She also wrote on tumblr : “That one is MAC matte liquid lip in Back in Vogue - I’m also obsessed with the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Double Dare” when fans asked her about a lipstick she was wearing in one of her Selfies!
Absolutely! 👍 I saw that in my research but I don't own products from those brands (or many liquid lipsticks at all) so it wasn't something I could include x
Matilda I bought back in vogue because of her and it works surprisingly well on me unlike expected (I thought my skin would be too dark) but what really amazed me was I knew that shade would be perfect for my best friend, and got it for her birthday, and it looks ABSOLUTELY STUNNING on her!! Only thing is she isn’t a fan of lipstick or makeup at all so I only get to see it occasionally but it’s still worth it :D
omg as a Zayn and Taylor stan, I’ve been obsessed with her glittery red lip from the IDWLF since forever and I’m so glad I finally know what it is!! I owe ya one!
This is when I really appreciate Lisa Eldridge and other real makeup artists sharing their makeup tips, tricks and favourite products cause like yes let me take in all the tips cause I know some makeup artists won’t
Absolutely Rach! We're so lucky that many makeup artists post product breakdowns these days. They definitely don't owe us that information (it's a bit like a famous painter revealing the exact colours and combinations used to create a masterpiece, which could increase the risk of imitation) so I'm so appreciative when they do share details ☺️👏 x
Oh Beyoncé would be such a fun video too! She wears glossier as well so I feel like you both share some products in common. Maybe not the same colors though.
Trust me, she was one of the very first people I researched when I started this series a long time ago! But sadly we hardly have any products in common so she's not someone I can feature 😭 (I try to find a balance between showing actual products and similar items, because I've been criticised in the past when it was mostly dupes. I understand that - I think dupes videos are best as a tutorial which sadly isn't my style) x
i love love loveee how the ✨make up bag philosophy✨ is translated even when theres not a lot of source material!!! hats off to you and those hours of research,,,,,,,,, ur more dedicated in finding sources than i am for my masters whoops 💖 💖
Literally gasped out loud when I saw this video on my feed. So glad to see my two favourite things - your celebrity makeup bag series and Taylor Swift - combined. Thank you so much for this one, Matilda. Much love from India! ❤️
I love how all her fans got it on Instagram -- there's dedication for you! I did love how this led to us discovering a few products of yours that we've not seen before (Byredo candle, OPI Big Apple Red) -- this girl here has a New York city obsession as well xx
Just came to realize how clean your videos are! The product are all clean like they are almost new (lipsticks bullet are perfectly in shape, palettes looked like they are never used..!) Not sure how you do this (do you clean and wipe your makeup before filming? If yes I appreciate it) but the results are fantastic. Love ya!
Thank you Zara! I always try to look after my products and keep them tidy and clean ☺️👍 Because I wear minimal makeup and sheer washes of colour, I apply light layers which doesn't make much of a dent in products x
I love her red lip so much. She is my all time favourite superstar and singer. Sometimes I just listen to her songs while sleeping. Her voice is absolutely marvellous and angellic ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i must confess these are my favorite of your videos! and i’ve been a fan of taylor swift since i was a little girl!!!! always loved her classic beauty look
Thank you Emma! Unfortunately I'm not familiar with many K-Pop stars and this series lets me research people whose beauty style I've admired for a long time, but I'm sure you'll find information online about what they use. I don't have any secret sources - I just use the internet too! ☺️👍 x
I always appreciate the detective work you do on this series! 🕵🏻♀️👏 I loved the insight from her Netflix feature too, so fascinating to do her own makeup and nails, something I didn't expect but appreciated! x
YESSS! I've been waiting for this video ever since you started the series. I feel pretty cheeky about the fact that i asked abt this video when I saw dragon girl on your channel recently :D it IS hard to find this info on her so THANKS
