used the Philips 412 and 422 carts for very HQ sound transriptions from vinyl to tape. And dont forget the Philips vinyl record pressing works used the 422 carts too for quality checkings of their own records. Its a superb MM cart, but only give it the Jico or Tonar-Nagaoka Shibata aftermarket needle or (even better) the original D68 SST 4 channel needle, never use cheap aftermarket needles on these excellent generators. The Elektronika b101 table is a much enhanced TD125, it weighs around 30 KG. A very good belt driven table that does not need any tuning because its XXXL massive.

Do you have a dedicated MONO cart. ? Those usually provide optimal performance with mono records.
I have a special mono needle by Nagaoka, made for the 412/422 Philips cart series, but this record here is a mid 1960s true stereo pressing taken from an older Mono music master tape by Cinecittà rome studios who did the soundtrack together with Riz Ortolani for this italian Old Shatterhand movie version. The german Karl May versions got a different soundtrack by Martin Boettcher in true stereo. It would make no sense to play this record here with a mono needle. I would love to find a true stereo LP of this wonderfull Riz Ortolani track but I think there never was a stereo master tape. I rate this Riz Ortolani soundtrack even higher than the also excellent Martin Boettcher versions. The Ortolani one is much more complex, very close in quality to Ennio Morricone.
