    I’m about 7 or so years older than one of my tables I play at. I know this because the dm immediately introduced himself as being a teen and let me know when he recruited that all but his brother, who was my age roughly, were also teens. Honestly it was a very enjoyable game and still is. The teen dm is quite talented, if a bit rough around the edges regarding calling out his players for misbehavior (but that is what my and his brother are for, to help back him up). It’s basically a reformed murderhobo group now but everyone is having fun and those that left managed to save their friendship with dm (they were starting to drive him crazy enough with their murderhobo antics that he was starting to feel resentment). Basically it’s a good game. I’m glad I stayed despite the red flags these started out as. We actually recruited several more players and both are female players which seems to have only helped temper the group and now everyone is actively roleplaying these days, even the barbarian which is pretty nice because this is his first ever dnd game/campaign ever and, according to the dm and his brother, the barbarian is like the living trope of a jock outside dnd which the irony of is not lost on me. It’s a pretty nice table. We do actually have homework help times too so it feels more like a mentorship too. I’m still glad to joined and I look forward to seeing these players grow. I can only hope they enjoy this time they have which is limited since some are only a few years off or less from college.

    Props to the guy for staying cause after a little bit I would have just left. The dad inviting a man in his 20’s to come play with his kids is fine (nothing wrong with adults and kids playing a game together.), the creepy part is not telling him that he’s playing with kids. The monks not being religious is odd. I’m guessing the DM doesn’t actually know what a monk is, it’s not a big deal and not something I would have left over, but definitely something I would point out to them. The parents judging I when I would have left. Like you invited me over to play with your kids, why are you judging me for being into the game that you wanted me to come over and play with them? Also why are you standing there just watching? If it’s cause you have a 20 something year old man that you don’t know too well playing with your kids, well Mom, you can blame your husband for that for inviting me in the first place. I was expecting to call our child abandonment or something with the parents leaving their kids with OP, but that didn’t happen.
    Like I don’t play DND, and I don’t know the ins and outs of the game but from watching different creators on this platform I know enough about the game. So why is someone brings a few pairs of dice that surprising? I’m guessing the parents don’t know anything about the game. To put the dice thing into perspective, normal house holds have a few pairs of dice usually. My family specifically has more than most probably. I have a collection of dice from when I used to play Pokémon that we don’t use cause those dice are really small. We also have a game called Here To Slay and it only needs a pair of dice per player but we like matching the dice colours to our party leaders do we got some more colourful dice. So the parents shaming OP for having a few pairs of dice for being into his hobby is pretty normal for most people who take any sort of interest to to games that need dice

    • @hyzmarie

      @@lootgoblinmarketplace well… I was in a campaign with a white dragonborn named Bloody Murder. That name pretty much tells you his entire personality. Our first session, we met an old man on the road, but the conversation rapidly devolved into Bloody Murder vs our barbarian (the most experienced player) as Bloody Murder attempted to kill the old man. Eventually, he got past the barbarian and was promptly knocked out by the old man. We stuffed him in a wagon and continued on.
      The next session, we got to the tavern where adventurers hang out and look for jobs. Bloody Murder decided to drink as much beer as he could in a minute and passed out. The bartender dragged him into the back so he wouldn’t leave before paying. Well, BM didn’t have money to pay the bartender, and since we didn’t want to get stuck with the bill, the rest of the party skedaddled off on a job. My character gets a bad feeling about leaving him alone (not for *his* safety, though) and returns to the bar to find that BM has attacked the bartender with his fists (and not his breath weapon for some reason??) and barely succeeded on death saves. So I and a buddy bring him back to the group, tied to a stick like a roast pig.
      Most of the party wasn’t there the next session, so those who were didn’t do the main quest. Instead, I and the aforementioned buddy (both artificers) bought the cheapest inn room we could find (as BM was banned from the other inn) and engineered the best locks we could think of.
      Once we finished the quest, we let BM out, and he promptly went to the bar he had just been banned from and used an illusion spell to make it look like it was on fire. He then tried to climb onto the roof and failed pretty miserably. Well, he comes with us on the next quest, with the understanding that if he doesn’t do something to hurt anyone other than himself, we won’t hurt him (much as we were sick of BM’s shenanigans.) Honestly, only the barbarian was against killing BM, but he was pretty much the leader, so we chilled out. BM, however, did not.
      After several shenanigans with illusion spells (including stabbing my character with an illusory knife) we decided to get rid of him. We were on a ship, and didn’t want to endanger the crew or ourselves by trying something too big, but I DID have two bags of holding (because artificer). So, after realizing that it wouldn’t destroy the ship, I convinced BM to put one bag inside another. And to be clear, he was all for going to another plane (though I doubt he knew anything about the Astral Plane in particular). Just like that, we beat the true BBEG.

    • @hyzmarie
      @hyzmarie 9 месяцев назад

      @@lootgoblinmarketplace to clarify: we were all new players, and as this campaign was run by a public library, we couldn’t really kick BM. Most of this was in good fun, and it’s become an inside joke since. The DM was ok with the shenanigans (he’s a big believer in letting players have the natural consequences for their actions). BM’s player didn’t bear any ill will towards us, as even he realized it had gone too far, and we’re still all on good terms almost a year later.

    Or that time i started a cult and got excommunicated from the church... the Holy Roman Catholic Church... this happened in real life but the cult also was a d&d club
    Or that time my brother donated half of his characters wealth to the church of olimandara before realizing that it was a priest using sending and not olimandara speaking to him, telling him to tithe
    I had one character snap a dragons neck by falling from the edge of space
    Or that time i blew up a gelatinous cube with some simple chemestry
    Or my character that became the gnomish god of beauty by grinding preformances and puting every cent into buffing his charisma to the point that one day he was just playing a gig and garl glittergold shows up and is like congrats you got a job