when I was 17 I did some Tumblr research and put the nars lip pencil in dragon girl and Bobbi brown's shimmer brick in bronze on my Christmas list - I still use them today! I also used to wear winged eyeliner every single day, even if I had to apply it in class. It started as a Taylor inspired look before becoming a sort of beauty security blanket lol
I absolutely adore these videos! I can’t afford buying all the luxurious products but watching this videos and using similar products I have in my collection makes me feel so good! These types of videos also help me rediscover makeup, for me it’s like going shopping, just without spending any money! Thank you Matilda❤️
Thank you so much Anastasia, such lovely feedback! I love hearing that this series inspires you to look for similarities in your own collection - that's exactly what I hope for ☺️👏 x
I wore red lipstick and liquid liner pretty much every day when I was 16 because I loved Taylor so much! This was a real nostalgia trip with the added bonus of actually knowing what I’m doing with makeup now! Thank you x
Ohh so nice to hear that Ellen! ☺️💄 It's amazing how long she's been part of many of our lives - I always remember where I was when a new album came out! x
Yes yes yes !!! I ve been a fan of Taylor swift since 2012 and I ve always wondered what beauty products she uses, and she never reveals as if she doesn’t want people to focus on her look but her music and talent. Love this series
Thank you! It sounds like she's a beauty lover and she's replied to fans on Tumblr with product names so she seems open to talk about it, but I'm glad the focus is mostly on her groundbreaking career 👏 x
Sonia Kashuk had my favorite red lipstick before the brand stopped carrying makeup products. It was a bullet cream or satin formula. I decided I really wanted a similar shade after the bullet broke on mine (it was no longer being sold then) and when doing research trying out other shades and looking for a pink red, I stumbled across Nars Dragon Girl partly because of Taylor’s love for it. Magazines featured it because of her. It really hit the spot for me shade wise, even if it is matte. Your video reminded me of that hunt and I thought you might enjoy hearing about it.
I’m so thrilled that Taylor obviously loves Pomegranate Noir! It’s my perfume of choice during the Autumn and Winter months. It’s rich and sultry and I get so many compliments when I wear it 😊
Super fan here. I guessed Taylor when you teased on Instagram the other day!! A trick for candles is letting them burn, particularly the first time long enough that the whole surface becomes liquid, otherwise it will just burn out the middle. Also trim the wick down before you relight to keep the heat even, also preventing the middle burning too fast. If it gets really uneven, after I blow a candle out before it gets really hard I pushed the wax on the sides down to make it even again. Xx
Thank you Jemima! I follow all of those steps already but because this votive is wider than my usual Diptqyue candles, it never gets to a point where it all melts, even during the long first burn. Pushing the wax down is a good tip! 👍 x
I found you through this series and I love it! You have a charming, soothing voice and I love your take on everything and trust your recommendations. The way you find similar products in your own collection inspires me to first see what I have before I put something on my to-buy list. Thanks for all the work you put into your channel! ♡
*_I'm a former Swiftie and her iconic red lipstick and eyeliner was so amazing_* PS. You and Taylor would come along and get along since you and her are both a cat person
The Clinique high impact mascara is really great for fluttery voluminous lashes, you should try it. I love it and the minis are probably better than full size because it has a shorter wand.
I have been waiting for this video for a long time lol, I love her soooo much. When I was lucky enough to touch her hand during the reputation tour I like zoomed in on her nails and noticed that her nails were sparkly blue and red for the 4th of July so you better believe I broke out the sparkly shades after that 😂😂😂 I’ve also seen her do a sparkly light purple a lot and I copy that quite a bit too.
Thank you Allison! Lucky you going to the Reputation tour, I was travelling for work and couldn't make the dates line up! She definitely wears a lot of sparkly polish ✨💅 x
oh my god, i did spot the tom ford eyeliner and too faced mascara while watching miss americana and got a little bit giddy because i finally know what makeup she uses! i also recalled the bit when you said you went to taylor swift's concert so i could only hope you'll cover her makeup bag but here we are!
