One of the greatest metal songs ever.
Goddamn Right!
Brian LaFrazia to bad Judas Priest copied the main guitar riff from Forbidden. Forbidden - Through Eyes of Glass was released 2 years before JP released Pain killer
Hear for yourself

Chris C Go Away
Kim W ignorant.
Johnny Mack it really is tho..
Rob Halford, (Singer), is one of the Legendary Metal God Singers of all time..... also rumored to be the man who started the leather and spikes trend in metal.
inspired from the gay S/M scene! :D
Not rumored, he is the one :P
@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds Who in turn were inspired by the famed artist Tom Of Finland. His affectuation with leather is what got the UG gays to make them wear leather clothing as symbol of respect and admiration for the artist.
On that note, rob did an interview on kshe95 in st.louis right after he announced he was gay....people were calling in talking trash.....rob simply replied"i came out on stage dressed like the village people for 30 years, how fkn stupid are you?"🤣god bless rob.
@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds ROB HALFORD OF JUDAS PRIEST STARTED THE LEATHER AND SPIKES LONG BEFORE THE GAY S & M SCENE...THE GAYS STOLE HIS LOOK...EVEN HIS HAIR CUT
What you were hearing in that moment is the double kick pedal, the bass and the guitar together as one on beat.
Goddamn Right!
motherfuckin right! I hate having to explain it !
The drummer Scott Travis is my childhood Buddy, we grew up same area here in Virginia, still, a good friend he's been in Judas priest since 1989.great drummer 👏🔥💯👍 an yes Rob Halford sings like that all the time👏🔥💯👍
Scott is awesome. Doesn't get enough credit for his contribution to metal.
And to think... This was his introduction to Priest fans. First song on his first album in the band. Holy shit :D
Scott Travis is a true killer on the drums. But Rob really only sings like this on the Painkiller album, he varies widely in his tone over Priest's 50 year career. Like all of Priest there's a lot of facets to him. Early Priest sounds completely different as does later Priest
Racer X!
your Buddy was the Drummer that Priest needed to change history in Metal cuz he a Animal in drumming
If there is one song that defines Metal, this is it
Hit him up on this victim of change any priest fan knows it's definitely a classic! And don't worry about the audioslave cochise video I'll wear him down eventually lol
best JP song ever
Yes original Sad Wings version.
@@kevinkazman2664 I agree on this, as good as any live version may be, the original gives it to you nice and clean. It helps you appreciate the live performances more than if you hadn't heard the studio version first.
When Rob is singing the chorus, Glen, KK, and the drummer are all playing 32nd notes, the higher pitched tone is the guitars's layer, lower tone being the double bass kick-drums. Also, Ian's bass is with them as well, blasting those 32nd notes too. The guitarists and the bass ( I am only assuming here) are playing open E ( and Ian's bass equivalent) tremolo. Just means real fast on the thickest string closest to the player's head. ( Drummer Les Binks, guys??) When all four are playing such a driving and basic tone without interruption, it's wicked powerful and, to me, addictive. It kind of draws you in and gets you going.
Judas Priest and Rob just so great. He's the OG reason for the metal stereotype of leather, spikes, chains and being gay af lol
"Domination - Pantera", love your reaction videos :P
Live in Moscow 1991
Sergio A yea definitely Moscow. Great fucken show
YEESSSS!!!
At this time Judas Priest had become pretty soft, and they saw the emergence of much harder, faster 'thrash metal' with Metallica and Megadeth. So they decided that they were going to up their game and show these youngsters what metal is all about.
The result was 'Painkiller'. And it took everyone back to school.
With all due respected Judas priest because I absolutely love them I will say that any Megadeth song ever made even their worst hit rips harder than Painkiller
Ram It Down is hardly soft
Yes, Rob used to sound like that live. He’s a professional and has never used auto tune live. Going further back his vocals was better when he was younger, he struggles now due to age. Check out any live recordings from twenty or more years ago and you’ll see.
I followed Priest from Albuquerque to Dallas in 86
It was awesome.
Yeah he was that damn good.
Considering his age and how long the band have been going he still sounds pretty damn amazing!
@@HaloOverOurDemise yeah 52 years at this point!I think Halford joined 49 years ago.
There's a reason ROb Halford is considered the Metal God ... this dude's voice was out of this world in his prime, if you look at Judas Priest live concerts from the late 80's he was untouchable as a vocalist, this dude has incredible range , the Fuel For Life tour is one of my fav Priest era's
the bass player and drummer (low end) often can sound like one beautifully morphed sound, the reason that we " bounce", " groove "," head bang" all the way to dancing is because of BOTH ! not the same without each other
Knew you would like this. Drums and guitar on this track are largely unmatched.
two from moscow 1991
Domination - Pantera
Creeping Death - Metallica
Priest has been around since the early 70s this song was 1990. Dude react to an earlier song called Beyond the realms of death. Its NOTHING like this and it's a masterpiece, not taking anything away from this song.
That entire record is a classic 🤘
Original band formed in 1969 and I believe Halford joined in 1972. They were some of the original metalheads!
Each and every Reactor to Painkiller pauses @10 seconds, lol. That drum intro is on fire!!
