My grandfather had the chance to crew with Mills in civ. I still hear stories to this day, that Mills told to my grandfather. Was great to hear it from the goats mouth.
Excellent pilot story. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Thank you for your bravery, and service to our country. I believe you have more than just luck on your side that day. Keep up the excellent work, safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️
Glad you made it home brother . I was a Blue medic during the last part of my T.O.D in lll Corp . All you little bird boys were always getting in the shit :D We flew to PL one time in early 71 for a brief and during it , they fired in some rockets . Bastards hit the MARS Station , sadly , one KIA . I ran over but the local medics and their Dr. were already there . Stay strong brother . Less of us by the day .. doc 68-71
sat with W4 larking in his MO`s office back in the early 80`s and listened to him talk about the loach and his time in nam, he was in the OV/RV during our time together. the crazy stuff i heard brought shivers down my spine...
I know I've read his book, great story. Hughes 500 helo's are the safest ever built. They were phased out too soon because LBJ's bride was a part owner of Bell Helicopter and the OH-58 Kiowa took on major roles. I know the Bell tech rep from the mid 60's to the mid 80's working with him at Rotary Wing Aircraft Test Directorate in Pax River. He told us many stories about the helicopters during the Vietnam War.
As a Viet Nam veteran ...i love hearing these stories ...Thank You

I've read Hugh's book: fascinating insight into the sharp end for me, as I'm English & was just entering my teens in 1969.
first read about this guy in 1985. in a signal and squadron publication in Australia. this got me started reading about Vietnam war .
Salute and respect thank you for your service 👍