Wrap foil around the candle, make sure the foil is high over the edge of the candle, try to reduce the opening. Put an elastic band around around to hold the foil in place. Slightly funnel the foil so there's still an opening for oxygen. Do this a few times and the concentrated heat will slowly bring down the wax along the sides. Do this now n then and you'll maximise the burn capacity xx 🙂
Thank you! I'd heard about the foil trick.. it didn't seem very aesthetically pleasing given candles are as much about seeing them as smelling them for me! 😂 x
That's the thing Kristin, it's definitely not just filming time! There's hours of research initially, then gathering images, filming, editing, writing the voiceover, recording the voiceover, editing the audio into the video, preparing the description box and all of the links, and all of the final upload steps on RUclips. It's a lot! 😂 I go through this for every single video I make, but the research process is much longer for this series - I spend *hours* looking for information and trying to find multiple sources! x
My favorite Taylor song is All Too Well , and I’m so excited to find out that she’s worn Pirate too ! It’s my all time favorite red lipstick that I couldn’t stay away from after hearing you mention it
To burn your candle evenly google 'candle shades and trays'. There are loads of affordable and beautiful options out there. Did you know that when you burn a candle unevenly, the wax that is left behind is called the candle's 'memory'? I thought that was just beautiful :) Xxx
I love pinup makeup for everyday and I love Taylor Swift's makeup, especially in her Wildest dreams video. ❤️ Fab video. Thanks for your all your hard work Matilda as always. ✌️
You’re a genius for creating this series Matilda....they’re very interesting and engrossing and give a realistic peek into the stars’ looks. Thank you for this 💖💖 as for Ms. Swift there are so many songs I love but off the top of my head Begin Again and White Horse come to mind-beautiful melodies and words.
Jo Malone pomegranate noir is Devine! I only have a small sample shower gel but would love an eau de perfume or toilette! My favourite ( only) Jo Malone scent is Velvet Rose and Oud which I love 💕
Heyy @Matilda about the candles you can try trimming the wick whenever you use your candle. It's exhausting but it helps and you can try to let the wax burn through the top layer so that it doesn't form those annoying pockets of wax. This is kind of time consuming though so don't use the second tip unless you have alot of time to kill. Hope this helps and thank you for the wonderful video as always !!!
Thank you, I always trim the wick and let the candle burn the entire way to the edge, but that didn't work this time! The votive is too wide so it doesn't entirely melt, even on the long first burn 🤦♀️ x
Yes finally the celebrity makeup bags are back! I love them so much and I am really looking forward to your future ones because I know you have some cool celebs on your list! 🧡
I love this type of videos you do! They must take a lot of time to research and find out what makeup they wear and if you have the product or similar. I am very happy you take the time to make these videos for us to enjoy. Thank you! ❤️
In our Byredo training book, it doesn’t really give much info on how to burn their candles well aside from the usual like, not leaving it unattended or trim the wick to 5mm before and centre the wick after each use. Also, it says not to burn it for more than 4 hours. I always like to burn candles for about 2 and a half to 3 hours on the first time and it works for me. ☺️
Thanks for sharing! I always follow that advice too but found that even with a long first burn, it took so long for the wax to melt that it was always uneven, it never got to the edge 🤦♀️ x
Lots of great products, I love the Essie nail polish. Only tried the polishes recently. . I've only recently started using again cream blushes, I'm really liking pale pink from Bobbi Brown cream blush, just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
For my Byredo candles- to get the outer rim to melt I wrap the top of the candle in tinfoil. Usually within an hour or two the entire surface melts. I do the same with the colored single wick Diptyque candles. 😊
Hey, can you please make a video about lip masks and treatments? I really like your videos and for some reason there is not a lot of videos about this topic. Thank you 💕
Love this video, I love that you did some research. Any change you have an update version or if you can do an eras video? Like, guess what she might have used in specific videos?
This was lovely. For the candle that's already uneven. Create a tent with aluminum foil kindla like an oven so the heat melts the surrounding wax. Just continue to burn for a few hours and it should be even. Fave Taylor song was We are never ever getting back together. A lot of her songs are classics and favorites.
@@matildaonvideo I hear you its only until the top part has an even layer of melted wax. It will also concentrate the scent. And place it where you can't see it like the bathroom while it burns. Out of sight out of mind. Like covering a blemish with a good concealer 😁
Love the video! ❤️ I think the nice thing about this video, on top of getting a look into T-Swift favourites is also looking into some of your favourites that I haven’t seen or heard before like the Byredo candle and Taylor Swift’s Red album 💋💄
Thank you Karis! ☺️ Unfortunately I don't use many products from the brand so it's not a video I can film - I've only tried their Rosewater mist and Drying Lotion in the past x
This was such a great episode! Love that there are so many mid-range products interspersed with the luxury items. Topless and Barefoot is one of my favourite shades, and I was a "signature blue nails" girl in college. Just getting back into them during this isolation period :) Also a fan of Shimmer Bricks, Bioderma, Rose Salve and anything lavender! Absolutely loved the documentary as well.