And they all say "he's still going!" during the solo!
Rob Halford from the same city as Ozzy Osbourne Birmingham UK
Rob's actually from Walsall, only 8 miles away from Birmingham but a separate town.... as anybody from Walsall would forcefully tell you ;)
@@circulation69 oh right thought he was a brummie
The “Metal God” Rob Halford
Welcome to the definition of Heavy Metal... at least in my book! ;)
Best reaction I've ever seen of Painkiller! The love of music in this guy's eyes is fantastic! 😁
Dude You just made my favorite Painkiller reaction! Hilarious!!!😂🤘
The complete album is a masterpiece so my suggestions:
A Touch of Evil (high school classic),
Between the Hammer & the Anvil (most underrated song🤯)!!!
Listen to "Between The Hammer & The Anvil". It's on the same record and it's equally as epic....
Need to see another side of Priest, "Victim of Changes" live unleashed in the east. Mind blown!
Or perhaps Dissident Aggressor studio version or Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver studio version. Rob´s range is out of this world.
Judas Priest and Iron Maiden ruled 5th-8th grade for me. I'm 43 now... Wow this brings back memories.
So I had your Jinjer Pisces reaction show up as a suggested video and of course, it being Jinjer and Pisces, I had to watch to see the reaction. I wasn't disappointed. Since then I've literally sat here all night and watch almost all of your metal/rock reactions. They've been fantastic. This is a journey you won't regret and one that will take you in so many directions and through so many feelings, as you've already discovered. You've only touched the tip (yes I know how that sounds). But there's so many sub-genres of metal and they're all deep. So when I see reactors who have lived in other generation such as K-Pop, HipHop or whatever diving into the metal pool, I have to check it out and so far, everyone I've watched, Alex Hefner, No Life Shaq to name a couple, they've all come away with a new respect for a genre they had always believed was just noise and screaming. As a life long rocker/metalhead, and someone who grew up around jazz, dixieland, swing and symphony orchestra music (my dad is a retired musician) and having played music in my youth, it makes me feel good to see others opening themselves up to new music and appreciating it. Thank you for that. I'm now officially a sub. Keep rockin
If you want the best drums there is you have to check out SLAYER.
Seasons in the abyss
Another great drummer is Igor Cavalera from Sepultura. I would recommend Dead Embryonic Cells as a good starter for Sepultura, followed by Desperate Cry.
We could spend all day talking about great drummers tho from Gene Hoglan's bass assault to Danny Carey's magical drumming journey's
We need this guy into metal not out of fck slayer
Judast Priest- Victim of Changes, is a must.
Live version, unleashed in the east: live in Japan.
That look on your face when Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing kick in......priceless!
Machine Head Davidian has the banging drums. Got to do that!
One of the greatest metal singers of all time.!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The quintessential metal track....so you want vocals held out forever....rob is your singer.
Yep! They sound like that LIVE!
I saw them in 2018.
Another great song with crazy drum start is Stargazer by Rainbow. Cool lyrics as well.
Also with a singer just as legendary as Rob Halford... Ronnie James Dio!!... R.I.P.
Rhythm guitar and drums combined. Judaa priest is very precise with their playing
i've seen JUDAS PRIEST every time the have come close to Baltimore from the beginning and Rob Halfords voice has always been on point!!!
First concert ever. 1984 Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I was 13 years old in 7th grade. It was sick.
There's a reason ROb Halford is considered the Metal God ... this dude's voice was out of this world in his prime, if you look at Judas Priest live concerts from the late 80's he was untouchable as a vocalist, this dude has incredible range
Rob has Been keeping in touch with his Metal Fans on facebook on a Daily... That Man is So Awesome
check out "Judas is rising " live from the budokan ,its unreal
BTW whenever I want to hear this song ( which is often...), I always come back here. They rock but you do too !
I was just checking this video out and remembered how much you love drums LOL so I came back to your reaction
You're welcome my friend. Judas Priest has been around for 40 years or So . Plenty of music and plenty of different styles they play . Rob helford the singer Probably the most versatile singer I've ever heard.
Fifty years, actually.
its got to be the most metal song ever. the drums, the guitar, the voice, and the song lyrics/subject.
This was even heavy for Priest when it came out. I love it! Priest are the Metal Gods!!
Awesome video brother.
Seen Priest 24 times in concert. 👍
Oh no baby! Make no mistake. That's the drums! The double kick.
That's Rob halford on vocals Scott Travis on drums. Glenn Tipton on lead guitar KK downing on rhythm guitar and Ian Hill on bass.
Yes, the drummer gets down and dirty! And Rob Halford is awesome vocalist!
Love some priest but some of there older stuff is there best victim of change is an amazing song. Oh yeah also hit up the video for audioslave cochise lol as a lover of music as I am I know you will love it I'm gonna be relentless with this cochise request 😁
Dude turning more conservative AND listens to Juda Priest?
Dayum!!!! I love you!!!
There was a concert where Halford was singing and a fan had a phone real close to the stage pointing it filming. Halford reached out and kicked the phone up in the air!
The jokes immediately came in.
