HIS VOICE IS FREAKIN DEEP MAN!!!!!!
What a decent, down to earth, nice guy!
He's beautiful.x
Didn't know his voice was so deep...kinda sexy.☺😉
He’s a bonafide baritone
the best things i've ever heard/read about ashcroft, were said by bernard butler, of suede, when he went by richards house to see about joining the verve. ashcroft sat there and strummed and sang the unrecorded The Drugs Don't Work in his front room... imagine that.
'The best song Jagger and Richards have written in 20 years' - Richard Ashcroft.
lol.
For the slow ppl out there, its sarcastic, sad I have to state that but thats youtube for ya
He is right on, because the last album of the Stones I bought, was "Let It Bleed", still influenced by Brian Jones. I was sick and tired of songs by the Stones, which talk about lost girls/loves. So boring. I had a songbook with 180 songs and 90 were about lost lovers, they were lamenting about.
@@hanspeterraatz4928 Same here. They’ll never know how much they lost when they sacked Brian.
The ALO was a slowed down version of "The Last Time", which in turn is a virtual copy in lyrics and general tune from an old gospel song. To claim this for the Stones is madness and shows how utterly inept (or corrupt) our court system is.
Richard is a great musician and produced a lot of great albums!
wow great voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant. Vern was outstanding here interviewing. Top top class.
but the stones themself got screwed aswell, they don't own any copyright of ony of their songs made before 1971, the owner of the copyright sued the verve for copywright infringement nothing to do with mick or keith themself.
Stealing this song for a five second take of an orchestral tune of a Stones song, which they had never written a tune for and it had been agreed for a 50/50 share. Allen Klein just wanted 100% of it, because these 5 seconds orchestral tune Ashcroft had used for the whole song, like:....da...da... da...
A rather anti-climatic retirement in the beginning...
great interview!! thanks for posting!!...Is it the interviewer's accent from any place in particular?, Just curious...
I think the Verve has been the next best new generation of the Beatles if I may say so.
legend
Great artist
how unfortuned what happened to the verve is totally unfear what this muther fucking bussines bastards did with them and their work i had no idea, they just destroy the verve,it is so sad, how can all of the song be taken as a rolling stones creation?, is only a seccion of the musical part, the lyrics are from the verve, how could they do this? i mean is indignant really i makes me hate the stones, i mean they were reach allready, couldn't their former manager at least share the benefitis?, i mean THE VERVE MADE THIS SONG A HIT!
Allen Klein was a wicked & vicious opportunist, who was black-listed by the late '70s ...then a lonely old 'villain' who owned the Stones catalogue & wanted some attention & publicity & $$ ...David Whitaker & Wil Malone r the 2 string arrangers who got a pittance. Listen to the orig.piece, has nada to do w/ The Stones, ironically. Whitaker wrote it, Oldham performed it :P
PeaceIsContagious1 yeh is not a rolling stone's shit, they all steal from the song i guess just like eminem and everybody on the music industry and i don't see them loosing all cause of it.... the rolling's manager =pease of shit (sorry if i misspelled any word) i really need to practice my english writing
I hate it when i look through the little book thats in the cd and i see written by mick Jagger nasty guy
"Beer bellies and dartboards" LOL!!
Coolest man 👍👍
I was shocked to hear that Richard in a recent interview lauded the "craftsmanship" and "genius" that saturate the "masterpieces" sung by Justin Bieber.
4:25 is that a hint to cocaine by anychance when you say you have been through alot in similar ways ?
Hahahahahaha no
@loopstheloop what are you smokein? Coldplay is awsome and the verve was awsome
como quisiera saber ingles xD
es mas facil que el español
It’s not too hard to learn to speak and understand it.
@loopstheloop Erm...look here...how many #1 hits do The Verve have? How many do Coldplay have? Here's the trick question...how many do YOU have?
@Thevery80sleon yea, but he did not write either melody or words for bittersweet symphony
No, he looks more like Mic Jagger.
The interviewer's accent sounds like Newcastle, or at least Yorkshire and the such. But then I'm not that great with such accents. LOL Am I right on with what I'm hearing?
stoned
Talent borrows & Genius Steals! Stones, ripped of r&b, shafted Brian Jones, etc
Bitter Sweet? Fookin Right, Richard mate!
@Jimbobadoogle OK. Yeah no surprise; I didn't *think* I was right. Sure enough! LOL
The verve make a poor song in amazing song(bitter sweet)
I disagree. The last time is a great song of the sixties. Bittersweet is a totally different song , in faci IMHO Ashcroft didn’t really steal anything, just borrowed a few notes from a cover. Whitaker and Oldham stole those notes, not Richard.
what do you thing the worst thing about him, the fact he doesnt write songs, or the fact he steals them
you dont have to get wordy to explain how richard ashcroft is an idiot
HunterHunter88
Damn right mate. That bloke is a true and proud Arse Pirate.
I think the worst thing about you is your grammar.
+Percival Fallas wasn't worthless, it went into the charts at number 1 look some shit up!!
+Percival Fallas great comment
Copy cat!!
rafael trejo Rolling Stones suck. If they made their version better, other bands wouldn't have to make it a hit for them. Rolling Stones are idiots.
+rafael trejo your probably not even old enough to remember it so shut up.
+ryan smith one hit wonder!! not impressed at all!!
+ryan smith i am its true!!
no shit!
Coldplay? Good god, the Verve were like a legit experimental, cutting edge band. To do anything with the likes of such middle of the road sludge as Coldplay....a bit of coming down in the world of creativity, I'd say. They are not in the same league, not by miles and miles. ew
Coldplay are extremely great tho but still not on the same level as the verves
Coldplay is great.
You and your opinion lost all credibility after saying "ew".
((PS: Coldplay are the biggest band in the world right now. They've been at it for the past 20 years now. So yeah, piss off.))
Coldplay was a great, fresh and a new sound when it began early 2000's. Now it's shit. Don't believe me? Check out "Another rush of B-sides to the head" and their acoustic versions of their songs.
Donde está Carter!!
Yes i've heard all their B-Sides. In fact, 3 of them are in my top 10 Coldplay favorites (Murder, No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground, and Sleeping Sun).
But that's not the point. You can't say that their music is shit because it's a matter of music/genre taste at the end of the day. Many fans prefer britpop/rock Old Coldplay more, and many others prefer pop/electronica New Coldplay more.
I personally prefer the 'Old Coldplay' myself, but I won't shit on others' opinion or preference. Ffs, ya'll better stop acting all different and clever with this "the old ones will always be better no matter what" hipster bullshit.