Omg, I also have a mini dolce vita lip pencil! Got it along with the mini blush in a holiday bundle. Just so happens it was my first time trying out nars prods and am not disappointed!
about the candle! i don’t have that specific candle however i read somewhere that when you first burn the candle you need to burn it until there are no candle left on the wall of you candle jar. that way the next time you burn it it will automatically burn evenly! i tried this and it seems to work!
I am not a fan of her music but I am a fan of her makeup looks, and my absolute favourite is the makeup she wore in her music video of "wildest dreams" she looked gorgeous as a brunette paired with that 40s/50s makeup style
A tip for burning the byredo candles evenly is to burn it until the wax melts over completely, that way when you put it out the wax will harden together as a layer. I’ve heard that you only need to do this for the first burn, but honestly I do it everytime I light a candle. Also keep the wick short, if you let it get too long it’ll burn your candle faster!
I always follow both of those tips but it didn't work for this particular candle! The Byredo votive is much wider than the Diptyque candles I usually use, so the wax never melts entirely, even on a very long first burn! 😬 x
@@matildaonvideo no way! mine always burn right to the edge haha it's actually a pain waiting that long for it to reach the edge. Maybe my climate is much warmer/less draughty than yours and it helps to soften the wax as it burns. If it really bothers you, sometimes if i don't have time to wait I take my lighter and blast the very edges to melt them down to match the rest of the melted wax.
Actually, after rereading your comment, you might benefit from keeping the wick longer than you are so the flame will be bigger and reach more surface area. This is all just conjecture, I've honestly never really thought this hard over burning candles ahah but I hope you find something that works!
Sorry I haven’t been commenting for awhile I’ve been taking time out for a bit! But wow Matilda your channel is growing so much and you really deserve all the good things to come! Loved this video cant wait for the next one!
To make sure your candles burn evenly I’d suggest a metal lid, for instance yankee candle topper! For me it solved this issue with most of the candles I own 😊
Matilda before I own it I used aluminium foil around the candle to warm up all of it and distribute wax evenly but metal lid is definetly safer and more aesthetic

matilda!! i have been waiting forever and ever for you to do this, thank you! i love it so much : )
Thank you so much Anne! 😄 x
Wow at last a video I had been waiting for long !! I always wondered about the make up brands used by her.
Thank you for waiting! ☺️ x
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy these videos 😄 x
Oooh you tease! 😍 40 more to come? I can’t wait 🤗
Thank you for your beautiful videos xx
Thank you so much Briony! I don't think I'll ever get through them all sadly, that's almost one a week for the rest of the year 😂 x
YESS! FINALLY! I've been waiting for this foreverrrr!! Amazing video, as always😁
Thank you for waiting Rahma! ☺️ x
Taylor Swift is so beautiful! I’m a huge fan of her makeup esthetic/style.
Thank you Laura, glad you like her style too! ☺️ x
Jo Malone pomegranate noir is Devine! I only have a small sample shower gel but would love an eau de perfume or toilette! My favourite ( only) Jo Malone scent is Velvet Rose and Oud which I love 💕
i loved this video, such a cool concept & it’s just really interesting to see what taylor uses !!
Thank you so much Zoe, really appreciate that! 😄 x
Do you KNOW how happy i was to see this video in my notifications.. heart skipped a beat
Haha thank you! Lovely to hear 😄 x
Love it! Thank you so much Matilda for the update!
Thank you! 😄 x
Yes finally the celebrity makeup bags are back! I love them so much and I am really looking forward to your future ones because I know you have some cool celebs on your list! 🧡
Thank you Hannah! Can't wait to continue the series 👏 x
I don’t like Taylor, but I love how you explain every single product and show what tastes you share with different celebrities 😊
Thank you, I appreciate that! ☺️ x
My favorite youtuber + my favorite artist= a match made in heaven! thank you so much Matilda 💗
Thank you so much! ☺️ x
I love this type of videos you do! They must take a lot of time to research and find out what makeup they wear and if you have the product or similar. I am very happy you take the time to make these videos for us to enjoy. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much Anastasia! 😄 Really appreciate that, these videos take about 20-25 hours to make! I wish I could upload them more frequently x
TWO OF MY FAVES
Haha thank you Blaire! 😄👏 x
never clicked on a video so fast!! thank you for making this! 💗💗💗
Thank you so much Caroline! ☺️ x
Thank you! I've heard the tinfoil tip before but it seems like such an unappealing way to burn a beautiful candle 😂 x
Taylor sparked my love for red lipstick! thanks for this video ☺️💕
Ohh so nice to hear Jessie! Thank you ☺️💄 x
Hey, can you please make a video about lip masks and treatments?
