It's true! I didn't want to piss and moan too much so I left out a lot of the little things that happened. But you get the idea. I know all of us have been through for sure!
So glad a I found your channel! It's so great to see you use strategies this NW MN guy (Moorhead area) can use towards his KBG/PR yard. Will need your seed next fall!!! Thank you!
My sunjoe broke on me as well this fall overseed. The motor or whatever powers the spinning motion of the scarifier broke. And it was like 10% of the way done. Had to hand dethatch the whole thing because I had already rented an aerator for 24 hours. Everything got done but man I felt like I got hit by a train once it was all done. Then 2 days later by the grace of God, my area dodged heavy rainfall. Everywhere else north and south got it within a 50 mile radius. I feel your pain.
I’m over in South Dakota here, 🔥 Fireball is getting over seeded on my lawn after I go through the whole 9 yards on the overhaul!! Can’t wait to see the results. I have a 2 sq. ft planter full of Fireball, today is day 29 and it’s amazing how thick full dark and it grows. It’s only four inches tall but Wow! Blows the Scott’s landscapers mix out of the water!!
Thank you for sharing...I thought I was the only one that had days like yours! This has not been a good lawn year for me...fungus got me bad...I haven't even enjoyed my mowing this year because my heart bleeds every time I see my damaged lawn. Keep up the good work! Enjoy your vacation.

My SunJoe did the same thing to me. Only second time I used it, and it burned itself to death. My grass is thick and healthy, but that’s the whole point of those things, and thinning out thick lawns with some thatch. I bought the Wen and so far that thing has been an absolute gem!
I can relate to this. I have my seed and straw blankets ready for what was supposed to be my labor day weekend lawn renovation. Instead I will be in surgery tomorrow to repair a torn biceps tendon.

Thanks Phil! There were actually a few other things that went wrong that I forgot about but forgot to talk about them. I didn't record this video properly for a vlog so I just had to recant everything from memory in a story. The day was actually much worse than I made it seem in the video 😂 BUT we got through!! Hello, I live in SE North Dakota. I do realize that a better time to put down seed would have been August 15th but I have a project in my back lawn where some trees were removed and the soil tilled up. I am just now to the point of having everything cleaned up and leveled. My plan is to throw down seen tonight (August 27, 2024) will I be OK this late in the season to get grass established before the first frost? I have purchased some of your Perennial Ryegrass and KBG blend. (Hat trick and Fireball) Should I wait till next year or throw down and see what happens?
I just over seeded with your seed! KBG.. I’m new to lawn care. I’m out there everyday. All summer! I live in CT and my neighbors totally think I’m nuts. I’m mowing as well now!! Got rid out the duds that were cutting weekly.
My neighbors used to think I was a psycho, now they're just used to seeing it (I guess they probably still do lol). Be patient with the kbg as it takes awhile to germinate and establish! Make sure it stays moist throughout the whole germination stage! Good luck and thank you for your support!
I feel you. After getting all the tools and products ready for my backyard renovation and getting my front lawn ready for FNB I fractured my elbow. I’ve learnt a lot from your videos and implemented it throughout summer to make my front lawn stand out in the entire community and now I can’t even use my striping kit since I can only mow with one arm thank god for self propel but it really sucks.
Dang man that really sucks. Are you planning on pushing the renovation until next year now? Sorry to hear that bro. I'd take my bad day over that any time. Hopefully you heal well brother.
I may end up getting help and pushing through a bit later depending on my recovery and the weather here in Upstate NY. Because of how prepared I already am, in the worst case I may push it to spring. Not ideal but I will amend my strategy to focus more on safe for seeding pre emergents and wetting agents. Were you able to get your irrigation system leak resolved? Wishing you good luck for your renovation. Looking forward to seeing the outcome. Thank you very much!
7 days ago I spread compost on my lawn in the Asheville NC area and overseeded it with Turf type tall fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass seeds. I’ve been watering it frequently and lightly to keep the seeds moist. Now I’m noticing 3 to 5 inch white circles on the compost. I think it is actinomycetes from the compost. Is this something I should be concerned about hurting my lawn? Should I treat it with fungicide(s)? If so which fungicides? I've just changed my watering to less run time and also the last run time of the day has been moved to earlier in the day so it won't be so wet all night. Thank you in advance for your advice.
Thanks Bryce. I've had this cord for 3 years with this machine and never had an issue. I'm going to buy a new sun joe and cord tonight. Thanks for the heads up!
@@lawnlifevlogs I’ve had my sunjoe since spring 2020. Used it twice in spring and twice in fall each year with no problem. Sometimes a July thin out to help with fungus. Still running strong about to use it here in a couple weeks 🤞

We received a heat wave warning in Dakota County and surrounding areas, but I did not think it was going to be very bad. It feels like 95 degrees F now. How are you doing overseeding today? The temps must have been down at your place. I have been watching all of your previous overseeding videos to get ready for my first overseeding. I am going to topdress and level my front yard on Friday with 5 cubic yards of topsoil and then overseed on Saturday. Hopefully, everything goes well.
Good luck Abdullah! I actually filmed this two weeks ago. Results will be posted in a day or two. I wouldn't worry about the heat too much. Just make sure you have enough water on the baby grass. It'll be cooling down in no time. Thanks for the support!
The best time of year to seed is last 2-4 weeks of summer but it really depends on the weather. Faster germination times because the soil temperatures are perfect.
The belt broke on my son Joe when I was overseeding 4 weeks ago... Luckily I had dethated the whole yard 2 days prior and I was trying to scarify when the belt broke.... I feel like the subscriber base there has subscribed for more how to, retention style videos. They want to get in and get out and not listen to me blab. I'm trying to build a little different audience here if that makes sense?
I've heard ppl say it can overheat without a 10 gauge power cord. I wasn't driving it hard or anything. I've had this one for a couple of years and never had any problems with it before this. I'm going to be buying the same one to be honest with you because when it works, it works great. If it burns out again, I'll probably look for something different
I was also thinking about this, maybe a thick clump of dead grass got stuck then one of the motors was having a very hard time rotating. If you've used that cord for so many years and suddenly this happened, maybe my guess is correct.
Watch my videos on my main channel and you'll understand. Also makes actually doing the project much easier so I'm not constantly moving cameras around
This is the result of your obsession. You knew the grass was wet from the beginning, but you've tried to mow it anyway, when you know you can't cut wet grass because it will clog the lawnmower and the blades. You've brought these issues on yourself because, if you would have waited later on in the day when the grass has dried, you would not had those problems. Besides, 8:30 in the morning is way too early to be cutting grass anyway, because you could be disturbing your neighbors. Everybody is not an early bird! 10:30 to 11:00 am is early enough to start doing lawn work, especially if you're cutting the grass and using other loud equipment.
This is the most relatable video on the internet lol. The hard projects always make for the best stories .

@@lawnlifevlogsThank you for the tips! :) Let's hope what people said are true about the gauge of the cord.
@@lawnlifevlogsYou should definitely invest in a heavier cord. Not necessarily 10 gauge but 12 is good.
Definitely will be doing that. I've used it for years without a problem with the 16, guess my time was up...
I was also thinking about this, maybe a thick clump of dead grass got stuck then one of the motors was having a very hard time rotating. If you've used that cord for so many years and suddenly this happened, maybe my guess is correct.
Must have been a Monday!
Actually the worst Friday in history lol
Is a videoagrapher really needed. The self shoot and tripod is all you need, it's yotube. Kinda takes away from the whole DIY thing