He...Is...the phone kickah!! Lol
Enough metal to build a few Harleys; speechless is the typical reaction after the first listen. Break time! Wherez that silence at?
Glenn Tipton and KK Downing was Awesome together! Glenn had the lead in this and he ripped it but KK also on other songs of Judas Priest does justice!
Lars Ulrich (Drums) and James Hetfield (Rythem Guitarist -Singer) of Metallica have a live drum duel during a concert, Check that out its from 1992.
I looked up explosive energy in the Oxford English once and there was simply THIS video.
I fucking LOVE this blast of metal energy, never fails to get me up.
possibly the greatest metal tune ever, but i'm such a Sabbath fanatic that that feels wrong saying that, but it has to be up there, top 3 GOAT metal tracks.
i've seen Priest a few times....they killed this song every time....note for note...Halford even nailed the last scream.
fun fact last year the bands new guitarist Richie Faulkner was playing this song at a show and suffered what is called a complete aortic dissection. basically his main artery to his heart ruptured and was pumping blood into his chest cavity. this happened while he was playing this song he finished the song which was the last of their set then went to the hospital for 10 hours of open heart surgery. he has since recovered and is back on tour. his Dr said most people who have this happen don't even make it to the hospital. that definitely earned him the cred to stand with the metal gods!
I was there in San Antonio with Judas Priest, Megadeth and Testament back in the day. Yeah, dude can play...
Every. Single. Time.
No first timer is even prepared for the opening drum solo.
This isn't just a metal song it IS METAL!!!!
Dude Judas Priest is all what they’re cut out to be. Pioneers of tge Netal movement!
Yessss
Congratulations! You have just listened to the most metal song of all time
This song IS metal. Period. Bestest drum intro of all time. Put it on a loop if you don't believe me.
You should do Motörhead next, amazing band too. I recommend "Overkill - live on stagefright". Probably one of the most intense songs ever
I love seeing you enjoy the METAL GODS!
This song is a great bang for your buck, it's like the Black Friday of solos :) !
30 years old masterpiece....
Dave Brubek Quartet- Take Five
...yes, ....I'm dead serious
Talk about a classic!!
Love the channel, I was a old school Priest fan never heard this figured I would give it a listen here, thanks for the videos!! Great reaction!
Dude, if you wanna see some badass live Priest, check out Victim Of Changes , US Festival . I think it's 83 or 84. They DESTROY it.
If you think this is intense, just know that these guys were probably in their late 40s early 50s when they recorded this.
One of the most best Metal Song ever🤘🏻
"My ears are becoming more sharp to rock singing" You killed me :) FYI your ears are becoming accustomed to METAL !!
code for "I am becoming a metal head"
Gotta love the Priest. The Music is bad ass and if you want to roll with a bad ass attitude, metal is the only music that will get you there
Hit that thanggg jack love this guy
genuine joy on your face man. cool as!
Yet another great British metal band & yes Rob Halford sounds like this live & he has a 4 octive voice love it great reaction dude this is the greatest metal song ever
I did!!!.. Well sure I wasn't only one🤟🏻🤟🏻
1980, British Steel, turns the music Industry on it's ear. 1990, the music industry says "Metal is Dead" The Metal Gods say, "Painkiller and you were saying?"
That Glenn Tipton´s solo reaction.😆
i grew up in the 80's and was a METAL HEAD but never was a big JUDAS PRIEST fan...BUT this song was definitely my favorite one by them
@Bryan Mack Yes I respect them and what they did for rock just not my favorite of the early metal bands
The definiton of Metal. Judas Priest and this song. Thanks man, pleasure to watch :-)
i love your face s i scream out thelyrics.... love your reaction brother.
Painkiller is just a classic masterpiece
priest, priest, priest, pain, pain, killa, killaaa. fuck yeah bro, horns up \m/
Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing. I dont know if there has ever been another tandem of lead guitarists that play off each other so well.
8:34 You're 100% right!
Also Glenn Tiptonn is a metal guitar GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great reaction to one of THE greatest heavy metal bands of all time.
Since you like drums check out these videos featuring the mighty Gene Hoglan aka The Atomic Clock.

The first time hearing it is a trip inside itself!
The guitarists switch during the leads, doing their own solos
you want to hear it live..watch the concert rising in the east
Incredible guitar here
First of all man, I’m an OLD metalhead. I bought into Metallica in 1984! Seeing your smile and enjoyment of metal music reminds me all over again why I LOVE the genre. You’ve got yourself a new metal head fam member dude. So far you’ve been lighting up the metal and it’s awesome! You keep catering to METALHEADS and you will have a LOT of new subs. And we’re loyal. And rarely will you get steered in the wrong direction. Judas Priest... Bro, do this do this live? Man, they kill live. They’re one of the founders of metal, and they’re still titans that are out there smashing it today. If there was a textbook for one of the perfect examples of a metal song, this is it.
I was just thinking it was time for Priest. I got to see them last year (2019) in San Francisco.
Amazing, just amazing!
Love from the Central Valley California
Everyone suggest this song, all reactors need to do this song
This song is the definition of Heavy Metal... It showcases everything in one song, that makes Metal the best genre.