I really like your videos and for some reason there is not a lot of videos about this topic.
Thank you 💕
Thank you! 👍 I haven't used many lip masks or treatments before, so it's not something I could make a video on unfortunately x
@@matildaonvideo Its okay, Thank you so much for answering to my comment!
I really appreciate it :)
Love this video, I love that you did some research. Any change you have an update version or if you can do an eras video? Like, guess what she might have used in specific videos?
She didn't do the most important research and figure out Taylor is NOT female. 😡
I have to be honest. I really don’t like Taylor Swift, but for Matilda and her quality content I will obviously watch this video 😅💞
Thanks for watching Nathalie! ☺️ x
Me too 🤣 I just saw Matilda and I clicked 🤷🏾♀️
Exactly the same! 👋😅 l just thought "oohh noooo" but I love Matilda so much.. just had to watch! 😊
nobody cares
@@tapcort half of these people just hate on her to sound cool
Its 2020 not 2012🤣🤷♀️
All these beautiful reds! Totally my vibes!
Great to hear Louise! 😄💄 x
Another amazing video Matilda! Love a good red!
Thank you so much Tam! 😄💄 x
I love red lips so muuuch ! ❤️
Me too Coco! 😄💄 x
Love your dedication Matilda. Thanks for another great video. 😊
Thank you so much! 😄💄 x
Love taylors makeup looks ..very fun and iconic ❤
Taylor swift is like a princess . And I also love taylor swift.
Glad you love her too! ✨ x
Thank you! I've heard that tip but it seems like such a shame to cover a beautiful candle in foil 😂 x
Thank you so much Hawa! I think I'm always torn between Red and 1989 👏✨ x
Loving this series, thank you. Would love to see one for Rachel Weisz's makeup bag!
Thank you! Rachel is certainly on my very long wishlist, but I have 40 other stars researched and ready to film in 2020! ⭐️ x
in love with ur videos!! am always looking forward to them 😊😊😊💘
Thank you so much! ☺️ x
Hi Matilda! I was wondering if you could do a Mario Badescau review! I heard great things but want to know it is overrated or not . Thanks!
Thank you Megan! Hope you're looking after yourself 💅 x
Omg, I also have a mini dolce vita lip pencil! Got it along with the mini blush in a holiday bundle. Just so happens it was my first time trying out nars prods and am not disappointed!
Glad you're enjoying it Gabriella! 👏 x
Ahhh finally!!!! I love this video so much. Thanks for doing the research. You’re amazing!
Thank you so much! 😄💄 x
Yayyyyyy these are my favorite videos that you create. Always so thoughtful!
Thank you so much Kait! Means a lot coming from you ☺️ x
Hi from Japan. This time I could know more nails. (TF creamy eyeshadow is now one of my faves. Im always looking forward to watching videos! )
Thank you! Glad you love that eyeshadow too ☺️✨ Lovely to have someone watching from Japan! x
about the candle! i don’t have that specific candle however i read somewhere that when you first burn the candle you need to burn it until there are no candle left on the wall of you candle jar. that way the next time you burn it it will automatically burn evenly! i tried this and it seems to work!
I always do that but it didn't work with this one! The votive is much wider than my other candles, so it didn't melt the whole way 😬 x
Matilda oh! well i have ordered them maybe i’ll learn something!🤔
I am not a fan of her music but I am a fan of her makeup looks, and my absolute favourite is the makeup she wore in her music video of "wildest dreams" she looked gorgeous as a brunette paired with that 40s/50s makeup style
Definitely one of my favourite videos! 👏 x
Thank you so much Patsy! No need to apologise, my videos are always here to catch up on ☺️ x
To make sure your candles burn evenly I’d suggest a metal lid, for instance yankee candle topper! For me it solved this issue with most of the candles I own 😊
Good thinking, thanks for the tip Alicja! 👍 x
Matilda before I own it I used aluminium foil around the candle to warm up all of it and distribute wax evenly but metal lid is definetly safer and more aesthetic
